  1. I use green pumpkin tungsten just for that reason. Idk if it actually affects the fish, but going natural colors can't hurt.
  2. I've eaten sunfish, crappie, perch and bass. The only one I don't like is largemouth. Every time Ive eaten it, it tastes like a seaweed salad more than fish. I've had it fried, baked, broiled and grilled all with identical results. Never noticed this with other fish that live in vegetation. Given the choice, I would go with crappie every time. Any suggestions to get rid of the grassy taste?
  3. 16"+ is when I consider a bass to be "nice". 18" and up is "big".
  4. They literally taste identical to the grass or weeds that they live in. No thanks. Smallmouth are different, but LM taste like grass.

    Poppin Pad Crasher.
  6. Dusk, warm and humid, zero wind.
  7. I use 30lb Berkley braid for jigs and T-rigs. I love the stuff...strong, smooth and no digging issues.
  8. Freshwater - I love fried crappie. Saltwater - nothing beats grilled salmon.
  9. If the season ended today, who do you think should be MVP/Cy Young recipients? My picks are: AL MVP- Nelson Cruz. Monster start on a team that is dealing with under-performers and injuries, and had kept the Os afloat. Runner up-Victor Martinez AL Cy Young- Masahiro Tanaka. Obvious choice for me. Every start has been a quality start. He's a beast. Runner up- Felix Hernandez NL MVP- Giancarlo Stanton. The Marlins would be sunk without him, and he's had another insane start. Runner up- Troy Tulowitski NL Cy Young- Johnny Cueto- Sub 2.00 ERA, sub 1.00 WHIP Runner up- Adam Wainwright.
  10. Just a trick I use that draws more strikes than anything else while fishing jigs. During my retrieve I'll pause it for 5 seconds, then shake the jig in place for another 5-10 seconds. Don't move the jig forward, just shake the slack of your line. This gets me so many strikes. It'll get strikes from the bass that have just been gawking but not biting.
  11. Love pitchers duels...And yeah how about Altuve. First Astro ever to have 3 consecutive multi-steal games. He leads the AL in batting too.
  12. I was just going to say something along these lines. Smallies big or tiny will usually clobber any topwater with a huge splash or boil, and might strike a bait 4 or 5 times. But any decent sized LM I've caught on topwater, the lure just disappears and my line starts running. But I've had 18" smallmouth cartwheel out of the water to grab a popper.
  13. Lip that thing Bubba!
  14. There's nothing like a big northern pike thrashing at the end of your line. Just seeing them in the water gives me a huge adrenaline rush, and a chill down my spine.
  15. So both have the tentacle on the dorsal fin...did not know that.
  16. HulaGrubs, Brush Hogs and Incredi-craws are all awesome creature baits. You can T-rig them, C-rig, or any other way you can think of and they will catch fish. Also good as jig trailers.
  17. I would definitely say a T-rigged craw. Fished a lake earlier this year, and all the bass were holding in less than 2 feet of water and we hammered them on T-rigged craws and worms as well as poppers. Two biggest bass came from about 6" of water on a popper.
  18. Toss up between a 5" watermelon/black flake YCB Senko, and a green pumpkin Rage Tail Baby Craw. This year it's been all about the baby craw.
  19. I've had turtles grab rubber worms, and I've had real frogs attack my plastic frogs. Pretty entertaining lol.
  20. One reason I sometimes like heavier bullets is for bottom contact. I love being able to feel the bottom and what structure is down there. If it's windy, or if the fish aren't hitting on the fall, I'll upsize to 1/4 oz. or more.
  21. He also joins Randy Johnson, Sandy Koufax, and Roy Halladay as the only pitchers in history with multiple Cy Young awards and multiple no hitters. 2 Cy Youngs, 2 no hitters, and 2 World Series rings. That's a career right there.
  22. The one that has the tentacle on the dorsal fin is actually a Threadfin Shad. What you have looks like a gizzard, and a pretty big one at that.
  23. Forgot my trailers at home one day, so I bit a SK Ocho in half and used that as a trailer...it worked.
  24. This year the majority of my fish have come on a Rage Tail baby craw.
