  1. I found a 6600cb at a yard sale.. Its 6.1-1... Are these reels meant for striper and cat fishing?? Or are they bass reels?.. I was thinking of using it for a striper set up but im unsure what kind of rod to pair it with.
  2. Yes!!! They work us 6 days a week and all d**n day and night... I called off today actually!!! Im going fishing at 5pm-8.
  3. Trick worm.... 2nd best fish was on a frog early this spring. The trick worm has been killin it lately. Rigged texas with a 1/4 oz. They are not taking it off the bottom.. I bring rod tip high and let it fall. If they dont eat it on the cast that is.
  4. Ya i plan on my kid being ablento fish by 3 or so.. Lol and he better like it!!
  5. This week I went to my usual spot on the delta 2 times.. Caught a healthy bass on a motor oil trick worm.. Came back 2 days later and nothing would touch it.. Threw a green pumpkin with red flake and no hits..... Took out my chartreuse pen and coloured the tail... Bam bam bam bam!!! 4 fish in a row... So I think its necessary to try different baits or colors in my situation to keep them interested
  6. I have been fishing with the gammy wacky hooks for a bit.. Apparently not how they were intended. Seem to work fine... Haven't caught anything huge on them bit the rig has been catching fish... In the weeds.
  7. You are correct... Gamakatsu recommends using the tube for dropshotting larger baits.. Interesting, because I have been using them for regular wacky rigging with an O ring on the senko for some time now.. Lol
  8. Wait... You're supposed to put the line in the tube?...
  9. Roboworms are pretty awesome..
  10. Idk... Sometimes bass have small leeches in their mouth
  11. I have margarita mutilator, green pumpkin&purple. They get a lot of bites thats for sure. You can dropshot all of them but the smaller ones might be better. Only problem I have is that the bluegills attack the hell out of them as well.
  12. I am pretty much in the same boat.. I'm not very good with a jig. Sometimes there is no mistaking the bite. Then theres the "aww crap I'm snagged on a rock" and it turns out to be a fish... I just try to stay focused... Also a shaky head might be a good way to get the hang of jig fishing. Its alot lighter , so you can feel the bites... not as good for dragging amd feeling the bottom.
  13. Thats what I use during midday.. the bitsy bug with craw papi. Or a shaky head with a roboworm. The smaller jig heads are easier to fish in the water im on. The veggies are so big right now that the football jigs just get hung up too easy.
  14. I use the small strike king buzzbaits, small and med size poppers(bass pro and gary yamamato). I for some reason love a flexible rod when it comes to these baits. The poppers especially are great with my med ugly stick. When I try them on my M/H casting gear, I have to be very gentle. With the spinning set up I can really pop it and the action looks great. Apparently the fish seem to feel the same way lol...
  15. I caught 6 fish last night between 5-8pm in the stockton delta... topwater was on fire due to the heavy cloud cover... had a ton of hits on buzzbaits and poppers
  16. How do you get your fish verified if its a record fish?... you call fish and game to come weigh it?
  17. I got the silver max as my first reel... it was great actually but the magnetic brake malfunctioned and I ended up returning it and upgrading to the bass pro 79.99 model... that one also gave me some issues with the brakes.. I returned that one and upgraded again to the 99.99$ bass pro " pro qualifier" I couldnt be happier with this reel. I can cast even light baits pretty hard and it wont give be a bird nest. The casting range is so much better. Someone once told me.... save up till you have at least 100.00 to spend on your reel.. I think I should of taken that advice... But with that being said. I was happy with the silver max if it hadnt failed on me. Good luck
  18. One thing i did not mention... get rid of the tackle box for a backpack.. Invest in a descent backpack with a few front zipper pockets.. If you buy one of the kvd speed bags.. it comes with 3 plano boxes. I remove them and put all my soft plastics in the bag.. I use one box for hooks, weights amd swivels etc.. one for hard baits... one for jigs and misc stuff. Having a backpack is better than using a hand carrying A tackle box in my opinion. You can instead carry 1-2 rods and a beer.... Good luck
  19. I fish from shore.. I will list the baits I use and in order of how successful they have been 1. Zoom super fluke. Has landed me more fish than anything else this year. Rigged with a 2/0 offset worm hook.. weightless most of the time.. in heavu current I will use a belly weighted hook... One of the most versatile baits out there I believe. 2. Lunker hunt topwater frog. Only #2 because it landed me the biggest bass of the year at 6lb. 3. Bass pro shops "sassy sally" paddletail swimbaits. I use the white one mostly but also the black with silver flake.. bass love these things. Largemouth, smallmouth and even croppies will eat them. 4. Jig and craw trailer... Sometimes all they want is a jig..... you gotta learn them. 5. Senko Motor oil with red flake has been pretty good lately..... wacky rigged seems to work best. I use the Rubber bands to hold the hook on "O rings" with gamakatsu !wack hooks.. 6. Small strike king buzzbait The small white one right as the sun is going down has been slaying them lately..... Last few nights I have been having a blast with this thing.... Good luck dude.. And good luck findinv that swimsuit..... although I dont know how that will help
  20. The thing about the Delta is the amount of water you have acess to... hundreds of sloughs and bays and ponds you will be able to explore
  21. Gonna.make you sick but... the.biggest bass I caught this year was on a lunker hunt frog.. the ;only rod I had a the time was my ugly stick med action...so I just set the hook really hard when he hit it.... I like fishing a frog on a more flexible rod.... but you really have to drive it home to get those big hooks to penetrate. When you use a stiff rod it seems to kill the action and you need to drag it instead of popping it.... If thay makes sense
  22. California delta.... March would be a great time.. not quite spawning season, but the weather will be warming a bit.. there are too many marinas here to even mention.. I live here so i dont rent boats or rooms. But do some research and I'm sure you will find something.
  23. Well at least you know what they are biting already... maybe go get you a shiny new crank bait... see what happens
  24. Paradise tackle?.. that's not at paradise point is it?
