Dorm Room Angler! A Few Of My Tips And Tricks
Try packing what you mentioned in an Accord! The looks I get from people when they look in my car is priceless. I think you're good. A suggestion for your room would be to use command hooks, 2 of them, and run a line between the two and hang your cranks and stuff from the line. Who knows, you might want to rise the blinds one day.

How Many Rods Do You Carry When On The Bank?
4. If something presents it's self I will use my jig rod to tie on. Jig rod for me is my junk rod when bank fishing. Bold is when I have to trek through the wilderness and lighten my gear. Jig rod will work from below surface to the bottom. Frog staying on top. I have access to the entire water column when I fish. Frog Senko Crankbait Jig/Junk Rod

Spring Froggin
Yesterday was the first day above freezing in over a month. I'm a long way away from throwing a frog unless I'm skipping it on ice!

How do you like throwing the Field Mouse? Conditions you throw it? I've close to buying several times but bought more frogs instead.

I agree with the replies listed here. The major point that I will add is: HAVE A FOLLOW UP BAIT! There are a lot of times when I will use a frog as a search bait. Once they strike/swat at it, I will either give it one more cast or go to my follow up bait. My preferred follow up is a GYCB 5" Senko Green Pumpkin with Black or Gold flake. I will drop it where the strike occurred. One of the two will get the fish to the boat. Here are other things to consider: Growth of vegetation (weeds and lily pads). Water temps around 50 or above. I mostly use booyah, spro, and livetarget. I have around 10-20 of each. I have a bunch other frogs but these three brands are my go to frogs. I have some of Bobby's 'stuff' but not too crazy about it. If I want to throw a buzzbait thats what I will do. Color: I've been a traditional natural color with white/cream/light yellow underbelly person. Last summer fish were smoking white and the natural colors were struggling to catch quality. First time I have ever seen this. Moral of the story is to adjust with what the fish want. I have a wide assortment of colors greens/natural, blacks, and whites. 7+ gear ratio reel. Take up slack line quickly. Summer months I will throw frogs in all water and weather conditions except heavy wind. I'm not much of a popper. I have them. Poppers are backups for me if other frogs are not working.

Froggin Advice
1. Widening the hooks will help. 2. In the "wait" period, you have to reel in the slack. Some don't do this enough. 3. Make sure when you set the hook you are going straight up/12 o'clock. Off to the side will reduce hook sets. Hope this help. This is the short version of what I see folks do wrong. Maybe one will help. FF

Stay away from S11's. Waste of money. Didn't make it through one summer as fishing only sunglasses. If you can afford it go for Costa or Oakley.

Locking Up Your Goodies...
Thank you for all of your suggestions! For the most part, your suggestions are very practical. I am taking several under consideration. I have looked at the gun locker type of contraption since we have several on the property. No one has touched these lockers let alone tried to get a gun out. I have several plans that include building a shed within a shed as a rod-locker. Ultimately, building such a unit is time wasted on the lakes fishing so I have passed. I have come to grips that no one can be trusted with, what I deem, valuables. Family included. As much as it could be seen as a shame; it's an opportunity for me to increase the longevity of my stuff. Over the past 2 years I have been transporting my goodies, several hours, in a car in addition to a lot of home stuff my bride wants to drag up there. 5 rods plus all this other junk/treasure, depending on who you ask, is starting to make an already full car very tight. Hawg, you're right. It's Shangri-La! Thanks again!! FF

Locking Up Your Goodies...
I am stumped with a pressing issue and I am hoping someone has a suggestion. I have a amassed a healthy amount of fishing gear. This gear is kept at a family cabin. I am looking for a way to lock my stuff up in our shed while I am not there. I am most concerned with my dozen or so rods. After weeks and weeks of searching, I have found nothing to lock-up and store rods and reels. Tackle will be stored in rubbermaid type box with a lock. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance for the help! FF

How Do You Know What Kind Of Frog To Use?
I'm believer in what has been mentioned above. Don't out fox yourself! For me, "wrong frog fishing" is color of belly based. White and lighter colors (up to light green/yellow) work best for me. Leg trailer color? Trim them so they are proportional to the body minus 1/2 inch or less. I've never experienced bad leg color. Open the hooks with pliers to increase hook up. After this, the fish will dictate. Listen to them! I always have a frog rigged and fish it when I know my odds aren't good. The fish breaking the surface, warmer water temps, and two types of survive vegetation in one place are the best indications I use to know when to throw a frog. I have caught slabs on poppers, bronze eye, live target, etc... In and out of harsh conditions. I fan cast because I don't use electronics. I'll start from the bank and work out to fish parallel to cover/bank. My .02. FF

Rain Protection
gulfcaptain and others are on point in this thread! FroggToggs are a decent alternative to rain gear but not ideal for fishing. The material is so light my previous rain suit did not handle hooks and all things fishing well. Side note, I hike and ATV to my lakes when I fish needless to say my FT got banged up to the point were I was wet and cold while wearing them in the rain. Early in the fall, I decided to buy an Under Armour rain suit and was not disappointed! All fall this gear kept me dry wherever I went on and off the lakes. For me, rain suits are in the same category of sunglasses: you get what you pay for.

How Is The Booyah Pad Crasher Frog
Word! The top of the bait will look like garbage with all the strike you get. What the top of the bait looks like doesn't mean much to me. The bottom of the bait is more important than the top from a color stand point. I do some modifications: bend the hooks out, trim the skirt/legs, and darken the braid with black sharpie. I use standard Crasher and a few poppers. For me, the Jr. does an OK job but I adhere to the adage of bigger bait bigger fish! Colors: I have tried them all. Black and white don't attract as many hits as various shades of green & some yellows. I love lighter color bellies: whites, green, soft yellow. Trailers/Legs: I like variety: black, green, yellow. FF
