  1. I was stoked when I saw that combo for $69...But on closer inspection, while the rod appears to be a BPS extreme (zoom in on the picture and you can read it yourself) --- it's obviously not the 70 million modulus, Woo Daves extreme rod. It still may be an excellent rod for the money, but that's the most misleading ad I've ever seen from BPS.
  2. 12 volt TM? If so, I'm guessing your trolling motor has a 40amp in-line fuse close to the TM battery. If so, I would suggest buying a 40amp circuit breaker and replacing the fuse set up. BTW, that's a great rig! :)
  3. Unbelievable fish! Congratulations!!!
  4. A friend invited me to go fishing today. It was only 31 degrees when we hit the water, but the bass didn't seem to mind the cold. We fished for 10 hours and probably boated 40+ fish, the biggest went 3 pounds. This one went 2 pounds 14 ounces and fell for a watermelon w/red flake Senko at around 9am. It had a hook lodged in it's throat, but it didn't appear to be bothering her so we released her as we found her. Then at around 5pm, she struck again! Same stupid bass with the same hook in her throat, in the same location, falling for the same stupid bait (this time in red shad), as presented by the same stupid fisherman with the same stupid grin. Here's a couple more Illinois bass from Thursday. Yes, I realize they all look like the same fish! No hawgs, but a lot of fun.
  5. Congrats Andrew. There's nothing better than gaining confidence with a new rig. You wasted no time in taking up the challenge. Good luck at your honey hole!
  6. Some days you can catch a fish on a plain hook...other days you throw everything in your tackle box and come up empty. I always enjoy your stories, and I like that you're constantly trying something new.
  7. You got me hook, line and sinker. I kept thinking "HE THREW IT BACK!?!"
  8. This might be the funniest post I've ever read! We're not laughing at you, we're laughing wi...awe, who am I kidding. ;D ;D ;D
  9. fishinalldaylong, How you present a bluegill depends on the type of cats that are in your lake. Flatheads prefer live bait, either under a bobber or jug, or using a slip sinker. Big blue cats prefer cut bait, and though it sounds gross, use the head of the fish first. Dan
  10. fishinalldaylong, Are you sure that 15+ pound catfish was a bullhead? 'Cause if it was, you broke the world record by more than 7 pounds!! Just having fun with you. Any 15 pound catfish is a hawg!
  11. What a pig! Congratulations!!!! :)
  12. I've used window wieghts in a canoe. Long and narrow, easy to store.
  13. I'd guess around 22lbs 6oz.
  14. Great fish and great pictures! I get a big kick out of your posts. I hope your good fortune continues.
  15. Hey BD, Why not just post your questions (one at a time) here for everyone to check out. That way we can all learn from the responses. Just a thought, Dan
  16. On days when I'm not catching, I'll take some time and explore the lake a little more. I'll try to mark new structure that might hold fish on future trips. I don't worry too much about not catching, it only takes one (the right one) to make a great trip.
  17. Great stuff. That last video reminded me of Bridge to Terabithia.
  18. Great fish and great pics - as always! I would love to be a fly on your boat on a day like that.
  19. When I wanted to flip the head on my Motor Guide trolling motor, I called Motor Guide and they faxed me directions on how to do it. They were very helpful. I'm guessing MK would do the same for you. I use that trolling motor mount that you're looking at, and have for a couple of seasons. I bolted mine to the boat and it works ok, not great. It has a lot of flex, but it's not hurting the boat at all. I've seen other guys bolt a small piece of 2 x 6 to the bow, and that seems to work well, and is probably a more solid fix. Good luck, Dan
  20. Fletchero & ReelMech, Thank you very much for the help! Dan btw, here's the repaired tip...
  21. Nice fish! That glacier appears to have melted from the background.
  22. I was getting my gear together today and noticed that the ceramic insert on one of my rod tips is missing. I'd like to repair the tip, but I'm not exactly sure of how to go about it. In the past I've sawed off the top inch of a rod and then added a new tip. I really like this rod and would prefer to not to saw on it. Is there an idiot proof way to remove this tip? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dan
  23. I was looking in the Bass Pro book and they don't show a DD22 in the lavender shad. I think the official name of that color is pearl shad. Very light lavender on top, white sides. Killer good bait.
