  1. JDM softbaits are cool. cool, effective, and costs a boatload of dough.
  2. This is called peer pressure. You see others getting the uber high end stuff, and you feel left out. I dont feel peer pressure. I see others getting the uber high end stuff, I just say to myself "Im glad that last BPS rod that went 'bang' wasnt a Megabass"
  3. I am very picky about rod color, but dont give a d**n about reel color, as long as the reel is not a mirror finish like the shimano antares. god that reel is ugly....
  4. Rubberized cork grips by fenwick? love that stuff
  5. Your rods can also go jump off your hands if its wet with EVA.
  6. Cheaper, lighter and more durable than most cork. I personally prefer cork, because I hate EVA when its wet.
  7. Does the shape of a spoon matter when you want to use it in a yo-yo retrieve, as a flutter spoon? I have a 5/8oz Bluefox Strobe Tear Drop spoon, and was wondering if its good as a flutter spoon. Its got the generic "tear drop" shape that many casting spoons have, to produce those wide, wobble on a steady retrieve. I have no clue how a proper flutter spoon is suppose to behave on the drop. Should I invest in one of those long, thinner flutter spoons to get the proper action, or is my Bluefox fine?
  8. i tried to do this with jigs, but my topwaters always made it onto the line.
  9. to get less noise: - use 8 carrier braid - use braid with coating - use soft braid - dont use braid
  10. The 2 claims of grooving on TT are both from fluorocarbon, apparently.
  11. The claims of grooving are supposedly done with pure fluorocarbon lines, not mono or braid.
  12. So you say that fluorocarbon will definitely damage chrome guides?
  13. Sorry, I do mean its for the actual insert (the part where the line actually touches), in both reels/rods. There are some rods that im considering (fenwick eagle and basspro microlite) that has rings that are stainless steel with chrome. Some reels also has this as their line guide as opposed to titanium nitride. The rods look very appealing but the guides do worry me a bit.
  14. Is this the same thing as "hard plating"?
  15. All the cheaper Basspro rods are pretty decent, especially the BPS Graphite Series and Bionic Blade. Bionic has a weird grip that not everyone likes, but if you can tolerate it, its $20 off right now at 59.99. The Graphite Series is at $29.99. If you do light/ultralight fishing, the Micro Lite series may be worth looking at as well. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Micro-Lite-Graphite-Spinning-Rods/product/10204875/ http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Graphite-Series-Spinning-Rods/product/1204170505228/ http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Micro-Lite-Graphite-Pack-Spinning-Rods/product/10204877/ Shakespeare Ugly Stik Lite are also a very good option. Not as sensitive as the other rods, but it has very very good durability. http://www.basspro.com/Shakespeare-Ugly-Stik-Lite-Spinning-Rods/product/16669/ Fenwick Eagle is also another option. They just updated this line of rods this year, and they look pretty awesome. They are also offering free shipping anywhere within the US till June 2, which is tomorrow lol. http://www.fenwickfishing.com/Fenwick%C2%AE-Eagle%C2%AE/1317871,default,pd.html#start=4 All of these rods have full cork handle. Fenwick Eagle has the best handle, a combination is hard pressed cork and rubber-impregnated cork. The Bionic Blade and Ugly Stik Lite are carbon fiber(graphite) and fiberglass composite. All the other rods are pure carbon fiber.
  16. Yes i seen that table, but the numbers mean nothing to me. I know for a fact that Aluminum oxide can handle everyday bass/pike fishing, mono or braid, very well without grooving. So can any of the material below it. Can Chrome do the same?
  17. Anyone have experience on the durability of hard chrome plated guides? on rods/reels?
  18. Mono hold knots very well. Prob something to do with your knots. Have you tried uni knot? I always use uni and never slips
  19. This rod...............Its made by a company who got advice from Loomis, and is using his name. how does it compare to other similarly priced rods, say BPS Johnny Morris II, Fenwick Aetos, Shimano Compre?
  20. o wait, Bionic blades dont come in XF....
  21. O really? So I need a XF for a true F? Can you recommend me some? I need my rods to be 2 piece so i can fit them into a travel case. My budget is $150, max.
