Boating Basics
Jumper cables stored on the boat to jumpstart your outboard using your trolling motor batteries can be a real life saver. Storing a gallon of oil on the boat can save your motor if you have an oil injection 2 cycle and run out of oil. I've had both of these things save my rear on the water more than once.

Demystifying Structure
This. People calling trees "structure" makes me pull my hair out.

Do Bass Fear Gar?
Absolutely. I actually caught my 1st tiger musky on a shaky head Flappin Hog bass fishing that area. I don't think it was quite 40 inches, but it was a blast! I ran out at bought some musky baits but I still need a bigger net and a mucky rod.

Boating Basics
When heading to a new lake or a lake I haven't fished or fished much, I spend some time on google maps looking at the basic structure of the lake. I'm looking to locate spawning bays, man made features such as canals, harbors and looking for obvious cover such as laydows. Once on the water I spend some time with the mapping chip marking way points on structure that only the mapping chip can revel such as ledges, humps, secondary points ect. If its the spawn cycle and preferably late prespawn, then I'm much more interested in locating spawning grounds through satellite imagery. If its summer then I'm spending my time with the mapping chip looking for good offshore structure.

Do Bass Fear Gar?
You might be onto something. One of my favorite late prespawn bass locations has big tiger musky patrolling the area every year looking to eat bass as they begin to bed down. The bite definitely becomes more difficult and bass are tight to cover.

Power Pro Snapping On Backlash
I never understood this phenomena. I've, more times that I like to admit, forgotten that the flipping switch was engaged and my spool and bait came to an abrupt stop when the clutch reengaged. The times the bait has gone flying was due to the knot coming untied and not line failure. I've had a lot of knots come untied with braid in the past but I have rarely experienced true line failure. I wouldn't write off this behavior as "just the way braid is" yet. A uni with a couple of wraps around the hook eye and 10 - 15 wraps in the knot is the best braid knot I have found.

Price Match T3 Ballistic?
Don't bother. I was in my local BPS yesterday and overheard parts of a conversation between a customer and the man behind the reel counter. It turns out BPS will only price match to physical store prices. Pick up your T3 Ballistic at TW but do take a real good, long, hard look at the Tatula 1st. I went T3B but I wish I went Tatula.

Magnetic Vs. Centrifugal Brakes
You're probably right, but if there is a reel worth taking a look at, it is the current gen BPS Extreme. It features a static magforce like braking system but hidden behind the inductor is a 4 pin centrifugal brake system. The end result is something that is fairly magforce z like.
-
Magnetic Vs. Centrifugal Brakes
For all those saying that Daiwa Magforce Z brakes are great brakes, well you're right, but they are also technically dual brakes. The neat thing about Magforce Z is that the inductor moves towards and away from the spool. This movement is controlled by centrifugal forces and allows braking force to be increased as spool speed increases. It's a real slickly integrated dual braking system. I like dual braking systems relying on centrifugal mostly and using the mag braking portion to shorten my casting distance to get baits on target and turning it off when a long cast is needed.

Rage Rig???
So the rage rig predates both the factory produced keel weighted hooks, the Rage Tail brand soft plastics, can be applied to any soft plastic and it is merely coincidence that "swimbait hooks" and Rage Tail plastics are being used today? If so, then I'm wrong, it's a legit rig and swimbait hooks paired with rage tails are being used out of convenience. I'm curious about where the "rage" in rage rig stems from. Were you fishing your unnamed rig one day on a Rage Tail plastic and it dawned on you? How upset does hook companies making money off your idea of keel weighted hooks make you?

Handle Backplay In The Revo Winch 3Rd Gen
Are you sure the backplay isn't just the bit of movement between the spool pin and pinon? The reel has to go from free spool to engaged and when engaged there is a bit of movement due to the those parts having a loose tolerance because of how the pinon grabs the spool. I've never seen a reel with 0 spool black play. If it's truly in the handle then you're right and a good look at the Abu aftermarket is needed. If your looking at Abu upgrades and willing to open your wallet, then take a look at hedgehog studio.

Rage Rig???
I understand you perfectly. You believe a rig to be a presentation, but this is simply not true. A "rage rig" is no more a rig than a Texas Rig'd ribbon tail Power Worm is a "Power Rig" or a Yum F2 Salamander on a ball head jig is an "F2 Rig". A "rig" specifically refers to a terminal tackle configuration. You can place any soft plastic onto any rig because a ___Rig is a terminal tackle configuration. I can place any soft plastic onto a Texas, weedless, wacky, Florida, Carolina ect Rig. A rig is terminal tackle specific and cannot be soft plastic name brand specific because if we were to do this then all Texas rigs would become Berkly Powerbait Tequila Sunrise Rigs and all wacky rigs becoming GYCB Senko rigs. The "Rage Rig" is not one, but two, things that break the fundamental tenants of tackle designation. #1 there is nothing new here at the terminal tackle level. It's a keel weighted hook, AKA swimbait hook #2 it specifically states that only Rage Tail brand baits must be used to be considered a "rage rig". No other rig on planet earth attempts to claim that only one and one only brand of soft plastics is to be considered part of the alleged "rig" and certainly not doing so while contributing nothing new at the terminal tackle level. One does not simply take a hook and stick a particular name brand of plastic on it and call it a new rig type. This is not to be tolerated. Believe it or not, we have standards.

Rage Rig???
There is a line that needs to be crossed to call something a ____Rig. A swmbait hook does not cross this line. A bell sinker on hook certainly and especially if the free moving bell sinker does something significant. I've been fishing creatures and tubes on belly weighted swimbait hooks for a while now and love it. It's just another hook type.

Rage Tail Problems
I have the same problem with the craw chunks. Maybe the craw lineup is less durable? I wouldn't know because after purchasing a few packs of the craw chunks I swore I'd never buy another Rage Tail product again. Baits with a high degree of mechanical motion built in have no business being made from ultra soft plastics.

Wanting To Get New Line For Shakey Head
I'm using #14 Suffix Elite on a general purpose MH rod. It works well but is hard to discern the difference between a clump of coontail and a soft bite. If I throw them on my jig stick then it's #40 braid and #17 Big Game leader. I'm also throwing 1/4 and 3/8 oz heads paired to beaver type baits. If I was throwing lighter baits on spinning tackle then #20 or #30 braid with #10 - #12 mono type line leader would be what I'd recommend.

Tip Too Soft For Fat Ika?
Sounds fine to me. I frog with a soft tipped mod-fast BPS Extreme H. I don't see how some softness in the tip that will affect an Ika. I've skipped Kinami Palm Trees under docks on M spinning tackle.

Am I The Only Crazy One?
This is how normal people use spinning and baitcasting reels. By "normal" i mean right handed. As a lefty this is very strange.
-
20Lb Pp On Bc Digging In?
"normal" PP is a 4 strand that is prone to digging in. The modern 8 strand braids are highly resistant to spool dig in so I'd try an 8 strand braid before giving up on #20. Suffix 832 is especially good about not digging in.
