  1. Wrong. Grizz Green for life. He knows what he's doing...
  2. 25 lb. P-Line CXX is my go-to line for a-rigs.
  3. Thanks for posting this, I can't wait to throw that 8" lizard on a carolina rig this summer!
  4. What you are saying about deep divers does not make sense. Deep divers have a lot of resistance so the more bend in your rod, the easier it is to retrieve them. A firmer rod makes it so much tougher to fish those baits because of the resistance of the crankbait. What I am trying to say is you don't have to work as hard with a glass rod as you do with a non crankin rod for deep divers.
  5. I throw mine on a 7'6" heavy and use 1/4 oz swimbait heads. I like 25 lb. P-Line CXX. People like to use braid so if they get hung they can bend the hooks, but I've bent hooks with P-Line CXX plenty of times. Plus, if you do get snagged, get over the top of the a-rig and just lightly pull up and let it fall repeatedly it usually will come loose. It uses the momentum and weight of the a-rig to push the hook out of the snag.
  6. I throw those on two separate setups. Carolina rig I use 16 lb. Sunline Sniper fluorocarbon as my main line, then usually Sufix Siege monofilament in 17 lb. on the other side of my swivel so that the bait will float up more. With an Alabama rig I use 25 lb. P-Line CXX copolymer. You don't need your reel to hold a whole lot of line like you stated in your original post. Any 200 size reel will work. It's hard to spool a 200 size reel on a cast.
  7. Can't wait to see the responses to this....
  8. Can I have your job?
  9. Yep, love em! Paca Chunk Sr. in Magic Craw is my favorite by far!
  10. I like to stick with the Heddon Spook, tried and true. I have not tried the Yamamoto spook, but the Strike King Sexy Dawg is great as well. The only other pencil style bait I use regularly other than the Heddon Spook is a Lucky Craft Gunfish.
  11. Agreed, who wouldn't buy them?
  12. Big fan of Power Team Lures Swingin Hammer, got best results out of it on the back of a chatter bait. I really like it on a chatter bait when I take the skirt off...
  13. I like 14 lb. Sunline Sniper as an all around line. Has the line diameter of 12 lb. fluoro in most other brands and has great strength and abrasion resistance.
  14. Are you saying Greg Hackney exclusively uses braid? Because that is false.
  15. Right now, as you know, the grass is sparse, no mats etc. So IMO there is no need for braid. The only time I use braid is if I am froggin or punchin mats. A lot of people in Florida probably use braid year round because I am sure there are a lot of people who don't fish tournaments and they don't care which line they are using. I would (and do) use fluoro if at all possible over braid. I know, I know, people say fish seeing braid isn't a factor. Im not on that train nor will I ever be. You are on to something by noticing that all the top 10 pros were using fluoro, cause fish are a lot more finicky than most people think and visibility does matter.
  16. I'm a big fan of Sunline SX1, only braid I use unless I'm froggin or punchin, then I use Sunline FX2. Sunline makes the best line all the way across the board IMO, but everyone has their own.
  17. Yep French Pearl has been my best producer on the TN River chains Tim! Pearl blue is number two, I buy mine off of Tackle Warehouse.
  18. Immortal is the new version of the RX8 blank, not RX7 just so everyone knows. Great looking rod!
  19. I used it for deep crankin and the abrasion resistance around rocks was not very good imo. Now I use the 10 lb. for jerkbaits and will probably never use any other line. Perfect for throwing jerkbaits! A lot of people like Sunline Defier Armilo for jerkbaits as well so you might want to check it out too if you prefer mono for jerkbaits. It's a great line as well and I use it for my squarebills and topwater. If you prefer fluoro for your jerkbaits tho then Sunline Reaction should be your choice!
  20. Y'all did notice that fish hardly had the back treble in its mouth right? He was very close to missing that fish. I prefer glass rods and the fish really inhale it. I haven't lost a fish on a dd crank since switching to glass almost a year ago. EDIT: And when I say glass I mean a custom made rod on an e-glass blank, not the crappy s-glass that's used for the Skeet Reese rods and other production rods.
  21. I have never used that rod but when I am ripping traps thru grass I prefer a MH/F with a lighter tip. I have a custom 7'6" MH/F built on a Rainshadow Revelation blank and it is absolutely perfect for ripping traps thru grass. I had a tournament this weekend on Guntersville and used it paired with a Metanium XG for this exact application and it performed flawlessly. Handle a 6+, 5+, and multiple 4's with ease. The more moderate tip just doesn't work well for me when ripping thru grass. You can get a rod built on this blank for less than the price of the Dobyns. Plus it's a custom, you can never go wrong that way. I also use this same rod for 3/4 oz jigs on ledges. As a matter of fact, I am about to have two more built on the exact same blank because it is so versatile. PM me if you are interested and I can hook you up!
  22. You can't go wrong with either. If you have the money to fork out for a Metanium I would get it but the Ci4+ will do just as good of a job. I like the XG model in the Met cause of the IPT, but other than that I would just get the Ci4+. I don't find enough difference in the HG model of both to warrant the extra cost of the Metanium, but if you want the IPT of the XG Met then for sure get it!
  23. I haven't thrown the Zillion but I love the Chronarch Ci4+. I had some Tatulas and liked them a lot as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these reels, but once I got my first Chronarch Ci4+ I liked it so much that I felt I didn't need to try a Zillion or other Daiwas. I also have a Metanium and IMHO if it weren't for the XG model I would buy the Chronarch over the Metanium any day. I do love my Met but I like the Chronarch just as much.
  24. How do you feel the JDM Chronarch Ci4 compares to the USDM? Did you notice any major differences between the two? I have 3 USDM models and love them and was thinking about picking up a JDM model at that price...
  25. It's a great site and you can trust it. A lot of other people on here have ordered from them as well.
