  1. Ah yes, Firefox has always been notorious for this. I can leave it open with a few tabs open and it'll balloon up to 128 +MB sitting in RAM. This happens especially when you have opened several tabs and then close them; it's almost like Firefox didn't let go of the resources it was allocated for those tabs. I think other things can also cause this like Flash and plug-in bugs and such. But honestly, Internet Explorer can be just as bad or worse. You have to keep in mind that IE is integrated so much into Windows that it's taking up resources that aren't reported to the user. This doesn't mean it's OK for Firefox to bloat, of course. The funny thing is that I never had a real problem with IE until IE7 which was supposed to fix a lot of things. IE6 used to load quicker than Firefox (due to aforementioned preloading by the OS) for me but that has changed with IE7. Now, IE just seems so slow at everything. They tried to win some people over by adding tabbed browsing but the extensions are actually what make Firefox so great for me.
  2. First of all, I hope this topic isn't out of line in any way. I was looking around on YouTube for fishing videos and found a guy who makes his own educational fishing videos. This made me have another one of those moments where I realize how the Internet allows anyone to up and do anything they want and get it out to people, if you understand what I'm saying. He doesn't have many videos, but he seems to be pretty good on camera and is looking for ideas and wants to answer questions in videos. Sometimes I'd like to see more tips and videos from "amateurs" than I do from those who get paid for selling videos, myself. Link to his channel: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=usp11 So post here if you find any good ones on Youtube.
  3. I have a similar mindset whenever I start a day on the water, even when the past three outings have produced nothing. I just always get the feeling right before I grab my rod before my first cast, but... ...this is how a lot of days end up. And I'll do it all over again the next time I get skunked. ;D
  4. Good old spinnerbait.
  5. I use GIMP for all my image editing. It's free, open source, and can do most of the work Photoshop can and it's getting closer to doing it all with every release. It's available at http://www.gimp.org/ There's also a newer program called Paint.NET; I haven't used it yet but I've heard it's great for quick edits but still pretty powerful. You can get it at http://www.getpaint.net/ Paint.NET is smaller and native to Windows, so it may be easier to get around with at first, but GIMP is more powerful. I'd try both and see which one suits you. I've used Linux and the GIMP for years but the user interface of GIMP still makes me why some things are still the way they are after several major versions. :-?
  6. Is it just me or does the coloration on it look odd? Probably just the image compression.
  7. I like that one, myself.
  8. Baby Bass Torpedo Devil's Horse Chug Bug Zara Spook and Zara Spook Puppy
  9. I catch and release everything I catch but I have absolutely no problem if someone prefers to keep what they catch (even when they are fishing with me) as long as they don't go over their limit and don't give me any guff over releasing my catches. I've had several people telling me I should have kept my fish or given it to them/other people on the water, including my father.
  10. Hey, do you think it'd work to just cut some plywood sheets to size and shape and place in there or does it have to be the EXACT dimensions for whatever reason? Also, what's the thickness on those 1/2 inch, 5/8? Just got back from Lake Okhissa and bagged my personal best largemouth on a spinnerbait so I'm rearing to go.
  11. Does anyone have any information or links to sites with information regarding modifications you can make to these inflatable boats? I'm debating whether to get one or not and being able to make the floorboards and motormount myself would pretty much decide for me, seeing as how paying ~$200 for some plywood is something I can't reason to myself. Long Mike would be the one to see about this, but I believe I read that he's on a trip and won't be back for a while and his images he posted in another thread have all been deleted from the image host. Google searches don't help much, either. I'd also like to add those little wheels/dolly Long Mike has on his boat.
  12. I like to record everything I catch as well, regardless how dinky it is. Maybe I'll have to add beer can to my fishing log database so I am protected.
  13. Irrelevant, if you cast with your right hand and reel with your left using a spinning reel, why would you not do the same thing with a baitcaster :-?? Myself, I cast with my right hand and retrieve with my left for both baitcasters and spinning. Just curious. Maybe I'm weird ;D. To be honest, it was my first baitcasting reel I had for a while and I ordered it online. I saw all the right-handed "pros" : and my buddies using RH reels so I figured I'd go with it. I'm semi-ambidextrous (is that even possible?) and I had tried using a baitcaster before with RH retrieve and I actually naturally cast with my left hand while using it so I figured I'd be good either way. I'm slowly getting used to it; it's no big deal but I think my next reel will be LH. Maybe I just cast with whatever hand is easier for me to pick out backlashes with.
  14. When I was researching reels when I bought my first baitcaster a few weeks ago, I wondered the same exact thing. I was really torn between getting a reel with a left-handed retrieve vs. right-handed retrieve for this very reason. I ended up getting a RH but I kind of wonder if I should've gotten LH instead now that I've used it for a bit. I never had this problem with spinning reels because you can just swap the handles. With my spinning reels, I use my left hand to retrieve and my right hand to cast. With a baitcasting reel, I use both my right hand to reel and cast so I have to do the hand-switching dance I'm not really used to yet. I have a buddy who uses his right hand to cast and retrieve with both reels and I can't wrap my head around doing that with a spinning reel. He has to swap handles out when he uses mine and vice versa.
  15. I haven't listened to yours yet, but if it makes you feel any better, I know a lot of folks who actually prefer a little lack of polish, myself included. It makes the hosts seem like real people just doing what they love without a lot of flash; it's like listening to a bunch of buddies.
