Ice out lures
I think I'll be primarily throwing a jig and a lipless crank.

Has anyone attempted to fish with all breaks off?
One reel I own, I CAN NOT backlash if I wanted to. I've tried to get an overrun with this reel, just to see if I could, and failed. For that reason, I keep my brakes set at 0, and I can just about spool myself on any cast.

Lowest memory mono
Only monofilaments I use are Berkley Big Game and Trilene XL. For a spinning reel, XL is the way to go.

Your next rod
My next rod is going to be a medium heavy, fast 7' rod to throw lipless cranks. Probably going to go with a Fenwick HMG70MH-FC.

Bass Fishing Blasphemy

Mud hole with huge bass (NOT CARP) and shad but no bites
Not saying I don't believe you either, as this has definitely piqued my interest. Like I said, I was just giving the likely scenario based on the info you gave and based on my experience with the phenomena. I certainly could be wrong as I have been before and these could be big bass clearing the water. If that's the case, send me (only me) the coordinates to this pond so I can fish it! Oh and btw, that quote from me is interestingly misquoted.... lol

Mud hole with huge bass (NOT CARP) and shad but no bites
I never said Asian carp, just regular carp. Not being cynical bud, just saying these are probably common carp. In my 20 years of fishing, I've seen just ONE bass jump totally out of water, and it was a tiny bass. One time I've seen this in 20 years. However, I see carp doing this exact thing on every single lake I fish that has carp in it. It's exactly how you described "sounds like a cynder block" and "jumping totally out of water." Not trying to tell you what you saw, just giving my opinion on what I think the likely culprit is.

Best casting rod under 150$
The Fenwick Elite Tech bass rod is a very nice stick, and well worth the $149 IMO. I like mine enough that I plan on buying a few more before the season starts. Lightweight, sensitive, and not a bad looking rod either.

Our guide was Sixto, which when I heard about I was thrilled because of his reputation as one of, if not THE best guide on the lake. He didn't disappoint. I can certainly see where he gets this reputation, and I really hope to be fortunate enough to fish with him next time. But his services seem to be in high demand, understandably, so that may be tough. I loved the lodge as well, from the incredible food to the service. The night we got there, there were 2 other fishermen. 4 more came the next day, and by the time we left there were a dozen fishermen or so. It is a crazy feeling to know that you're fishing the best bass lake in the world, and like you said, the possibility of a world record fish seems to be very real. After being there for just a little while, I knew I would be returning soon. We're gonna try for around the same time in 2018, but I don't know if I can wait that long. Really is a special place, and every bit as good as the all the reports I was reading before making the journey.- ~The Road to the Super Bowl 2016 & 2017~
Seriously. Its gotten so old.- Why Do You Fish
I've always been fascinated with what is lurking below the surface of the water since I was a toddler. That led me to getting addicted to feeling that "tap tap" that precedes each hookset. No matter how many fish I catch, my heart still skips a beat and my knees shake a little every single time I hook into a fish. I've found that bass fishing satisfies this urge more than other types of fishing, so I've dedicated my fishing to chasing bass. I don't mind catching other species either, but for me, bass are where it's at.- ~The Road to the Super Bowl 2016 & 2017~

Certainly was a great first trip, and definitely not my last. Already planning the next one. I know next time to go for longer, because 3 days of fishing is not enough there! Thanks rw. Some of what makes a fishing picture good is the scenery. With the size of the fish and the size of the mountains at Lake Baccarac, taking a good picture isn't hard! Yep, Scrounger heads sure do some damage down there. Something I had never thrown before, but our guide was pretty adamant about using them and he wasn't lying! Caught the biggest fish for me, and responsible for a lot of catches during the sunniest and middle part of the day when other baits wouldn't get bit as much.- Finance Jigs
What are the monthly payments?- Baccarac Bassin'
Just returned from a trip to Lake Baccarac in Mexico. After seeing videos and reading everything about it, I knew I had to make the trip down there. It definitely lived up to the hype. My buddy & I fished for 3 days, Tuesday-Thursday and had some truly great fishing every day, morning, afternoon & evening. I broke my PB a whole bunch of times, and caught some really nice fish. In the 3 days of fishing, I recorded a few 6s, a few 7s, a couple 8s and this 9lb 13oz toad pictured below. In between these bigger fish were more bass 1-5 pounds than you could count. 9lbs 13oz, caught on a purple Zoom super fluke on a Scrounger head while fishing a hump in 15' of water. Picked up this 8lb 10oz girl a little bit after dark on football jig with a Yamamoto heart-tail swim bait trailer. This fish was caught on top water a few minutes after we launched on day 3. 7lbs 6oz on a Megabass Pop Max. Caught this 8lb 9oz shortly after the 9-13. The fishing was truly great, with so many fish and quality fish as well. Top water fishing was good, with maybe 15 fish coming that way including the one 7 pounder. Lots more strikes including several from very large fish. When the top water bite would die as the sun got higher, the fish hit a variety of other baits. There were sometimes 5 minute spans when I would catch 10 fish around 2-3 pounds. There was never a long period of time in which no fish were boated. I certainly plan on returning to this bass fishing paradise, even more determined since I fell just 3 ounces short of a double digit fish.- Horses Head, no, not from "The Godfather"
Are you going to start taking requests?- Whats your Personal Best?
Broke my PB a bunch of times this week. This is my new PB. 9lbs 13oz, only 3 ounces short of the elusive double digit. February 2nd, 2017 - Baccarac Bassin'
