  1. sounds perfect. I have a duckett ghost, a medium moderate cranking rod thats absolutely perfect for shallow squarebills, Dt 4's, as well as small poppers.
  2. For everyone that has replied, thank you and god bless you, I really appreciate your replies. I have a meeting with my current Dean tomorrow concerning my withdrawal, and will ask for his take on it as well. As far as my decision to continue into the spring or return in the fall, it will be highly dependent on how well I am able to construct a class load for the spring that will be manageable and useful in my education, as well as my families opinion on the matter.
  3. Ive never even fished a senko, or any other stick baits.
  4. This is going to sound really weird to most people, but I know that I can get bit on a popper or a walking bait almost every day between april- october. I have caught more fish on a super spook ans super spook junior than I have with any other lure this season.
  5. Did extremely well in high school, and decided that I thought it would be worth it to take on some sizeable loans to go to a private school in my state that does well in my area of study. I discovered halfway through my first semester that I do not feel that the school is worth it for the loans im taking on. Ive decided that Im going to transfer to a state university thats actually in my home town, western Connecticut State University if anyone is familiar. This choice has been further solidified by the fact that my grandfather, whom I lived with, passed away in an accident over this past weekend. That leaves my mother and my grandmother solely responsible for my grandfathers house and land, and with my brother and I both away at school, it has become clear that one of us needs to come home. With that being said, I am unsure if I want to start this spring, or work this spring and start again in the fall. Benefits of starting in the spring: I can start playing lacrosse this year, and not have to wait until next year. All of my financial aid and loans would carry over to the spring. Benefits of starting next fall: I can take on full time hours at work, and come fall of next year I will probably be able to pay my tuition for the year without any loans. can still apply for loans I will feel like im turning a fresh page Disadvantages of starting in the spring: Quick change= quick, sometimes difficult adjustment Probably will not get the class schedule and selection that im looking for because of the fact that im registering late Disadvantages of starting in the fall: I will receive my bachelors a semester late employers may be suspicious as to why I have a semester gap in my education. If anyone with more experience or wisdom can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated .
  6. as a guy who fishes mostly swimbaits, the only way I see this rod working out for you is if you fish your keitechs on underspins with the lightest gauge hook you can find, and still expect to miss hooksets. Thats an extremely soft rod to be using with this style of fishing.
  7. The megastrike heads have been the only shakey heads Ive used that have stood up at least 75% of the time.
  8. that depends. do you feel like your cranking rod has enough back bone, and do you feel that you have good control and castability with it? If yes, I would stick with that. if no, I would throw it on your swimbait rod, although a stout rod like that isn't really optimal for a bait like the shell cracker.
  9. What do you mean by 4-5 inch swimbaits? soft plastic, soft body, hard body? I have 4 inch reins soft plastic swimbaits that go on a darter head on my spinning rod, and I have 4 inch bbz1 shad swimbaits that weigh an ounce.
  10. That was my point exactly.
  11. Considering that all convicts of second degree murder are eligible for parole, Im guessing this guy will be out in 11-14 years max. Johnson could have lived another 40 years. Thats what brown should be doing, minimum. prayers go out to the family.
  12. Not in any way trying to knock small mom and pop shops, but some of the stuff I hear in those local places is pretty outlandish. Had a guy in a local shop a year ago claim that keitech was coming out with a ten inch swing impact fat. Take what you hear with a grain of salt.
  13. I thought it was weird too, but apparently it's the only model dicks felt like putting on sale.
  14. Very disappointed to hear about California fish & games lack of motivation to do their job. Hopefully they will be rewarded the world record regardless.
  15. So my girlfriend was looking through some cyber monday deals online and from Dicks she ordered me one of those Writt&Mcgill skeet reese rods because they were only 30 bucks. The only thing is, they were only available in 6'3 mhf, which is what she ordered. It was very sweet of her, and don't get me wrong, those skeet reese rods are defiantly worth picking up for 30 bucks, I just don't really know what im going to do with it. Im not used to using rods below 7-7'3. I was thinking finesse jigs? If you have any ideas as to what I should use this rod for, let me know.
  16. bass pro makes some beautiful fiberglass reproduction mounts
  17. looks like a good day for topwater eh?
  18. a lot of these bigger swimbaits do really well when they are being dead sticked. With the segmented bodies of these baits the movement of the water gives them a really subtle and enticing action. Ive had several fish hit my bbz floating trout when I had my rod in one hand and my phone in the either reading a text.
  19. I need some new huds, and im wondering if its worth it to go weedless. i have a lot of trouble with getting my top hooked models caught up in rocks and wood. At least with the weedless I could throw it where I want without worrying too much about snags.
  20. taking a survey. For those of you that fish them (specifically the 6 inch) do you prefer the standard top hook (or butch brown rig) or do you prefer the weedless versions?
  21. Fall time to me is underspin (fish head spin for some of you) time. I prefer the Road Runner Caseys classic heads, and pair them with a 3.8 inch to a 4.3 inch keitech. slow roll it on the bottom or swim and pop it past cover and you'll get bit.
  22. C0lt replied to dam0007's topic in Fishing Tackle
honestly you could Throw a keitech out there wiThout a hook and you would probably catch fish
  23. It really hurt, but i had to put the order in; 6 inch Huddleston deluxe in perch, rof 5 8 inch Huddleston deluxe trout, rof 5 I also picked up the wire and sleeves for the butch brown rig. The swimbait bug has really hit me hard recently. ill post pics on thursday.
  24. I've recently started fishing both 6 and 8 inch line through trouts with good results, however I've had some hookup issues with the 8 inch. Every video I see that savage puts out fishing their line thrus, it's always top rigged with a trailer hook that has some sort of post that grabs into the back of the bait to keep it stationary and low profile. I haven't been able to find any terminal tackle like this. Does any one know where it can be found, or what the best way to go about making them would be? Here's a link to one of the videos where the trailer can be seen:
