  1. I just pull string out of my sock and use that to hold it on the hook
  2. I have no idea what the fish are doing where you live.. thats something you will have to figure out.. However, I can tell you how I found the bass today in my area.. I fish the Delta of Northern California in Stockton... So this mornin I got to the water around 8am.. I saw no signs of life in the water at all, which is weird because normally I will see alot of bluegill and shad frolicking about.... So I threw some texas rigged craws and worms into the deeper stuff.. cpl nibbles but nothing big.. Threw some spinner baits and crank baits... nada.. ok maybe they are hiding under the weed beds... so I hooked the same kvd finesse worm i tried earlier without a weight in a 2/0 hook around the weedbeds.. pull rod tip to 12:00 let it fall.. Pull.. let it fall... BAM!! Right on the edge of the weedbed 2lb black bass.. Got a few more hits on the worm but by then the bluegills and shad started to show around 11:00 around the bridge pylons.. So I start throwing my usual.. a white swimbait.. usually a fluke but i tried a bassdpro sassy sally... just a soft paddletail white swimbait... caught 4 fish.. 3 bass and 1 crappie... So I just figure... if im not seeing the fish.. they are either deep or hiding in the cover.. today they were in the cover.. other days I will find them with a texas rig in the deep channel.... Hope thats not too confusing... but that's what I did today.
  3. I will keep at it... thanks guys
  4. And as far as calamaties go... I have had many.. I didnt realize that setting the hook hard would send my jig flying out of the water....
  5. It happens with all the lures.. I adjust every time i tie on a new bait... I have tried the wrist roll cast and I get no distance at all... I also tried pitching and i seriously cast about 5 feet.. lol
  6. Guys, I just got a baitcasting combo. Abu silvermax 2 and a 7' tourney special med/hvy .. Im doing ok with the sidearm cast. However, when I try overhead casting theres a problem. It either goes 50ft into the air.. or if I try to release later to compensate, its like a dart straight into the water.. Alot if the spots im casting from, there is no room to swing that 7 foot rod around.... So I need to get the overhead thing working..... pls help ;(
  7. The Walmart's near fishing towns will always have more selection in the 1$ bin.. I always stop at the one in the foothills... last time I was there I got YUM craw papis and finesse worms for 1$ each
  8. Funny thing about that is.... Since I started fishing.. The 29.99 shakespear on an ugly stick from wallmart. Fishing a bobber and a worm (night crawler)... has caught me more fish than anything else.. Including a 5lb largemouth... which until last month was my largest bass...... so go figure Now that I "know what I'm doing".. I have more confidence fishing a fluke on a med spinning reel setup than anything else.. Just got a baitcaster as an early Fathers Day gift and I'm practicing
  9. Hold in those farts too
  10. Looks like a good day to me sir.
  11. I have been a member for a couple weeks now, so i suppose its time to say hello. I did alot of fishing growing up and in Highschool, but lost touch with it somehow. I recently got back into it and have been completely obsessed. I learned about this site from watching bassresource's youtube videos which have helped me alot....I went out and got a bag of flukes that caught me 4 bass in one morning!! Thanks bassresource!! Anyhow.. Im off to work...2 more days till I can go fishing :'(
  12. I'm also from Northern Cali.. Welcome.
  13. There's sharks in the ocean man!! Lol... welcome As far as places to fish... You are in Northern Cali , theres got to be good fishing near you somewhere... If not come on down to the Delta Near Antioch or Stockton .. I fish the Stockton area, and do pretty well. PM me if you want more detail info...
  14. I always lose jigs in rocks.... i like using flukes with weighted hooks or weightless depending on the current.. you can also use nail weights in soft plastics because a carolina or texas rig might just get snagged as well.. i just use finishing nails and slide them into the worms head.... good luck
  15. Started fishing the Stockton Delta around 6am with a frog.. Something slapped the frog so I backed it up with a fluke.. I caught 4 bass on the fluke. My fishing buddy caught a couple on a jerkbait. However I would say the fluke is a good bet right now. I used white flukes with a weighted hook and black with silver sparkles weightless with a 3/0 hook. I also used a zoom chartreuse marker on the baits..
  16. I have the same problem with the river in my town... you gotta put in alot of hours per fish... but I did land a big bass a cpl weeks ago on a topwater frog..... Sometimes I drive 45mins to the CA delta area amd the fishing is much better there... good luck
  17. The guys at bass pro shop were saying that the RoboWorm Margarita Mutilator (purple top and brown bottom) was extremely popular bait in the delta..I dont fish that far towards the bay. I fish mostly by Stockton... everything near 8mile road.. alot of the areas I fish are farm irrigation but they cam hold monster bass Good luck
  18. I have caught bass on black craws texas rigged..... I would use natural colors or black/purple.. is the water clear there? You fishing the shallow channels or biger water?
  19. I fish the stockton delta... poppers... craw trailer jigs.... topwater frogs and flukes are worth trying
  20. For me id say deer creek in heber utah.. haven't fished the other places mentioned here. I have caught tons of smallies there and the biggest bass I have ever landed was a 6lb largemouth. Good luck
