  1. Which is one more reason to support the investment group which formerly included Rush. This group was formed to keep the Rams in St. Louis. All those in St. Louis who disapproved of letting Rush be even a minority partner (with no voice in the operation of the team) might change their tune when the Rams eventually pack up and leave town.
  2. ...and yet it's ok for NBC to force Keith Olberman down my throat every Sunday Night.
  3. I root for the Rams (uggh), Cardinals, and any team that plays the Patriots!
  4. It's just about impossible to guess the weight of a bass from a picture...but that's a great fish regardless of the weight.
  5. I can't get enough of these trip pics, but would it kill you to include a picture of the girl once in a while? Sheesh!
  6. Minnows are around $2.50/dozen for large. You normally get more than you pay for, but even the large are seldom longer than 2". Goldfish are legal in Missouri and very popular for flatheads. We use throw nets for live shad when catfishing. When we get more than we can use, we freeze the excess, still a great bait even months later. Reminder: when you're done fishing, don't throw leftover live bait in the lake.
  7. Great story Micro. I'll add my 2 cents: Do take it easy after the surgery. You may feel fine after a couple of days, but lift anything heavy and you'll be hurtin' for certain. Put a kid on your shoulders and you'll add a week to your recovery. Don't vacuum, don't help with the dishes, just rest.
  8. Darren, I sent you a PM. We fished the pits this past weekend and had a ball. Never went very long without a bite. The water dropped from 65 to 61 over the 4 days we were out, but the fishing never shut off. We caught 'em shallow and deep. Early morning, mid-day, or early evening didn't matter. Water should be few degrees cooler next weekend...but don't let that stop you! Dan
  9. Well done! I usually say "Just one more cast" about 50 times before it sticks.
  10. Holy crap...and no thank you.
  11. 1. Senko (motor oil/red flake) I always feel like there's a chance to catch a fish with a senko, regardless of the conditions. 2. 3/8 oz Bullet style jig n pig (brown/green) versatile jig you can swim or crawl. Produces good fish regardless of bottom composition. 3. Rapala DT-4 (shad) Good search bait. Fun to fish. 4. *** solid body frog. Fish it fast or slow. Open water or over the weeds. Also a fun fish catcher.
  12. Try running it through the dishwasher. That should take care of the sticky keys.
  13. Great fish. Was it skinny? That frame sure looks like it could support more than 8 pounds.
  14. I agree 100%! I'll even schedule days off based on the forecast, too bad it's seldom accurate. The days I struggle the most are bluebird skies and falling temps. Those are live bait days to be sure.
  15. I don't know what kind of scale it is, but that is a GREAT close-up photo.
  16. Missing all data plates sounds kind of sketchy. Do you have a title for this boat? Serial number? Anything?
  17. Here's a carcass story that my grandpa used to tell. Years ago when they were pouring the foundation for the Memorial Bridge over the Mississippi river in Quincy, a worker fell in. Since it was impossible to save the man they continued with the pour. When the forms were removed the sole of the man's shoe was visible above the water line. After some time the shoe disintegrated and my grandpa said you could pull your boat up to the bridge and pick at the bones in the man's feet.
  18. Here's the original post on the mastodon from last year. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1220321183/0 It's a great find, but not as rare as a dinosaur. A local expert guessed it to be from a juvenile male, from about 10,000+ years ago. This spring I actually found a tusk to go along with it. But the tusk was less than 6 inches long...cool to be sure, but I was hoping for more The university sent a few people out with metal rods to probe the ground around where we found it. They found a couple more bone chips, but not enough to justify the expense of digging up the area. For now we just go out there a couple times a year, usually after a hard rain near the eroding bank and poke around. Maybe someday we'll find more.
  19. Then it's gotta be...bacon!
  20. Not sure what your definition of a carcass is...but last year we found a mastodon jaw bone.
  21. It's been a while since I filled a stringer. Nice job!
  22. Throw 'em on ice immediately after catching. Makes cleaning a whole lot easier.
