  1. Well, to all their own. But does anyone ever fish frogs in open water? Koppers in particular
  2. That's why I asked haha, it says it's bad today but I'm going anyway!
  3. What do you guys like to fish with?
  4. 2 in a day. Lol.
  5. Does anyone follow this? How accurate is it?
  6. Thanks again for the help man I really appreciate it!
  7. Cool man, thank you, I guess frogging is not the strong-suit for this setup lol. I'll still throw it around for a bit and see how I do. How much weight should I fish with a senko? or a super fluke? and should I tie the weight a few inches above the bait so it doesn't slide or should I just put the weight on the line so that it can slide freely?
  8. I have a Abu Garcia Black Max on a 6'10" MH X-fast action rod. What should I fish with this thing? I threw some mono backing and 50# braid on it, I plan to do some frogging. I'm not sure if that's what this set up is made for (lol) but if not, what type of baits should I fish on this setup?
  9. This is the reel I own and I love it. http://www.***.com/Abu_Garcia_Black_Max_Casting_Reel/descpage-BXMX.html
  10. I can't find anything that completely suits your needs but these are some nice reels I suggest taking a look at that aren't too far out of your budget. http://www.***.com/Wright__McGill_Skeet_Reese_Victory_Casting_Reel/descpage-WMSVC.html http://www.***.com/Shimano_Caius_200_Series_Casting_Reels/descpage-SCIS.html http://www.***.com/Pflueger_Echelon_Casting_Reels/descpage-PEIC.html
  11. Are you looking for a spinning or baitcast reel?
  12. Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm sure you'll see me around here quite often lol
  13. I should have check this post before I spooled it. I feel like fool. I hope all goes well tomorrow.
  14. When you say tightly, you mean to add a lot of pressure while spooling the braid? I just put 50# on my Black Max with a good amount of mono backing. I put decent pressure on the line while spooling but not a ridiculous amount.. Wouldn't too much pressure cause biting? Because the power pro I just put on is biting into itself quite a bit without a ton of pressure, but not enough to cause problems for me (I don't think). So whether I messed it up or not, I still have enough braid to spool the reel again.. But either way I'll probably start off with my brake all the way up just to get a feel for everything and then work my way down to a comfortable spot like we all did while learning how to use a baitcaster.
  15. What # braid should I put on this reel? Should I fill some of it with mono first? And then tie the braid to the mono and continue spooling? I've only put braid on this reel once and it was 50# braid I believe, and I filled the spool up with just the braid and had tons of problems while casting. I want to do some top water fishing.
  16. Ok nice, I'll pick some up on friday. But, if I decide to use some mono backing, is 10lb enough? And what know should I use to hold the two together?
  17. Enough to cast with I think, does it make a difference how much is on the spool?
  18. I don't have enough braid to fill my Black Max reel, but I want to do some frog fishing I just don't have money to buy a spool of braid right now. Can I tie a braid leader onto some 10lb mono that's already on my reel and be able to set the hook? Sorry if this is the wrong section, didn't know where to put this :?
  19. Cool guys. Thank you for the answers. I'll definitely give them a try today!
  20. Has anyone ever used these? Let alone caught fish on them? I bought about 50 off of a seller on eBay a while back. I haven't used them because I don't want to waste my time. They look promising, but they don't feel very dense. I've casted them a couple of times just to see what they weighed compared to a Yamamoto Senko, and they felt pretty light though they're the same 5" size.
  21. My rod that's being repaired is a St. Croix. I love that rod, my personal favorite, (not that I've fished with a ton of rods). Someone stepped on one of the d**n guides somehow somewhere
  22. Thank you to all for the help. i'm going to try buying new hooks. I usually fish with a #5 Offset Shank EWG, just because I like the bit of extra control. I'll go down to a #3 straight shank or a #3 offset wg, which is what most people like to fish with right? And I'll stop reusing my hooks all the time. How many times does everyone else use their hooks for? I usually use mine for as long as possible, until I loose it in a tree or some underwater structure.
  23. I usually fish with a 7' MH action rod (baitcast), I had to send it in for repairs, so I've been fishing with a 6'6" M action rod (spinning), have missed 7 fish in the past 2 days on senkos. I've very rarely missed a fish on a senko before making the switch to this other rod that I usually use for snapper blue fishing. Does this rod not have enough backbone? Is it the # line I'm using? I usually use 12-20lb fluorocarbon, but have been using 10lb mono on this one because of the real I have on it. Is it me? I personally don't think so, I'm usually right on with my hooksets when it comes to soft plastic fishing, or could it be the rod? What should I do? I don't get my other rod back for a couple of weeks and I love to fish soft plastics more than anything else. If I were to go pick up a rod tomorrow, what's a good baitcasting rod that I can get from Dick's Sporting Goods?
  24. Ok. Thank you to all for the reassurance I really appreciate it!
  25. Are baits like these good for this time of year?
