  1. When I was single I used to play a lot of golf, bowled 3 nights a week, road motorcycles, and fished. Now I've got a wife and 4 happy, healthy daughters. I haven't played a round of golf since last year. I sold my motorcycle 10 years ago and I only bowl once a week (9pm league, the little ones are in bed). BUT I'm fishing as much as I ever have! I wouldn't change a thing.
  2. 1972 16 foot Ozark Tri-Hull. White with a green racing stripe and a 65 horse Evinrude. MINT condition. Little old lady wanted $3,200 hundred for it. My buddy and I were going to go in 50-50 on it. Then he talked her down to $1,600. I told him that for $1,600 I didn't need his help and I bought it out from under his nose. : 20 years later and he still gives me grief.
  3. Very nice fish (especially by Missouri standards ) Keep whackin' 'em! Dan
  4. I think Fish Chris looks a lot like Nick Nolte. What do you think? ;D ;D ;D
  5. Here's a simple one from Catt that's helped me a bunch fishing jigs this year. The 3 tap rule for fishing jigs Tap 1 - The bass picks up the jig Tap 2 - The bass spits out the jig Tap 3 - I smack you on the back of the head for not setting the hook on the first tap ;D ;D
  6. Nice Fish! For years the Jitterbug was my favorite topwater, but this year I can't get 'em to hit it. Still, you gotta love that gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, SPLASH!
  7. 3/8 oz no-name homemade ones from my local baitshop (Black & Blue) Zoom super chunk trailer
  8. OK DRUMMER JOKES What do you call a drummer without a girlfreind? HOMELESS How do you get a drummer off your front porch? Pay him for the pizza. ;D ;D ;D
  9. That is the same thing I was wondering???? :-? I've been messing around with adobe photoshop. It's a fun program, but very addictive. I took a picture of a dude who was caught huffing spraypaint, then stuck his face on my body. Before After
  10. Stop reviewing these reels! The more I read, the more I want, and the last thing I need is one more reel. I'm going to plug my ears and sing "La la la la la...."
  11. Average seems to have a lot to do with the bait I'm throwing, but I'll give it a guess: If I'm fishing a senko I average about 12 inches. With a jig the average is probably closer to 15 inches.
  12. Nothing like a new PB! I've been searching for mine for years! WAYTOGO!!!!
  13. I agree with the other guys, go whenever you can. Right before a cold snap is usually good, right after is usually slow, but there are always exceptions and you'll never know unless you go.
  14. Excellent question! I've been wondering the same thing myself.
  15. Fish Who? :-? Kidding. Good to see you posting again, and GREAT fish! :)
  16. I think the Ribbits are the best, flappinest, pad hoppinest frogs going. Definitely my #1 choice. But if I'm looking for a frog to swim or drop to the bottom, it's tough to beat those ribbon tail legs of a Horny Toad.
  17. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! 8-)
  18. Thanks for the kind words about the family! It can be tough to get time to fish, but we work it in, along with everything else. The best thing we do is "Family Day". Sunday is family day. The kids don't make plans with their friends on Sunday because they know they have to spend the day with us. If it's nice out we'll go to a state park, the zoo, 6 Flags, or sometimes even fishing! When the weather stinks, we'll cook up some snacks and watch a movie. I never feel guilty about fishing on Saturdays, because I know I'll make it up to them on Sunday!
  19. It means I don't watch as much TV as I used to. ;D ;D ;D
  20. That's a nice fish. Sorry to hear about your lake. You city guys don't seem to have a lot of options as it is.
  21. Here's a thought...how about a soft plastic bait that's shaped like a shad. A bait that's designed to fall on it's side like a spoon, but it would wiggle on the fall like a senko. Bass are looking for dying shad this time of year.
  22. Hey Fletchero, I found something that will stop people from arguing about high-end equipment. Somebody just posted a topic about eating bass...we're moving the fight to a new location! This oughta be good. ;D ;D ;D
  23. Went fishing solo on Saturday and caught one bass nice enough to photograph. I struggled to get the camera to sit still on my tackle bag while I tried to work the timer and eventually just settled for a shot of the bass at arm's length and released her. The experience got me looking for a better way to mount a camera when fishing alone, so the next day I headed to Wal-Mart and found this thing. It's called a Bottle-Pod and it mounts over any water or soda bottle. It has a quick release, and has a pan and tilt mechanism. Best of all, it only cost $3.67...Sorry for the pic quality (camera phone) On Sunday I went hiking with the girls, and I brought the Bottle Pod for a test run. I really thought it would be tippy, but it worked perfectly. Later I experimented with putting it on a 32 ounce bottle of 2 cycle oil. That made a very stable base for using in the boat. Two thumbs up for the Bottle Pod.
