  1. 1. Take my kids fishing more often 2. Stop obsessing over catching a new PB 3. Enjoy every minute on the water
  2. Best: The Office Worst: Cop Rock
  3. I always lose sunglasses. I especially had trouble with glasses falling off of my head into the lake. Finally the kids bought me some floating sunglasses from Wally World and they worked great. P.S. I thought the title of this post was funny. I can't remember my "First tme buying sunglasses" but I've probably bought over 100 pairs in my life, never spending more than $20.
  4. Tyler Hansbrough and his brother Ben used to come to Cape Girardeau from Poplar Bluff HS and hammer the local boys on a regular basis. I HATED them. Now that Tyler's at UNC I find myself rooting for him. It almost makes me sick to say this, but...Go UNC!
  5. Looks like a nice rig. Have fun breaking it in.
  6. I coach 3 basketball teams in the winter. Been doing this since my 17 year old was in 3rd grade and really like it. I coach softball in the summer, and soccer in the spring and fall. On Thursdays I bowl...
  7. I really like the BPS rods. A great value and perfect for my budget. I like the extremes, pro-qualifier, crankin' stick, even the tourney special. I've only bought 1 Cabelas branded item, a new prodigy baitcaster that I put on my BPS Pro-Qualifier rod. They seem to get along just fine I think the store brands, on sale, are some of the best deals going.
  8. I'm going to place a bet that those weren't caught on the same line, or even by the same fisherman. I'm thinking one of those little bass belongs to Avid...
  9. It only takes one to be a good day, but it's gotta be the right one.
  10. If any of you guys are ever traveling through Cape Girardeau, Missouri (midway between Memphis and St. Louis on I-55) shoot me a PM. If I can get off work...and I usually can...I'd be happy to save a seat for you in the back of my jon. BadHabit took me fishing in Florida...Dink took me fishing near Columbia. It's about time I return the favor.
  11. Let me suggest these running lights from Cabelas. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0019050017532a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=boat+light&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=boat+light&noImage=0 No wiring needed, they are LED so they use very little power, and they run on 2, DD batteries. They claim to work for 100 hours on one set of batteries. I've run mine for 2 full seasons on the original batteries. The battery compartment is sealed with rubber O-rings, but I don't take chances, I pop the lights off after every trip. As far as a bilge, I just use a milk jug with a big hole cut in the top.
  12. If high school taught me anything it's that when a clique is formed you have 2 choices: 1. Suck up to the clique members, and hope they include you. This will now be called Pulling a Zel' 2. Make fun of the clique from a distance. That said, I think your clique should include Catt or Matt Fly, just in case you guys decide to actually try to, you knowcatch a fish or something. :
  13. i boycot this guy! i club baby seals and i am a die hard cub fan! My grandma was a lifelong Cardinals fan, then she started watching games on WGN and switched to rooting for the Cubs. We figured she was going insane and stuck her in a nursing home. :
  14. Are men allowed in this club or is it just you girls? :-/
  15. I'm going to side with Grimlin on this one. The autopsy was inconclusive, and there was no suicide note. It may have been intentional or it may have been an accident, but why the rush to label the guy before his family can even get him in the ground?
  16. I've definitely had more hits than misses from this website, but one thing that I haven't had much luck with is Fat Ikas. I don't doubt the success others have had with this bait, but it hasn't been a consistent performer for me. That said, I'm not giving up on them, yet.
  17. I save my hate for people who club baby seals and root for the Cubs. I've got no problem with any company that's in business to help me catch fish.
  18. A lot of this depends on how much you like mounts. Pictures are fine for me, so it would take a 3 pounder to make me think about dropping $200 on a mount. That said, I've seen beatiful mounts of 2 pounders.
  19. I'd have to vote BPS. Extreme, Pro-Qualifier, Bionic Blade, Crankin' Stick, all great values when on sale...which is often. All Star is a close 2nd. Sorry, don't own anything high end to compare to.
  20. When I was a kid the man next door was a fisherman. He'd come home after dark with stringers filled with bass, bluegill, walleye, and cats. Some huge fish, too. He'd tell me all about how he caught 'em and what he caught 'em on. I was hooked before I ever held a rod. When he had a garage sale I bought his old zebco 202 on a whippy little fiberglass rod. I'd ride my bike to the park, and the the pond at the high school and fish all day for whatever would eat a worm. I've never looked back.
  21. I don't know where this fits, but my favorite part is when the fish grabs the bait and you get that rush of adrenaline right before you set the hook. It's probably just another dink, but it could be the fish of a lifetime, at that moment you just don't know.
  22. I night fish from Memorial Day to Labor Day (roughly). I wonder what you all consider night fishing...For me it starts around sunset, and goes 'til about 10 or 11, sometimes later, but seldom all night. How bout you?
