Z Man has a fluke-type bait scented with ProCure. I like the Berkley Havoc Ike's Devil Spear rigged horizontally on a jig spinner.

I caught my two biggest bass on a Zebco 33. I fish from the bank and a spincaster is just better suited for dealing with underbrush and tree branches. I had high hopes for that Extreme Spincast reel but it looks like there are QC issues.

Those look like unweighted Z man Trigger hooks. I think they're discontinued, but you can still find them on eBay.

Yep, true in the southeastern part of the state as well.

A 22 lb black drum, lots of redfish, blue cats, channel cats, longnose and alligator gar...all on beetle spins. Also caught a few ladyfish on buzzbaits.

I always used them plain as well. What I use far more often are their larger jig spinners and I swap out the grub for a Mann's Sting Ray or Ike's Devil Spear. Rig them horizontally and you get a nice action.

Creme Lures sells a walking bait that's @ 2¾" long. I haven't used one, so I can't say how well it works.
