  1. @gim this is true. And come spring I’ll be happy about the elevated water levels and all those nice new laydowns that become fishable.
  2. Getting slammed lately. Lots of snow over the weekend with even more expected later this week. Wednesday-Sunday looks like it’s gonna be a monster snow and ice storm. I really hope all this snow in February means a light March. False spring gets me every year though.
  3. @fishhugger Golden State did it with Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee, and Kevon Looney. Like you said, all recycled bigs. LA should be able to find someone at least as capable as any of these guys at rim protection. Im really excited to see Luka and LeBron play together.
  4. First thing is making sure I’m on a body of water that holds or can eat least grow big fish. Most bodies of water around here can produce 3lber, but not every body of water can produce a 4-5lb fish or bigger, which are the ones I’m after. This is usually based on the abundance of baitfish like yellow perch or golden shiners. Another factor that is important to me is depth. Apart from early and really late in the season, most of my big fish come from 8’ of water or deeper, up to 17’. The shallower I’m fishing, the shorter the fish tend to be, unless it’s April/may or October. So my two most important factors are depth and forage base when I’m PB hunting.
  5. This is how I feel when I’m throwing a spinnerbait. Even if I’ve cast 100 times in a row, that 101st cast still feels like it’s gonna be a fish as soon as those blades start thumping.
  6. If you were using RedLabel and this was your experience, I wouldn’t be surprised. But if you’re having this issue with InvisX something is askew. Like others have mentioned, check your guides with a cue tip.
  7. I would say my super power is not letting the skunk in. It’s a very very rare occasion that I can’t put at least one bass in the boat. I’ve been skunked exactly one time in the last 8 years. I don’t fish specifically to not be skunked, it just works out that way.
  8. About 7” overnight. Finished clearing the driveway, now I’m sipping coffee and enjoying the snow day. It was all powder so a very easy removal job. Another winter storm is gearing up to hit us again in a few days. Right now we’re at 27 snow events for a total of about 38”.
  9. Yup. Just heard on my drive home. Not sure why. Looks like Williams failed his physical. Not surprising considering he’s missed like 150 games in 3 seasons. Has any trade ever had more total games spent on the injured list?

@J Francho for those prices I’ll just go to the farmers market and buy some duck eggs.
  11. Nothing to see here. Just another casual 20lb+ winter bag from @AlabamaSpothunter. Awesome, man.
  12. @casts_by_fly the Lakers are taking the rare “win now but still try to win later” strategy. Luckily it’s pretty easy to sign free agents in LA, and with LeBron having to retire sometime and Luka no longer eligible for the supermax extension, they should have a little money to play with. Unless they plan on backing up the Brinks truck for Bronny 😂 Davis made his Mavs debut…..aaaaaaaand he’s already out. Dallas got absolutely fleeced.
  13. Yeah thankfully I have a 28” Ariens that makes quick work of it. It’s primed and ready. And the leg is just about 100% now. I have what should be my last session of physical therapy on Monday. Tiny bit of pain here and there but I’m back to normal life. Thanks for asking.
  14. @gim ours just started. Calling for 6-8” now, so a slight downgrade. Looks like lots more headed this way next week too. In the thick of it now.
  15. I’m right handed, and I do all my casting and my reeling with my right hand. The whole “switching hands” argument makes me laugh. It happens so fast that I went 25 years without even realizing it. It’s a non-factor. For whatever reason, on the rare occasion I take my fly rod out, I do my winding with my left hand as it just feels natural with a fly rod.
  16. Here’s a shot of the work bench, I have my accessories and tools laid out for so I can take inventory. I’ll upload the rest of my collection and arsenal soon
  17. One week from today, every team will have had their pitchers and catcher report to spring training. Can’t wait! Opening day of baseball and ice-out on the lakes are usually within a week of each other.
  18. Only consensus for a T-Rig is the use of a glass bead…
  19. Few inches of ice today, so we’re up to 26 snows for about 31”. Biggest storm of the season looks like it’s gonna hit us Saturday evening. Calling for 8-12.” I’m over it. I’m used to it, but so over it.
  20. I use Yo-Zuri HD Carbon 100% fluorocarbon leader material. Not meant to be used as a mainline, strictly leader material. It’s sold in spools of 20 or 30 yards. Never had a leader knot fail with it, and esox bite-offs are rare. It’s thick, abrasion-resistant and just what I want in a fluoro leader that never touches the spool. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/yo-zuri-hd-carbon-100-fluorocarbon-leader?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=BPS|Shopping|PMax|Fishing|HighMargin|NAud|Google|NMT&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD1TgteYf1PXHZC6nhTrqIlDdeLJn&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInu-eq7ytiwMVzkpHAR38mjKIEAQYASABEgLfx_D_BwE
  21. Anybody who follows basketball knows how out of left field this trade was. When I first saw the headline, I had to check the date and I expected to see April 1st. Pretty hard to justify trading away a 25 year old superstar who has top 10 all time potential and just led your team to a Finals appearance. This trade seems like possibly the worst trade in history, and the more I think about it, the more it seems like Dallas has inside information that Donçic’s leg was about to fall off or something. Even if you point to his injury history, it still doesn’t make sense when you realize the player they got in return is 6 years older and even more injury prone. Im glad I’m not a Dallas fan.
  22. I sometimes hear these guys hooting when I launch my boat before the sun is up. Very spooky sounds they make. Unmistakable. I hear them right outside the camp a lot as well in the evenings.
  23. I have Shimano, Diawa, Lew’s, Pflueger, Abu, and KastKing in my arsenal, and the only brand I wouldn’t buy again is Abu. My Pfluegers are work horses, and my Lew’s serve specific roles that made them the best option when purchased, and are joys to fish with. Would and will buy both brands again. My one Kastking just keeps working no matter how much hell I put it through. At the prices of Kastking I would definitely buy again. Going on 10 or so years of abuse on that reel, never serviced it, yet it keeps hucking. I stay away from Shimano spinning reels. I haven’t had great luck with them. Their casting reels work fine for me though and would buy again. My daiwa reels, nothing needs to be said. Would and will buy more Daiwa. Variety is the spice of life.
  24. Athol as in Warren County, NY? Tons and tons of opportunities for shore fishing in Warren county. And if you hike in, those shore opportunities can be even better. The Hudson, Schroon, and Sacandaga rivers have public access along the road throughout the Adirondacks. I see it looks like a different Athol. Apologies. Point stands though, if you’re ever in the other Athol lol
  25. Rage Bug Watermelon red flake, 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG, 5/16 tungsten bullet, 40lb Sufix 832 with a 25lb Yo-Zuri HD fluorocarbon leader on a 7’2” MH-F stick with an 8.x:1 reel.
