  1. Jig Jerkbait Crankbait Dropshot
  2. 10-15lb braid on the spinning, 15-20lb flouro on the casting rod. If I could add a 3rd setup, it would be a 7' Medium, moderate action rod with a 5.4:1 casting reel and 12 lb flouro for all of your crankbaits.
  3. Docks with a fluke and rocks with a football jig
  4. You have to set it like you mean it when you bring an ultralight to a stream and find it full of 30 lb king salmon in logjams! The Texas rig is a great way to night fish, but use a larger bait than you would normally use, in a dark colour, and then dip the tail in some chartreuse JJ's magic. Works wonders on the bass.
  5. I have had a 60$ lost day. Lost crankbaits, ruined a spool of line, and while trying to retrieve my cranks, I lost my lure retriever. I'm glad my legend tournament made it through that day...
  6. Went to a river close by to do some trout fishing. Was drifting a wooly bugger fly under a float, right on a transition between very fast water and still water. Float shoots down, and I set into a nice rainbow. a minute later, I had him unhooked and was holding him up for a picture, and he almost flopped right into my shirt. Guess he was camera shy... About a half hour later, I hooked another rainbow, about the exact same size as the first, in the exact same spot. This time, I was drifting a 2" power minnow below a float. Got this one in, and he was a lot calmer. Next fish came 10 mins later, when as I was reeling in my rig to make another drift, a baby brown trout SLAMS my power minnow. Thinking it is a big rainbow, I set the hook hard, and he comes in relatively easy, only to come off right at my feet (I was wading). Next, I tied on a 1/16oz pink jighead with a 1" pink tube, trying to get into some browns in the still water. Pitched right up against the current line where I caught the 3 trout, and get slammed by none other than.... Mr Largemouth! I didn't even know that there were largemouth in the river! Was only about 1/2lb, but was all beat up,with a torn tail and fins, and a big scar down his side. Last fish came on the last drift of the day, this time on an egg pattern fly. Another baby brown, again, comes off right at my feet. Didn't catch a whole lot, but the rainbows were beautiful, and the bass was a nice surprise. Great couple hours down at the river.
  7. I love cranking and spinnerbait fishing. But my favourite type of fishing is fishing steelhead in small creeks. That is a blast!
  8. Beauty, what did you catch him (or her) on?
  9. You will love it! By far my favourite reel.
  10. VMC wacky heads are great, haven't really used any other brands though.
  11. Was hammering the smallies and rock bass at a river the other day on a spinner. Other than that, I don't use them too often.
  12. Travel light so you can be mobile. Also, never EVER get into water covered in pond scum. You will become best friends with a lot of leeches, bugs, etc.
  13. Avid 7' ML spinning rod w/ Daiwa Ballistic 2500 spinning reel and 8lb Fireline braid. Dropshot, and light shaky head.
  14. Thats what i was thinking too.
  15. I believe that they are the same as the Chronarch CI4
  16. Nice nice say it twice. I always miss these deals for some reason... Let us know how you do on them.
  17. I have recently gone 100% barbless on everything. Had some bad experiences with a muskie putting a BIG treble in my dads hand while trying to unhook it, and proceeding to flop out of his hands, into the water, and take off, ripping the hook out of his hand, and taking another big treble with him as a souvenir (if i put it like that I don't feel as bad). I have yet to lose one fish this season, and the few times i have gotten myself hooked, it has made it much easier and less painful to remove the hooks. It also makes hook removal 100X easier, especially when a fish has takes multiple hooks fairly deep.
  18. Stay within the line recommendations on the rod blank, loosen up your drag a little bit, your rod should be fine. I am a light tackle enthusiast, and i have caught some nice fish on ultralight gear. They put up a great fight.
