Same here - I have the Spiderwire backpack and so does my son (he picked his independent of me). For the monte they have a lot of room and are well laid out. Our local Dicks Sporting Goods had them in stock so it was nice to be able to look at it in person before purchasing one. Cabelas and Bass Pro both have bags under there store brand if you are nearby Good luck in your quest.....

I never had any issues on Pontoons - now in super heavy cover (like where there are ton of trees sticking up) it can be harder to get between them just due to the width but you can always skirt the outside and throw into the area. The nice thing is you can have an on board bathroom/changing room (pop up from the rear seat area - great for Kids) and I love the idea of the grill mounted off the rail - nice to have a hotdog or something while you are tooling around. Many of the newer ones come with a trolling motor and fish finders preinstalled (also live wells and rod racks) Good luck on your search

Would they like a pontoon? With the right setup they can easily pull a tube or skier and it gives them lounging room. A few fishing seats out on the front wouldn't even make a dent in the overall space. Just throwing it out there..... We are looking to get one in the future as it is a good "family" boat that still allows for a good fishing platform.

Slugs do drop a LOT quicker - they are large heavy projectiles so the drop quicker and ricochet far less.

Yep, they sure will. One of the reasons for using fragmenting bullets varmint hunting is to reduce the chance of skipping a round. It becomes far more likely because you are shooting at LONG range at a target maybe a foot off the ground, (mostly prone or sitting) so you have a very slight angle. There are even some tactical situations where skipping a bullet is implimented (certainly not preferred of course). Also worth remembering is that bullets will easily skip off water, basically the same as a rock so if there is water in the background it is even more likly.

I been kicking around buying a new rod and reel and needed some advice. I always have been Bass fishing and never really messed around doing much else so I have a very limited knowledge of other types of fishing. Recently I got to do a little bit of Catfish fishing and got out on the river fhere in WV for the first time (always fished lakes and streams in the past). Well I had a great time and really enjoyed it so I was thinking I might expand my tackle collection so I can do this a bit more. The other thing is I get to Georgia from time to time and could play around some fishing off the docks in the salt water. So this leads me to my question – what is a decent rod and reel to do those things for maybe 100 bucks (if that is possible – maybe I’m being way too cheap?) Our current tackle is all Shimano stuff for the most part (Ok my daughters is not Shimano as I could not find a pink and black rod and reel combo made by them – seems a 13 year old girl is a bit more concerned about the colors than anything, oh well she likes it and it seems to work pretty well) Anyway, this does not have to be Shimano as I know there are a lot of good brands so any ideas will help. I have mainly spinning gear as I find I seem to favor it but I do have a small bait caster I use for Bass so I guess I am open to all suggestions. Anyway I really know nothing about this and am looking for any information or suggest you all may have. Thanks in advance.

As mentioned it does depend on a LOT of different things. The real "goal" is to achieve full penetration to the vitals, and not have the bullet exit the animal. You really want to have the bullet transfer all of its energy to the target creating a large wound cavity. If the bullet does exit it really is wasted energy at that point and creates other issues (unintended impacts)

For many years if I missed a fish I would just try again with whatever caused the first miss (mostly never worked) - can you explain why you follow up with plastics as several have mentioned? What makes this work. (I am trying to learn and understand more about fishing so I ask this as a student and don't mean it in a disagreeing way) Thanks
