  1. I'm not that far from Westover air force base. Anytime I fish the chicopee river the c5 galaxy cargo planes go right over head. The helicopters are constant, I mean all day everyday, but that doesn't bother me a bit. The f16s aren't bad either just the cargo planes.
  2. My favorite way to fish is good old live bait. But if I only have my lures I prefer top water.
  3. I would rather catch many small guys then 1 or 2 big guys. Keeps me paying attention instead of zoning out waiting for my bait to get hit.
  4. I planned on kayaking through some wide canals in the New Hampshire coast, in the marsh land. Any ideas for stuff to troll at that slow of a speed.
  5. Have not caught much of anything in the small ponds. We had a long cold winter, I bet the fishing will be a little less great this year
  6. Haven't been in a while, gotta go this year. Nice fish by the way. I've been spending my time around the scantic river and hamilton resevoir. Anybody else fish those spots?
  7. Ever tried some random insect. Once tried a couple of beetles flying around, an ant. Caught some little panfish. I here crickets and maggots are good through the ice.
  8. I'm talking about big shad, American shad. Shad here after they reach adulthood grow to a average of about 3 pounds. Defitnetly bigger than a average shiner, sizes up to 8 pounds aren't that rare. Ma state record is 11pounds 4oz.
  9. Shad are a form of herring, I live 20 minutes from the Connecticut river. We see the largest migration arguably in the U.S. Everyone I have ever consulted has recommended shad darts. Herring is a whole family of fish. The mist common being silver herring, what me and you see for cut bait sometimes.
  10. Shad darts are like slightly modified bucktail jigs, yes they are meant to catch shad.
  11. I have some left over ones, probably 1/4oz, any ideas?
  12. Wait till the late evening/dusk on a hot day. Then throw out a popper and walk the dog.
  13. small hula popper or a orange black flat fish.
  14. They got me with the helicopter lures, they suck. Got me with a couple of different swim baits, not bad. Got my dad with odd big ole circular things I don't even now what they are.
  15. Oh my God! What have you been buying. Unless you need new top quality $200 rods or reels stick to this place called walmart or dicks. Cabelas has a great selection but is expensive, if all else fails. Forget the lures, use home grown live bait.
  16. Oh us, every fish loves them. Try different retreavel speeds for different fish
  17. My grandpa lost a couple fingers that way. Just last year I had a fishing buddy nearly cut his finger off. It was hanging on by a thread. He was trying to put a new hole in his belt with a knife and slipped. He ain't the sharpest tool in the shed but he shure can fish
  18. Sometimes I just get so darn restless. It's starting to affect me. Any suggestions, I don't do prescription pills.
  19. Thank you Clayton86. To answer your question, I did a little research craw fish are apparently only able to crawl over jeep grand Cherokee made after November of 2002. To answer the second question I would agree with the your first response.
  20. You went a little to technical there, but like anything the best way to figure this out is trial and error. However if I were you, I would buy lighter line for one of the reels " if it can hold 14 go with 8 pound test". Pair this with your lightest action rod, this will be your fresh water set up good for panfish, perch , and depending on where you live bass, trout, pike. Where I live bass don't really grow that large I don't know where you live, check my location. Take your other reel throw it on a medium heavy rod. This will be for river and brackish water fishing. As far as your lures you can use all the ones you mentioned on either reel. BUT DO NOT CAST YOUR JIGS WITH THE LIGHT LINE . It will snap easily. Beware using your inline spinners and other light tackle with your heavy setup. It will cast poorly but it will still work. I apologize if I have said anything that insults you because some of this is beginner stuff. I don't know your experience so I gave you the basics.
  21. "Hello, is there anybody out there ?" Pink Floyd
  22. I was fishing next to the bridge going in to plum island ma. I noticed a guy using spinner baits and other fresh water lures. Then I noticed that my heddon spook Jr popper looked perfect for largemouth even though it's for the salt.

  24. I really don't know how to go at it. What rod reel line hooks lures bait?
