Finally received all the parts to finish the installation on my HB 798. It has the side imaging transducer on transom with shoot thru and y cable. Before hooking up the shoot thru and y cable, when in shop (no water) the screen would still show a scrolling while in side imaging mode. Now that both the side imaging and shoot thru are hooked up it does not scroll while on the SI screen. Just a black screen. Should I be concerned or just wait until I can actually get it out on the lake? Just seems weird that it would scroll before like it was scanning but not now.

I would imagine that transducer was just a fluke and the new one will probably last you forever. Great to continue hearing positive reports of HB's customer service.

Nevermind. Appears it does not need a switch.

Thanks Wayne. Will I need a switch? How will the unit know which transducer to pull from? Any suggestions as to where to purchase these items?

Just bought a HB 798 w/ side imaging and was hoping some of the pros here could help me pick the best spot on the transom to mount the transducer. The Skeeter transom has a step to it and I have no jackplate. So by looking at the pictures where do you think would be the best spot. The lakes I fish are small 300 acres and under so most of my scanning will be at or around idle speeds. Thanks
