  1. There are additional instructions when dealing with multiple hooks. First, cut off all other hooks. Good reason to carry a good pair of wire cutters in the boat or backpack. The reason for this is so that you do not engage the other hooks as you attempt to disengage the offending hook. Secondly, downward pressure to disengage the barb is crucial to success. Lastly, the final yank needs to be administered by a second person. You cannot adequately do this on yourself. Sorry it was unsuccessful for you! Must have been VERY painful.
  2. Ah, so there are some old guys on here! Do the names Lance Alworth and Speedy Duncan ring a bell with anyone? And then there was John Hadl, the quaterback who had the announcers saying "he throws, he looks!" In case anyone is confused I'm talking Chargers of the glory days. I'm a Dallas fan by birth and a Charger fan by transplantation.
  3. Any body remember when the Cowboys were Invinceable? Yeah, I'm old. Tom Landry and Roger Staubach! Texas stadium had a hole in the roof so God could watch.
  4. In my experience all flouro on spinning reels is trouble. If you fill the reel to the proper level, the line will continue to peel off even with the bail closed. Frustration sent me screaming to braid! Remember to lighten up on your hookset. Broke one off again Saturday night!
  5. Instead fo a drill bit, I chuck up a pencil and shim the spool with toothpics.
  6. Guys, if you have a buddy with you, you have to learn this method. From personal experience, it works!!! No pain, right back to fishing!
  7. The law of averages would say that the bigger your PB, then the harder it will be to break. Yes, if your PB is 4-5 pounds you may have a day when you break that barrier twice. Teen fish, not so likely!
  8. There is the truth. I have often felt sorry when I have caught a skinny bass. Here he thought he finally had an easy meal and he gets a hook in the jaw.
  9. Some people use it for topwater, when a little stretch is desirable.
  10. My only suggestion is that you might set it up with 12-15 lb mono for crankbaits. The give in the mono is advantageous when using baits with small treble hooks. Fluoro is just messy to cast and if the water you fish is not clear and you do not need it for added depth, I would not bother.
  11. Yeah, Yozuri is crazy tough! I was simply answering the question posed by the thread title. No toothy criters here, just Quaggas.
  12. Actually, that's grammar. Seems all he is asking is what puts up to sharp objects better. The answer is FC.
  13. The only thing I notice about plastics that I find is that they are swelled to many times their original size.
  14. Probably in November! Way too hot out there! My daughter lives in Chandler. I can't figure why anyone would live there!
  15. I used to be a uni/uni guy but had trouble with the braid cutting the mono/FC. Alberto/mod-albright, no problem. As DarrenM said, I have had the mono pull through on a test. I test using a steady pull of several seconds while watching the tag line.
  16. I thought I had this whipped, but it came back. I have a Soron SX10 spinning reel that I really like. I should say "liked". It has developed a slight drag at one spot on the handle revolution. Very annoying! As I said I thought I had it fixed but, turns out, it is only "fixed" when the anti-reverse is disabled. So it is likely related to the anti-reverse, but I have no idea how to remedy the situation. I know better than to oil that part of the reel. Been there. Any help? Thanks ahead!
  17. I notice that the neither the questioner nor those in reply have voiced the obvious. Smart!
  18. For that kind of money I could get 4-5 set ups off of ebay.
  19. LOL, too funny!
  20. I got nothing, just thought this was worth reading again!
  21. The bad news is I have caught half the fish I caught last year and less than half the size. The lakes around here are way down. All the structure I used to fish is high and dry. Good news is I live in San Diego, so fishing is far from over! Caught my PB last year in December!
  22. What's a boating license??? In CA you just have to be 12 years old to drive a boat, with an adult, of course. This is really amazing considering this state is constantly "protecting" us through legislation.
  23. I did not know that Rat-L-Traps came in floaters. Need to check that out! As to C-Rig, I tried it for the first time this year and got hung up a lot. I guess it is not the best for rocks.
  24. I only use it when I want to catch fish. It shines when you let the weight stay stationary and shake the slack. Sometimes I will pull it along until it hits something, and then I shake it. When I say shake I mean just twitching the tip of the rod ever so slightly, with periods of deadstick.
