  1. heavier the lure, and shorter the bite of the hook, easier it is to throw. This is especially true when the hook is not fixed to the lure body (ie, most hooks that are attached by a split ring) In my tackle box, this would point to my 5oz swimbait with 5/0 treble hooks. I hardly ever get a bass to throw a lure, because I keep a very tight line. Last year, only had 2 throws out of hundreds of catches. 1 on a frog, 1 on a jerkbait.
  2. Wacky and shakyhead are different things, as far as most of us here are concerned. shakyhead is rigged at the end of a plastic, with a jighead. wacky is rigged at the middle, with or without a jighead. As far as length, power and action goes, both of those rods will work. Aetos wont cast as far, but has much better sensitivity for bite detection. HMG casts further, but is sub-par in the sensitivity department, compared to Aetos. I would buy the Aetos, between the 2 you mentioned.
  3. I also just use a round jig head, 1/4oz in black.
  4. unless you are deep cranking, go with 7.4:1. You can burn a bait super fast, or slow it down for baits that you want to slowly crawl along. Its easier to slow down with a 7.4, than to speed up with a 6.2.
  5. It can mean whatever you want it to mean, since there are no standards within the fishing industry regulating the functionality and purpose of a "weedless lure". Most cases, it simply means less weed. Not "no weed", not "no snag", just "less weed".
  6. If there are no logs or very dense vegetation, I always fish a bladed swimjig (ie. chatterbait).
  7. used beetlespin for a while, was "meh". Not any better than other single colorado bladed spinners with a trailer. I fish snaggy places and a free swinging hook is a no-no for me.
  8. We are talking about the levelwind, not the reel as a whole lol. Zillion TWS > Tatula TWS.
  9. you just answered your own question. gj
  10. yes texas rig work when bass are active.
  11. I like the Zillion TWS more than the Tatula TWS
  12. I always use a trailer as well. I never use a trailer hook because I fish in and around cover, and i dont need an extra hook dangling off the bait.
  13. Too pricey for me since I like to throw mine in questionable places.I use daiwa db minnows for half the price.
  14. I fish whatever looks nice to me, because the fish here dont seem to care what color it is. Most of the time its either a red, white, black or transparent bottom.
  15. I use booyah quad shad, or make my own.
  16. you can throw any soft plastic onto a spinnerbait. paddletails, grubs, worms, craws, anything.
  17. isnt this the pickerel rig?
  18. Iv seen the exact opposite. Thats why I only use my megabass now.
  19. While I like most Xcalibur stuff, I see no reason to buy a zell pop over a Rebel pop r. They are the exact same bait with different paint job, except pop r is cheaper.
  20. megabass pop max
