Search Baits?
whatever you have tied on that youre using to cover water in search of fish. Once you think youre on them, you may stop searching and tie on a slower, more focused bait, such as a jig.

Are Ultra Realistic Crankbait Finishes Unneeded?
I feel like its safe to say that almost any bait we buy will usually appeal more to us than it does to the fish.

Lures And Seasons
haha very true. We all are were of the universal truth that what's supposed to work, won't always work, and what shouldn't work will in fact work every once in a while. I feel like the chart is a good baseline though.

1St Bass Of 2015 - What Bait?
First bass of the season was a pb 8.5 pounder for me. Caught it on a six inch storm thunder stick jerk bait, about 20 feet from shore in cold water on an extremely windy day. For a second I thought I had snagged the pumping station I was pulling my jerk bait past.

Bass Fishing Meditation
thanks for all the replies guys. Don\'t get me wrong, anytime im spending time in nature and out near the water doing my thing is relaxing for me, thats why I do it. I just find that when I go down to the pond with just my spinner and worms my level of relaxation moves closer to a feeling of serenity, as in "wow, this is just too good to be true." Im still relaxed when Im at the reservoir throwing a big swimbait out, I just feel like theres a little bit more to think about.

Bass Fishing Meditation
Haven't posted on the forums in a while, not much to talk about during the winter in Connecticut, however I feel the need to share my experiences this evening. got out of work at at 5 and instead of loading my truck and heading down to one of the larger reservoirs with all of my rods and big tackle bag, in search of a ten pound fish via swimbaits, jerkbaits, and other more advanced techniques, I decided for a simpler evening. I left all my my rods and tackle at home except for my 7ft medium spinning rod, some 1/8 and 1/16 ounce shakey head jigs and a bag of my favorite worms, and headed down to the pond behind my neighbors property. It may sound weird but I can't tell you how relaxing and nostalgic it is to spend the evening at a small pond with nothing but green pumpkin worms. ended up pulling four 2-3 pound fish out in just over an hour. I may just be a really weird dude but it was pretty refreshing.

Big Bite Baits Sugar Cane Worm?
Just looking for anyone who has used these worms to give me a little feedback on them. Tackle websites reviews aren't too helpful and couldn't find anything on here or on youtube about them.

Swimbaits: Floating Vs Slow Sink
for funs sake lets say I could only pick one.

Swimbaits: Floating Vs Slow Sink
Whats your opinion? Im leaning more towards floating. I have no idea why it just seems naturally more appealing. plus I can keep it out of the weeds better. For the actually baits Im between a mattlures and a savage gear line through trout.

Probably The Last Good One Of The Season
its really skinny thoguh. One of the skinner bass Ive caught this year.

Probably The Last Good One Of The Season
decided to head to the pond in my neighbors back yard for like 15 minutes before a friend picked me up today. The only rod that I had available today was my 6'6 medium spinner. I was just killing some time fishing a weightless purple tube (a bait i dont fish very often). I was about to leave and while retrieving my tube quickly to make a final cast I got short struck about 5 feet from shore. gave it a second because I thought it was a turtle at first, and set the hook. After pulling the fish out of the bushes by hand near the shore, it was actually a nice one for my area and the time of year. however I have a feeling it will be one of the last nice ones for the year.

What's The Most $$$ Lure You've Lost On A Bass
im still waiting for someone to say they lost a mattlures or something. I lost a hook and a solid body frog to a snapping turtle today, missed the frog and got my line.

Topwater Frog Setup - Opinion?
there are two pretty cheap rods that I have used and liked a lot actually. You can pick up and ugly stik gx2 for 40 bucks, or a berkley lightning rod for 50. as for reels, im not that picky. many people suggest the lews speed spool. theres a model you can pick up for 80. I suggest any gear ratio in the ball park of 7:1

Shimano Tekota 500. Swimbait Reel?
Ive recently uncovered my brothers old shimano tekota from the garage, back when we used to fish salt water a lot. A lot of people online say they use it as a freshwater swimbait reel. What do you guys think?

Topwater Frog Setup - Opinion?
the fast action tip is important, however having a rod with a backbone is also important. I promise if you get yourself a 7ft med-heavy rod, even if its a spinning rod opposed to a baitcaster, you will see a huge difference in the amount of hook sets your making.

Topwater Frog Setup - Opinion?
The reason you're not landing any fish is one, or a combination of, two reasons. first, you're using a medium action rod. It just doesn't have enough back bone to drive those thick frog hooks. second , i can almost guarantee you're setting the hook to quickly. I fish frogs more than any other category of tackle I have, and you really need to train yourself to let the fish hit, and actually feel him on the line, or see your line moving, then you set the hook. I would recommend switching to at least a medium heavy rod, and preferably a baitcaster with 60lb-80lb braid. I would also practice your hookset timing. next time a fish blows up on your frog, count to two, out loud, reel down and then set your hook. hope this helped

Two Terrible Outings Today
its supposed to hit 80 up here on sunday. Hopefully that will be a more productive day for me. And as for what you said about fall being the least productive of the four seasons; Idk how you fish but I don't catch any fish when my lakes are frozen over haha

Two Terrible Outings Today
I thought that today would be the day that I hung up the gear for the season, however we are having a couple day warm front sometime this weekend or into next weeks, but after that, I think im done until march. Its tough to catch fish in the fall up north, and its even harder as a shore fisherman. If you add the fact that I blow at fishing, it turns into a pretty bleak situation (some of these emotion icons are really funny btw)

Two Terrible Outings Today
woke up early before school to do a bit of pond fishing. Used a new buzz frog (damiki air frog) and didnt have a single bite. No sure what I expected considering it was in the low 40's when I went out. Then i went to a reservoir that I had never been to this evening and fished some downed trees. After loosing my storm kicking slab, as well as a couple soft plastic rigs to the tree, I managed to catch one dink on a jig (first jig fish actually). Then I lost my jig and decided to call it a day. I dont think Connecticut is the best sate for fall fishing.
