Help Me Pick My Next Spinning Setup
I have a Symetre 1000 that I love, but I wouldn't use mono on it. Too many coils. It is perfect for 3-5lb braids though,

4Lb Line, What Hooks And Soft Plastics For Bass?
Set your drag, you have it for a reason. All too often I see guys muscling fish in on 50lb braid not using the drag at all. The fish in my avatar was caught on 4lb leader. I have caught some nice smallies on 2lb as well. Use sharp hooks and wet your knots.

Crawfish Pattern
I was messing around at the vice the other day and tied up a little crawfish pattern. The tail and feelers are upside-down and I forgot to add legs, but I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out. Here are the materials I used: Claws: Olive bucktail Feelers: Jig skirt material Eyes: 3/16'' dumbell eyes Body: Brown chennile Tail: Olive bucktail Thread: Ultra Thread 140 denier - gray Hook: Gamakatsu Traditional Series size 6 Bead: 3/16'' black brass bead Rib: 10lb Trilene XL

Southern Ontario Guys - Water Temps??
No ice on most of my lakes, I'm about 4 hours away from Smith Falls but I wouldn't imagine there would be any ice. Water right now is still pretty cold, couldn't buy a panfish the other day, even using 1/64th oz hair jigs, but I would imagine the bite would pick up in the next few weeks. You're in zone 18 up there, so I don't think bass is open until 3rd Saturday in June, but there should be great opportunities for Walleye, Muskie and Pike. Be sure to check the regulations before you go up, and have a fun trip!

Opinions On Latest Purchase
Yea be careful when wading. Wear a wading belt and always wade where you can see bottom. The lures sound like they should catch fish. Enjoy your new purchase!

Trying To Start A Tackle Box. Looking For Some Help.
Maybe don't get it all at once. It would suck to have 5-6 of those jigs only to realize you hate using them. Some inline spinners would make a good addition to any tackle box.

Spybait Setup?
I had some good sucess using spybaits last year, mainly using whatever dropshot type rod I have on hand. I was wondering what rod and reel you guys were using for this technique. Also, does anyone have experience with using spybaits on braid? I want to use 5lb PP for them, but have heard that they only perform well on fluorocarbon. I tried using fluorocarbon on a spinning reel while using them, and while I had good sucess, I didn't care for the way the line handled. Any insight would be appreciated.

A Series Of Unfortunate Steelheading Events
Our opener is next weekend! We'll be fishing for dropbacks for sure. Going for panfish and carp (I know...) tomorrow - tired of getting skunked on steelhead. I have heard that most of the fish here have already spawned, so opener might not be so amazing.

Tiny creeks and super clear water - lighter leaders. I always keep a spool of 3, 4, 6 and 8 on hand. I have watched steelhead move out of the way of 6lb flourocarbon leader while it was drifting through a pool. Longer noodle rods help protect the light leaders.

Dumb Question -_-
Exactly. We catch the same rock bass here 4-5 times in a row on the same bait. As soon as you release it, you can pich back to it and it will bite again. They aren't the smartest creatures.
