  1. Haha I know I didn't read his full post before answering!
  2. What gear ratio do u guys like for swim jigs? I know 6.4:1 is reccomended and I've been using a 6.4:1 speed spool but sometimes I wish I had a little bit faster reel to take up slack and catch up w/ the fish when they head straight at me. I also use the combo a lot for soft jerkbaits and weightless Texas rigs. Would a n 8.1:1 tatula type r work for this or would I b better off using a 7.3:1 standard tatula?
  3. Abu Garcia veritas and revo s and perch shad rap
  4. I use 16 lb sunline super natural. Will b switching to 20 lb flouro soon
  5. What's you're favorite fluke-style bait? I love the Yamamoto d-shads. Recently they've become my go-to lure( after the weightless senko) . Bubblegum is my favorite color works in almost any color water, but I've had the most success in clear water over grass. Broke off a huge bass on one I'm guessing it was 6-7 lbs:D. Amazing lure just wondering what you're favorite is the top shelf schooling minnow looks similar or do u guys like the old zoom fluke?
  6. That's awesome! I'm more excited about LC dropping the price of their cranks and spinnerbaits than anything at icast! Get some Black Friday for $8 same price as the strike kings and rapalas I buy!!!
  7. D-shad or senko can't remember. GYB rocks!
  8. Owner mosquito
  9. Frogs r my FAVORITE summertime bait. Snag proof makes the best at the best price in my opinion. Frogzilla will get u a lot of big bites and less dinks. Really fun frog to throw. Just make sure u have the right gear 7-7 ft 3 hvy-mag hvy rod and 60-80 lb braid is necessary.
  10. Using braid helps a little, it actually cuts thru the grass u end up getting less weeds on your jig.
  11. Strike king 2.5 on a budget ,otherwise lucky craft skt mr
  12. Normally I would say go w/ 60 lb sunline fx2. Amazing braid diameter of 40-50 lb test of other brands. Covers all my frogging/ pitching needs.
  13. I used 16 lb super natural in some pretty heavy cover once caught lots of 2-3 lbers never broke any off. Just make SURE to retie your line at least after every bass. Or u could lose a nice one. I recently lost a 6 lber on a fluke on 12 lb test fishing in light cover my line was a little frayed was to lazy to retie and I lost him. Ill never forgive myself:)
  14. JGBassin is right that's why I love it. Also it's the cheapest sunline at $7.00 for 330 yds. Same price as trilene. Sunline way better though. I have 16 lb that's te same diameter as 12 lb trilene. Only problem is its not the most abrasion resesitant line that's why i want to use 30 lb. ill be fishing weedless Huddleston 68s in grass and big lunker punkers. About the heaviest swimbait ill through on this combo is 6 oz. rago skeet pro swimmers and rof 16 hudds
  15. Thanks I just checked out TWs description of the 734 sounds like a very versatile rod. Do u prefer the split grip or full handle? I know it's just opinion but I don't really have a preference. Any thoughts?
  16. I don't know. They just catch fish year round for me in almost any type of cover: wood open water sparse grass, etc. My brother caught his PB on a strike king 2.5. 6-6.5 lbs. in open water. If a squarebill hunts on the retrieve it works well in open water otherwise u need some form of cover that u can bang it against rocks stumps etc. Strike kings have a great hunting action. I definitely recommend them and they're very affordable which is a plus u tend to lose a lot fishing around stumps!
  17. Senko. Close second dirty jigs finesse football jig
  18. They catch BIG fish! Especially in Cali
  19. The hooks on the 8 inch r very sharp #2 Gammys but for some reason the hooks aren't as sharp on the 6 inch. Not sticky sharp like the 8 inch either
  20. Use stock hooks w/ the 8 in but swap out the hooks on the 6 in w/ owners.
  21. Also 5 in lunker punkers r a good way to start. U can find the g2s for around $15-16
  22. For hardbaits though definitely spro bbz1 6 or 8 in. Very nice swimbait for the price
  23. U guys better not forget the Huddleston! Definitely one of the most realistic trout imitators out there.
  24. I like the tight wobble in late winter and early spring. One of my best bass fishing days last year in February was on a #6 perch shad rap. Haven't had much success on them any other time of year.
  25. Thanks for all the info guys. I decided on the dobyns champ. That definitely seems to b a very popular rod! Can't wait to try it w/ daiwa type r
