Well, I just received a new baitcasting reel after years of sticking to spinning reels after a bad experience with an el cheapo baitcaster. I went with an Abu Garcia Revo S which so far is obeying me and feels like it was made specifically for my hands despite the fact I have huge hands. Anyway, I've been wondering what the metal bar that is parallel and over the spool is; it can apparently be unscrewed via a knob above the brake knob for some reason..? I've looked through the documentation that came with the reel and the Abu site with no result. It vexes me greatly.

Well, speak of the devil. I ordered the 7' Medium/Medium-Fast model of this rod and just received it today. When I took it out of the shipping tube, I was surprised at how light it was. Haven't got to play around with it yet, though. Literally just opened it.

Funny this thread was made at this time because I've recently noticed I have a bit of a penchant for using Abu Garcia reels.

To be honest, I would've probably never heard of it if it weren't for a co-worker. I don't know why news isn't getting out about it. It looks like it was started in 1999 but then closed soon after due to logistics reasons. The few files (some pictures and topo maps) related to the lake are on the MDWFP web server but aren't linked to anywhere.

Anyone hit this place yet? And do you perhaps have any pictures, pretty please? Information on MDWFP.com is pretty sparse.

I have the same problem with a buddy of mine - except in his case, it's a specific topwater lure.
