  1. I have always fished deer creek from the shore.... have caught a ton of smallies and the occasional largemouth. One of the biggest I ever caught was on the back side of that lake off the railroad tracks.. when you are drivng up to the lake you take the very first road that leads to the water. There is a spot you can park and walk along the railroad tracks... this was over 10 years ago of course.. on that back side there are alot of rocks and a steep drop off.. however I would walk over a mile to a very large boulder that is on the shore and fish off of that... And I mean very big.. its the size of a house and darker than the surrounding rock... when the water is high enough the smalliez will hang out on the face of that rock. And for the 7lb largemouth it was near that rock as well.... bobber and a worm with about a 3-4 foot leader..... If the water is too low.. the rock will not be submerged and it kills that spot.. then I would just find some riprap And fish it with cranks or worms.
  2. The problem I have been running into here is that all the BASS or other clubs have out of date contact info or they just dont reply to their emails... Can anyone tell me about bass clubs in the Delta or Modesto/sierra foothills?... Thanks. Frog.
  3. Thats like 40 minutes from my house... I'd rather fish the delta tho.
  4. Dude.... I have been itching everywhere since this ordeal.... my nerves are shot lol... but I havent seen any more today and the room got cleaned amd vaccumed.. so i feel a little better
  5. Well.... unless they are hiding on the taint.... everything is shaved and i cant see anything... but i will have her look lol... and the dog has front line
  6. So.... I went down to check out this river the other day to see if it was worth fishing.. had my boots and jeans on.. I had to trek through some brush to get down to the water.... the place sucked and i will not likely return... So when I got home and started changing my clothes.. I notice a tick on my shirt... i killed it with my lighter.. took my clothes off in the bathroom and found one more and flushed it... I searched my clothes , room and my car... found no more... however the next morning i found another!! Crawling in my chest...killed it and kinda freaking out now... I have yet to tell my girlfriend at this point because I know she will freak out.... So then this morning I find another one on my stomach... So now I'm officially tripping out.. I cant find the little scoundrels.... how many could I have had on me?... how can I get ridnof these parasites that I brought into my home?... should I just get a fogger and bomb the room or what?... anyone ever have an experience like this.... Pls help
  7. Ya.. im just wondering if the shape of the jighead will matter.. I just cant afford to keep losing the jigs... I'm fishing from shore... the rip rap goes out about 10 feet and there is a big drop off... But maybe a squarbill craw imitation crank could work.... but it seems like they are really going for the jigs... even senkos dont get as much action here. I think because when the tide is coming in, the current effects the falling action..... Thanks guys for the input
  8. So... The shallow channels I usually fish have slowed down.. while fishing for stripers in the deep channels I have stumbled upon some large black bass around the rip raps... some have hit a shad crankbait but the larger fish have hit a black jig/craw.. problems is.. this stuff im fishing is simply, broken up concrete slabs used to reinforce the levee.. after hooking said beefy bass.. i lost a cpl of my jigs in this stuff..... should I just buy a bunch of cheap jigs and toss em out?.. or is there a better way?.... to avoid the snags that is Frog
  9. Try a different color combination.... the crawdads change colors in diff time of year... the water I fish is a bit murky right now. The black craws have been working well. But I think the crawdads are dark green right now... Im sure there has got to be an article on craw colors here somewhere....
  10. Well, here's an update.. Still yet to land a fish on a senko officially.. Fished the delta yesterday. I hooked into one bass that I got all the way to shore and he got off the hook as I was trying to grab his lips.. flopped around in the grass and back in the water lol... Although None of the other anglers there caught anything.. We moved to the striper spot.. alot of large rocks on the bank.. I tossed in a black with red flake 5".. A large bass from what I could tell ,came out from a rock... grabbed my senko and went back under the rock.. I set the hook but I was maybe snagged on the rock..... So I managed to get back only my hook and the "O" ring.... omg The hunt continues.
  11. I have actually decided to ONLY fish senkos until they start working for me.. I did this with flukes and it has made me a descent fluker..... So I got 4 colors and sizes... even the swimmin senko....
  12. This is gonna freak everyone out, but..... A SENKO!!
  13. How do you fish the c-rigged hogs guys?... just drag it or poppin it?
  14. Idk about getting a baitcaster as a newbie... Personally i would stick to a spinning setup till you got a bit more experience.... I fished a med shakespear setup for the longest time (35.00 reel and an ugly stick ,med action) caught alot of fish on it before upgrading to baitcasting gear.
  15. I like fishing bridges.... baitfish like the pylons... If that bridge is accessible..... fish it
  16. I loosed the knob lol.... ya its only 2 weeks old... Man thats irritating.. Just waiting for them to reply to my email
  17. So..... The magnetic brake got a little stuck and then unstuck fairly easily.. however, now the brake is so tight that the spool barely moves.. Even on the low setting it will only cast 20feet. Its an abu Garcia silvermax 2... Anyone know an easy fix or do I need to send it back?..... Thanks
  18. Ya I dont see Zoom superfluke on your list..... yet this is a post about flukes.. I love those things.. they just work... And if they aint working you just fish it in a different way.. yet thats the awesome part about it.... very versatile... Its a senko.. its a jerkbait... its a topwater and a Carolina rig... lol I do swim it weightless alot, however I also use a belly weighted hook as well. I may add a few colors to my arsenal but I only own pearl and smoky shad at the moment.
  19. The fluke is very versatile... As you can see by reading all the replies... rigged weightless it has an awesome wiggle on the fall.. slow retrieve , and when you see that dark shadow approaching your bait, let it fall... sometimes this will trigger the strike.. Other times the retrieve alone will cause an agressive fish to come and get it.... If fish are chasing, but not hitting it. I like to switch to a small paddletail swimbait like the sassy sally's... maybe a smaller fluke like some have said.... Oh and I also have tried rigging them upside down.. it gives a different action that can work.. Funny story.. I say to my friend, " Im going to rig this backwards and see how it swims".. as soon as those words left my mouth I was reeling in a fish that came out from under a weedmat to get it..... Good luck man... Also maybe try a hook with a belly weight for deeper presentation
  20. I hooked a small striper right through his eye a cpl weeks ago..... He wiggled kinda wierd when I pulled that barb through...... I felt bad for him... he swam away but who knows if he made it... Maybe he will seek revenge some day.......
  21. Idk but , I just got my first baitcasting setup I matched it with a 7' med hvy rod... i was fishing with a jig craw trailer... thought I had a bite, so I set the hook.. the jig flew out of the water from 30 feet out and ended up in the tree I was standing next to..... And that was with 15lb floroclear.... so im assuming braid would be even more intense... A sweeping hookset is probably q good idea
  22. When I was just a kid, about 30 years ago. I lived in the middle of nowhere southern California desert. I use to see those planes flying overhead every day. Of course I had no idea they were not in service at the time. Its amazing that they are still used today.
  23. Grub, topwater frog and a nightcrawler on a bobber....lol
