  1. Man I've been tearing me up here in va with a wacky sneko on a wacky rig weed less jig head. In my clear water ponds been using chart, oranges, reds, and whites and have been killing them. New confidence bait
  2. Yeah that video is a cut from one of the battlefield games! I've seen it before, if you look you can see the gamer tag name above the plane as he flips and also the health bar and what not in the bottom corners. I saw it and thought it was to amazing to be real
  3. From va here too! Middle peninsula! I haven't got out yet this year but am hoping to get to some small ponds in the next week or so. I find a lot of fish on soft plastic worms or flukes
  4. So can you trade in a spinning reel and get a bait caster I hope!?
  5. Ok I was wondering if that was the year but haven't found anything saying it was. Thanks! So the reel I have is from 81.
  6. Thanks guys! I think ill rig it up for my cranks then. I'm trying to save some money and not have to buy a bunch a new set ups but I wanna expand my fishing. also with this rod and reel I'd really like to get out and catch a fish or two with it being my grandfathers. He was the fisherman and that is who my first memory with a fish came from so it would really be awesome. Any way I can find out how old this reel is? I have seen the Abu Garcia site where I found the schematics but not the year
  7. So the past years I have always just carried 2 set ups with me fishing. One bait cast and one spinning setup. Fishing like this requires a lot of retrying lures. This year I'm trying to get a few more setups and would like some opinions on what setups to use for what. I have a few old setup so pulled out to try and save some money. I'd just like some more experienced opinions on some gear with different techniques of fishing. I currently have: 3 bait cast set ups ( one without a reel) 3 spinning setups Bait cast: Johnny Morris carbonlite 7'M fast action with the 6:4:1 ratio reel My grandfathers Abu Garcia ambassadeur 5500c on a 7'MH mod.action fen wick inshore rod And a 7'MH fast action St.Croix mojo bass rod. (Spinnerbait model) I just bought. I plan on pairing this with a 7:1:1 BPS Pro qualifier. Spinning: Pflueger president size 35 on a BPS GRAPHITE rod. 6'6" MH fast action Old dawia 6'6" m 2pc rod with Dawia DS-130/R2F reel (found this with the ambassadeur and it seems to work fine, any information on this would be great.) And an old 5'10 M xfast ugly stick with a Sahara reel. So if all you had were these 6 set ups how would you rig them??? What would you use for what and what setup would you be saving up for next? Just trying to figure the best technique and the best way to rig up and use each setup. I fish everything from small ponds in the woods to large reservoir lakes. Soft plastics, frogs, spinners, buzz baits, rat.l.traps. Trying to get more into jig fishing and crank and jerk baits this year. Really wanna fish jigs a lot as I never really have. Also what do you think about the pro qualifier on the mojo bass? If not any other suggestions?
  8. Last year I got a BPS Johnny Morris carbon lite combo with the micro guides and I absolutely love it! Not one problem from the rod or reel. The rod is right At 100$ also I believe. I loved the micro guides on that rod and went looking for another micro guide rod this year. Recently was looking at the credit as but every rod I picked up had messed up guides. Either too crooked for me to feel comfortable or loose and wiggly feeling. I ended up walking out with a st.croix mojo bass with regular guides because I just could find a Abu in good condition in the store. I have also heard this from others. Although I am still considering this rod when it Goes on sale. I I can find a good one. But I would suggest looking at the bps Johnny Morris carbon lite if you don't mind BPS brand rods. Never had any problems with mine and it is light and comfortable to have in your hand all day on the water.
  9. So I just recently found my grandfathers old ambassadeur 5500c in the garage. It's in real good shape for its age. Has been sitting in a drawer in the garage for at least 15 years. I have now taken it apart to clean and re lube. It was set up on a 7' mh fenwick inshore rod. Not sure what my grandfather used it for but I was hoping to spool it up and take it out a time or two to see how it works. I have seen people use these reels for LM bass, and striper and other saltwater species which might be what I set this up for. Was just wondering if anyone has this same reel and still uses it. If so what do you find it most useful for and what size/type of line would you recommend I try.
