Tried a senko for 1st time-sorta?
Was fishing the lower suwannee yesterday for about 2 hours with no luck. Then the usual suspect i was fishing got hung up and i had to break it off.Well while rooting around in my bag fora new hook and worm I came across a bag of green pumpkin tiki worms that had been there awhile.I had meant to try them before but forgot I had them.So I t-rigged it weightless and casted it up in some pads and caught a bass.I kept this up all down the bank and caught several more bass,a mudfish, and had about a 4 foot gar on but lost him.(thank God.)So now I guess I'll go by some senkos and tiki worms in a few different colors to try. Shoulda tried 'em sooner.

I know this has happened to you?
The other day I was fishing som lily pads and their edges.I was using a trick worm and I was fishing it through the cover slowly and kept this up till I was abot 10 or so feet away from the edge. Then I would reel it in quick and start all over.Well on one of these occasions I reached my predetermined reel-in point, lol, and just when I started to burn the worm in I got hammered and missed it.So my question is how far from the structure is far enough, lol?

worm fishing
What are some of y'all's favorite worm rigs and how do you fish them(retrieve speed, hopping it along the bottom, twitching it like a jerkbait, etc.)? I'm kinda new to worm fishing but am looking for new ideas.so far I mostly t-rig with various bullet weights pegged to the worm.It seems to come thru the cover on these florida lakes pretty good.Just asking for everybody's .02.Thanks.

What was your strangest catch?
I was nightfishing for catfish one time and on the first cast I got a bump and set the hook thought I had a snappin' turtle.Well I managed to drag in a size 12 work boot.I throwed it on the bank behind me and went back to fishin'.A couple hours and a few cat fish later my buddies were ready to call it quits.I whined and they agreed to stay with me for another final cast.About 10 minutes later i got another good bump and set the hook.I assured my buddies that this time it was definitely a snapper. It was the pther boot.We left for fear we might catch some part of the dead guy that was wearing them, lol.

Catching Live Bait
Avid, I catch shiners on a cane pole with a piece of white bread.you have to take several slices.Pinch off little pieces of bread, roll them into balls and toss a few in for chum. You may have to try a few locations till you see the shiners popping at the bread balls. I use a # 10 tru-turn hook with a small bobber abot a foot to 18" up.Just lift the rod slightly when you get bit.If you set the hook too hard you come back with just shiner lips.

Wal Mart update
I haven't heard of any wal=mart stopping the sale of fishin' stuff, but I have heard that any new wal-mart being built from here out won't sell firearms. Also the existing wal=marts will go to selling just rimfire and shotgun shells. My nearest wal-mart is revamping the fishin' section as well too.Lots of new lures plus rods and reels and combos. I never liked to buy a gun there anyhow.

How to remove a hook and tend to the injury.
Hey guys, Here's a little trick I learned from a doctor when i was younger. After he took a hook outta me this way I was able to get a few hooks out of myself and others on later occasions. If the hook is not too far past the barb you can take a needle and follow the shank of the hook up the barb(thru the same hole the hook made),next lift up on the skin with needle and gently back the hook out. It's really a lot less painful than it sounds.

Run in with bait shop owner AAARGH
Bait shop owners are all used-to-be fishermen. Now they spend all their free time counting nightcrawlers and meal worms.Plus they come home smellin' like fish and that ticks off the old lady and...well.......hence the root of the entire bait shop owner problem. So don't sweat it and sneak back tonight and pull the plugs outta his rentals(j.k)

Weeds?
One tip I haven't seen mentioned yet that works pretty decent in certain weeds is a swimming jig.You can jig it back to you quickly plus whenever you hit an opening in the grass you can let it sink and fish the opening like a normal jig.

Getting started
I don't know what part of the country you live in sousa24 but on lakes witha lot of rocks I've always had good luck on crawdad colored crankbaits. These are fairly easy to fish and you can vary your retrieves to see what the fish want.Plus the lipped models tend not to get hung up so easy so you won't have to wade out and get them as often.

What Do Bass See In Chartruse?
Since the issue has come up about what colors bass see and all,I have a good ? I think.Cajun red line advertises that red is harder for the fish to see because red is the first color water filters out,so why all the latest rage about red hooks if they can't see it anyway? As for the chartruese,it works for me and the bass seem to like it in the right conditions. Maybe with all this technology we'll be able to see thru the bass's eyes someday, lol.

You know you bass fish when...
You know you bass fish too much when you take your 3 year old to wal-mart and he'd rather get a spinnerbait than a toy. .........your fishing partner has to take a nap in the bottom of the boat. .....you use spiderwire as dental floss .......you kiss a bass more intimately than you,ve ever kissed your ol' lady. :-*
