  1. I didn't have any issues at all with casting with a little play in the spool when I was playing around with mine it just felt a little smoother to me when I backed mine up a hair.
  2. I got a tatula elite for Christmas this year. It has the same zero adjuster on it. Mine actually came a little tight from the factory. I loosened mine up until I felt spool play and then just tightened back up a smidge. I have no problems bombing spinnerbaits/crankbaits with it. It may seem really loose on spool tension (rate at which bait drops will be really quick if you're not used to it) but I have only backlashed once due to line with crappy memory. I don't even have to thumb the spool either except at the end of the cast. Seeing how the tatula elite uses a similar design to the tatula 100 I would have to imagine it is a really good reel. I love my tatula elite.
  3. Thank you for the responses. I went to bass pro just over a year ago and took a look at the bps crankin' sticks. I didn't really care for how they felt in my hand. I was looking at the dobyns fury 705cb. It says that the secondary techniques would include spinnerbaits. Has anyone used this rod as a spinnerbait rod? If I decided to go with this rod it would serve as my 3/8-1/2 spinnerbait rod but also be occasionally used for SB, shallow to medium and traps at times.
  4. I'm looking to add a moderate action crankbait rod to my collection. It's primary use would be for crankbaits up to a 6xd (1oz). I would like it to be somewhat a multipurpose cranking rod if possible. I do not use crankbaits a ton so that is the reason I am placing a budget on it. I currently have a powell endurance 755cb with a daiwa tatula elite 6.3:1 (which I am absolutely in love with btw. Great reel.) that I'm using for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, squarebills, etc. I would like to throw a bb1 pro 7.1:1 on that rod and add the tatula elite to the new cb rod. The rods I'm currently looking at are the 7'6 David fritts Lews perfect crankbait, 13 fishing 7'3 chrome cb and the chat' crank 7'4. I have seen good reviews on the chrome cb and also the David fritts as far as cranking goes. I am not sure about the chat 'r crank. I am open to any suggestions as well. I am hoping to purchase the rod at tackle warehouse to take advantage of the veterans discount during their Memorial Day sale. Thanks.
  5. Same here. Mine will be here on Monday.
  6. Disney is a good spot. I usually stay in Kissimmee about 6 miles from Disney. I have gone fishing with my wife there on 2 6 hour trips over the past 5 years. It costs about 350 for 6 hours, about $100 for bait (extra large shiners are $20 per dozen at the lake Toho marina), and whatever you tip the guide. As far as parks go Epcot may be a good one at Disney to pop the question. You can eat a celebratory dinner around the world there afterwards. My wife and I are going again in April. I probably won't do a fishing trip this time because we are trying to save money to redo the bathroom but always had a good time on guided trip down there. My biggest bass I caught on those trips was 5 lb 15 oz but you may get a bigger one. Lake Toho is huge (30000 acres).
  7. I bought the endurance 755cb rod last Christmas but have not used it that much for crankbaits yet. I do have to say that I think it is a really good quality rod for $140. It is also the lightest rod I own I think at 3.3 oz. The only thing I don't like about it is the hook keeper which has bent a couple times on me. I mostly have used it for spinnerbait fishing so far. I plan on using it more with crankbaits as well this season. I just added a tatula elite 6.3:1 to this rod and I am anxious to see what it can do.

  9. Thank you for all the input. It was very helpful. My wife just bought me the Tatula Cxh-3000 for my bday/vday gift on tackle warehouse. I can't wait to test it out in April.
  10. I think I would probably go with the 3000 for the larger knob. One thing i just just noticed when doing more research is that it appears that the handle is not secured to the body with the hex key style insert with a screw cap at the end. It looks like both ends just screw into the body on each side. I don't have much experience with this style of reel. I have an older abu Garcia orra s with this style handle (I realize it's a $70 reel vs. a $190 reel) and it has a little bit of play to it. My question is how well this type of handle holds up on these reels? Thanks.
  11. i am kind of leaning towards the 3000.
  12. I'm looking to upgrade my spinning setup this year with a daiwa tatula lt spinning reel. I am looking at the talt2000d-Xh and the talt3000-cxh. I fish mostly wacky rigs and sometimes dropshot and shakey heads on this setup on a 7' med fast carbonlite rod (this will be upgraded next year to maybe a 13 rod). I am planning on using 10 lb Stren magnathin to increase my line capacity. My question is there any discernible differences in casting with the deep spool versus the standard spool? Which one would you recommend with this setup? Thank you.
  13. I was wondering if anyone knew any articles on the science of why bass choose certain spots for spawning locations. Like what specifically they look for concerning sunlight, wind, cover, structure etc for bedding locations. This time period has always been one that has puzzled me and given me the most difficulty as far as finding fish so I wanted to try to get a head start to study where I should be looking for them in the spring when the water is close to 60 degrees. I looked at a bunch of articles on the site and didn't really see too much as far as what I'm looking for. Thank you.
  14. I use a st Croix premier split grip 6'6" medium power fast action for senkos paired now with the Lews Mach I
  15. I just ordered the Lews Mach I speed spin T200 reel from tackle warehouse. I'll give that one a shot. Same price as president but 2 ounces lighter and more in line with line capacity that I'm looking for. It also has 5 more IPT I was looking for closer to my Sahara.
  16. I may end up trying the president. I just wish the IPT was higher. My Sahara is 35 and the president is 27. It's cheaper than the alternatives and I already got a new pole ( duckett ghost) and reel (Lews tournament pro ss) this year so I don't want to push it too much with the wifey because I already have too much stuff in her mind. I really do want to play with the new Lews spinning reels though.
  17. I did see that when I was looking online earlier minus the 15 percent discount but they don't have the size 35 reel. Thank you though.
  18. I was already looking at both the president and the LE models. I'd have to get the 35 model otherwise when I spooled it with 10 lb test there would only be 80 yards of line on the reel. I used a conversion program to calculate the capacity. It's kind of weird when you go from 6 to 8 lb test on the 35 model there's a difference of 45 yards but when you go to the 30 model it lists only a 15 yard difference.
  19. anyone tried the new Lews tournament metal speed spin reels yet? Looking at the T200 model.
  20. I'm looking for a spinning reel. I did not really see anything in that list of threads. Any suggestions on models to look at?
  21. I'm looking to get a new spinning reel for my rod I'm using mostly for senko fishing this year. I currently have a shim and Sahara I'm looking to replace with a new reel and put on the rod my wife uses for bait fishing when she comes with me. It has a crack in the graphite or plastic w/e it is underneath where the line roller on the bail is. I know I could probably fill it with silicone or something but would rather just get a new reel. I was looking at the president but read a bunch of reviews where after being in a rain storm it started being noisy and not working very well. I don't want to have to lubricate a reel every time it gets wet. I've been looking at some Lews reels since I've bought a couple of their baitcasters in the past couple years and absolutely loved them. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a reel to look at. Thanks guys.
  22. If you know the IPT of your reel you could always count the number of turns with your reel handle to figure it out. I typically cast about 40 yards with a half ounce spinnerbait on a 6'6 fast action rod. I got a new reel one time and was curious how far it would cast. You just multiply the number of turns by your IPT and divide by 12 for feet and 36 for yards.
  23. I usually spool about half of my reel with cheap mono and then put on the braid so about 50 to 60 yards or so of 30 lb braid.
  24. Thanks for the videos. I've never heard of the fg knot. Always used the Alberto knot.
  25. I got the bb1 pro last year which is similar to the pro g minus line capacity and won't buy a different brand now. By far the best reel I own. Bought the old tournament pro on sale this year paid only 50 bucks for it after gift cards can't wait to try that one too
