  1. My most expensive rod Is a Dobyns champ extreme, retails for $340. While a very nice rod and I like it, not worth it IMO. My less expensive rods ($100 -$140) I like just as much. Most expensive reels are at $200 each, a Lews tournament pro and pro z. I like my two Shimano castitas better which retail for $100.
  2. Yes, a very good frog, as many out there are. Good hookup ratios. youll be fine.
  3. I use older line that’s laying around, really any you want. Keep it simple.
  4. That is a beauty, nice going.
  5. Very nice reels. Bought one at the start of last year, liked it so much just bought another a couple months ago. Comfortable in hand, cast great, very happy with them. I like em better then my Lews tournament pro, team Lews pro z, tournament mb’s, and *** ***. While all these are very good reels imo, the casitas are my new favorites.
  6. Had a decent day on Saturday 6/9. Managed 23 bass in the boat. The best three were in the 4’s lbs coming on three different lures. A 110 whopper plopper, a shallow crank, and 5” soft stick bait. Couple pics of the better fish.
  7. I use 30 on two spinning setups. Works well, no issues at all. Both on 6’6” rods for super tight and close combat. Hollow body frogs, t/rig plastics, and jigs.
  8. Hello and welcome Chris, enjoy the forums!
  9. I use an Okuma EVX 6’8” M -mod fast, rated 1/8 thru 3/4. Works well for multiple techniques. I use a 6.3:1 reel, 27” per turn. Retails around $109.
  10. Did well today with close to 30 bass in the boat. This was the best of the day coming on a Jackal kaera red frog.
  11. Congrats, enjoy the high!
  12. Lews TP-1 speedstick, 7’3” MH mod. Rated 1/2 thru 1 and 3/8. I don’t throw deep cranks, but would be perfect for this. I use for larger rattle traps, spinnerbaits, and my favorites topwaters/wakebaits.
  13. Bass Pro shops 5 3/8 Stik-O. This is the only brand and size I’ve been throwing for well .....since they came out.lol. Manns baby 1- minus for the hard baits 14 of them.
  14. Top water: Black when sunny, bone/white when cloudy. Crankbait: bluegill. Jig: green pumkin/orange. Plastics: green pumkin/red .
  15. Out on the bass hunter today. Boated 19 bass, shallow cranks (bps the egg, h20 wake), 110 whopper plopper, Jackal Kaera frog doing the damage.
  16. Welcome, enjoy the forums!
  17. Abu Garcia Vengeance 6’ 6” MH works well for this. I have 30 lb braid on mine. Great also for t/rigs, jigs etc. This rod rated for 3/8 to 3/4. Rod comes in 7’ MH also. Rated 1/4 to 3/4. I use the 6-6 model for close combat and tight spots. Retails for around $50.
  18. 1 oz lures like the rat 40 and whopper plopper 110 are the heaviest I throw. I use a Lews TP-1 speedstick 7’3” MH mod, rated 1/2 oz to 1 and 3/8 oz works great for me. Also would work well for the other lures you mention within these ratings, plus various crankbaits. Very happy with this rod.
  19. Congrats, enjoy the high!
