  1. Depends on what I'm fishing, how active I've found the bass to be, what lure I'm using, time of year, etc etc... In some cases fan casting can mean the difference between an okay day and an amazing day, for certain types of cover and situations I think its a must.
  2. Try it on a drop shot too, it has worked for me well
  3. Maybe you can invest money in a kayak until you can get a boat?? I don't have one but I know a lot of people love fishing from kayaks...
  4. Yes its close ranged because its more of a vertical presentation
  5. Yes a punching setup would generally be a heavy bullet weight with a straight shank hook and your choice of soft plastic bait, using a weight heavy enough you can easily get through that mat and fish the open area below. You should definitely look into it, but if you don't have a boat and you cant get close to the cover it probably won't work out.
  6. Yeah! I saw that, crazy good fish that guy had. He caught em from the dock too which makes it even cooler!
  7. A good punching setup could work well, do you know how deep is it under the pads?
  8. I have one and it is awesome, it is a work of art...
  9. Both the baits posted in this thread look beast, I would fish the heck out of those here...
  10. Sounds like it'll be a blast for whoever goes!
  11. That's a nice one, good job!
  12. That's a nice bass, it was 75° in Florida where I fished today
  13. Man I wasn't ready for that deep lake, there was lots of spots in the 30-35ft range... Got my butt whooped but I didn't get skunked, caught my first two wipers! Man they were only 1-2lbs but they fight hard! I was using a xcalibur 2.5 squarebill and it had no problem pulling drag... Nice lake though, people were catching bream and specks like crazy all around us but I just couldn't catch many bass...
  14. Yeah I caught 2 today that were only 1-2lbs and man they can fight! Fun fish to catch.
  15. I mean I'm gonna be fishing for largemouth but it'd be fun to catch one of those
  16. Idk I think they are the same thing as hybrid stripers, so pretty big I guess. The lake has only been stocking them for two years so I wouldn't expect to catch any bigger than 5lbs+... Were heading out there now
  17. depends what I'm doing honestly but I've caught tons of bass on culprit ribbon tails
  18. Later today im going to a place in florida ive never fished called eagle lake, supposed to have bass called sunshine bass in it. Hopefully I dont get my butt whooped and I can hook some fish, havent fished a new body of water in awhile... Anyways I'll post how it goes!
  19. Going to a place ive never fished before in florida later today that has sunshine bass, dunno if those are wipers but they look similar. Hopefully I dont get skunked lol maybe if im lucky I can hook into some of those sunshine bass!
  20. I too prefer the Alberto/Modfied Albright
  21. Idk kinda what alonerakin said, if I send it back what if I just get another one back with the same problem... As long as it isn't structurally weakened and it won't effect performance I guess its fine. I would prefer it be perfect obviously but it isn't worth the Hassle I would guess...
  22. Got my St.Croix Mojo today and everything is fine except one guide is a little crooked... Would you make a big deal outta this and return it? Would it effect my fishing, I wouldn't think so but was looking for other opinions.
  23. You can do it with your hands but like gulfcaptain said split ring pliers don't break the bank and I'd pick a pair up. 2, 4, and 6 are common hook sizes, get on Google and loom your lure up and find a site that list the hook sizes.
