What # Test Braid For Cranking?
I'm thinking of switching my shallow-mid crankbait combo from 16 lb mono to braid, mainly because I would like to not have to change line so often, right now I go through about 10 spools of mono a year on that combo. Braid would be nice I've heard you only need to change it 1-2 times a year. The strength and sensitivity is also a bonus. So my question is, what pound test would you recommend? Also which braid? I'm a big sunline fan, so I was thinking sx1, but is there a better value out there? Trying to keep it under $20...

I Need Help Picking A Baitcasting Reel For $200 Or Under
X2. Exactly. Curado I, tatula, tp are all great reels can't go wrong with either of them. Tatula gets my vote though for features @ best price. $100 @ amazon you just can't beat that.

What Constitues A Confidence Lure
X2. Dropshot with roboworm is definitely a confidence lure. Gitzit tubes are also one of my go-to lures.

Lake Lopez Ca Reports?
Has anybody been to this lake lately? Haven't been there in a few weeks wondering what it's like now it was pretty slow when I was there. I'll be going on a camping trip next weekend it would be nice to know if the fishing's good. Thanks.

Swimbait Knot
Where do you get 25 lb defier? I can't find it on tackle warehouse. Defier is a little out of my price range for mono but I'd like to try it.

Suggest A Good Inexpensive Round Baitcaster
X2. If you're willing to spend that much it's probably the way to go. Then again it's the only round reel I've had under $120 so idk. Just seems like a nice reel for the $.

Which Lews?
Get the tournament ss. I don't have one, but the rebate is tough to beat and 35 out of 35 positive reviews on TW (yes I counted them) sounds great! I do have an lfs tho its a great reel for the money but if u can get the tournament for $20 more w/ rebate its worth it. Just my .02.

New Lures You Tried In 2014 That Did Not Work?
Same here. Got 2 scatter raps never caught a thing on em. Also got a few bx jointed minnows, nothing on those either. Sticking with shad raps and dts.

^^Nice fish! November is a s-l-o-w month here in central ca. 1-2 fish is the average for a couple hrs.

Favriot Jig
If I only could pick one jig, it would be a 1/2 ounce black&blue or pb&j football. I fish fairly deep reservoirs with lots of rocks, stumps, etc. If I fished a more weedy lake or pond, a flipping or pitching jig would be my first choice.

Soft Plastics As Topwaters
I've used berkley havoc pit bosses as buzzbaits with success. And of course flukes and horny toads. I'm sure rage craws would work too.

Dobyn's Champion Swimbait Vs. Dobyn's Mike Long Swimbait
I'm seriously considering an 867 mainly for the mattlures dead twitch and baits of similar size and smaller (6+ ounces). How does the 867 handle those baits? Is it comfortable to fish a dead twitch all day? Also what size reel do you use? Thanks.

Fishing Rod Or Pole
I just realized that's what I do too. Interesting.

Do You Really Need Braid For Frogs?
I don't see why it wouldn't work, especially with reaction baits like cranks. Just remember to use a softer rod and beefier hooks! I might try 50 lb braid for my squarebill/topwater combo...

Do You Really Need Braid For Frogs?
You guys should check out Matt Allen's video on braid, he uses it for everything, including cranks. Just adds a leader as needed for jigs, worms etc. I 'm thinking about switching to that system myself, it would be nice to only have to switch your line out once or twice a year!

Do You Really Need Braid For Frogs?
I've used 16 lb mono before with toads and lighter frogs. Didn't experience any break-offs fishing in fairly heavy cover. Then again, the biggest fish I caught that day was only 3 lbs... I wouldn't recommend fluoro because it sinks, but u could definitely get away with 20+ lb mono IMO. Just use a stout rod because of the stretch. I used a 6 ft 6 in extra hvy rated 3/8-2 oz lures.

Best Fluorocarbon Line
If you're wondering about brand, sunline is the best followed by seaguar IMO. I haven't used shooter or tatsu, but fc sniper is a great line, probably the best @ the $20 price point.

Fishing Rod Or Pole
I use both interchangeably. I probably say fishing rod the most though..
