  1. Jig fishing is good year round and is one of the most versatile baits. You can work a jig in many different was such as swimming or stroking it, but dragging a jig on the bottom is probably the most effective way to work it. Trailers aren't required but when the tails of the jig kick, it gives it alot more action which leads to more bites.. Hope this helps!
  2. 5" green pumpkin senko 7" trick worm on a shakey head Any craw colored squarebill And of course a jig
  3. Great line! I would get it on sale while you still can.
  4. I like to throw shakey heads on a 7 foot medium action baitcasting rod.. I find it easier to to fish casting gear so thats the way I go.
  5. Id go with the Speed Spool. Ive owned a couple of the Skeet Reese reels and they are decent for $80, but id pay the extra $20 for a SS..
  6. i just bought a Phenix x-9 cranking rod for $200. Great rod!
  7. During spawn/Post-spawn, searchbaits are great for finding fish but when you find them, you might have to slow it down with something like a jig to pick up the bigger bass. In early spring i feel like you have to fish slow the whole time to find the bass. The fish will be more lethargic and wanting an easy meal. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits will still be god for finding fish, but slowing down the retrieve is key.
  8. Flourocarbon is great for crank baits, spinner baits, jerk baits etc.. monofilament floats and also has a lot of stretch in it. When your'e fishing something like a suspending jerkbait, you don't want the line to float because it wont allow the bait to suspend. Also when using something like a crank bait, the stretch in monofilament can hurt the hook-set seeing how crankbait rods are already very forgiving. Flouro is just a much better line all around. The only thing i recommend mono for is top water.
  9. I would go with a Shaky head or slow rolling a crank bait. If the bass aren't on a reaction bite, you can usually pick a few up by dragging a shaky head work really slow.
  10. Yes I just hook a senko weedless. No weight. Sometimes if its windy ill put a pinch weight on. This is my most effective bait when the fish are bedding. And the only reason why i mentioned the weights is because the initial post says that he doesn't like carrying weights around.
  11. Jerk Bait is definitely the bait i need more confidence in.
  12. I prefer a shaky head for the colder spring fishing. Once the the water temp gets to about 60-65 I like to use a texas rigged senko with NO bullet weight. The slow fall drives the bass crazy, cant keep em' off your hook! And plus, with a weightless senko, you wont have to carry around weights.
  13. I usually peg my weight just because i feel like i get hung up less.. it doesnt really matter though..
  14. My advice would be to fish main lake points. The bass are going to start moving up and main lake points are the first place they are going to move up on. Give these prespawn fish 3 main presentations: finesse(shaky head, senko), reaction(jerkbait/crankbait) and something with a bigger profile like a football head jig. You can usually figure out a pattern using those three techniques. Spring time is all about grinding it out!
  15. I will be fishing the 2014 FLW Rayovac series this year as a co-angler. Ive fished a lot of local state tournaments but never fished as a coangler on the back of a pro's boat. Any advice would help. Thanks!
  16. There are some good lakes in Denver such as Aurora and Quincy. My favorite place to fish is Pueblo Res. and the Valco Ponds right behind the dam of Pueblo. Those ponds hold some big bass. I know that there is a Denver bassmasters club that you can join. I fish in the Fountain Valley club that runs out of the Springs. Hope the advice helps!
  17. My advice would to include any tournaments that you have done well in. Also put in future tournaments you plan on attending so the companies know exactly how big of a level that you can promote them on.
  18. Texas rig the rage craw with a really light tungsten weight. I throw it on a 3/0 hook with a 1/8th ounce bullet weight. The slow fall drives the bass nuts. Great bait! I use it all year round.
  19. I fish alot of local ponds with muddy/weedy bottoms. I found that a texas rigged tube is a great alternative for a jig. It also brings in alot less mud and leaves on your lure.
