Nate, it's still sitting on the shop bench. I haven't decided what to paint it yet. My guess it will be a forage pattern we have around here, but not sure what just yet. Thanks for asking.
  4. Nice. I like the splatterbacks as well. They would do some damage on the smallies out here.
  5. Now that is some "out of the box" thinking.

Here's the "Punker type" I made and painted the trout pattern.

I just got rid of a '92 after I put 280,000 miles on it. 4X4, 5 speed manual, 4.0 L six. I barely got 16 mpg and sometimes less. The transmission started giving me fits. The first time I had the trans repaired it was $3500. The 2nd and 4 gear synchros were going out and it jambed up in third coming home while commuting from work. The next Sunday I stopped in at a local dealer near me and picked up another Ranger, '06 automatic, 3.0 L six with 55,000 miles on it and it has been heaven. Don't have to shift and has plenty of power and gets 22 to 25 mpg.

Thanks for the kind words; IB-The material is something that Whittler told me about. I picked it up at Home Depot. It's brick molding door trim. MD- It's about 7 inches long with a ballast of 7/8ths of an ounce. The line tie is stainless steel eyes like the hinges and the hook eyes are home made stainless steel wire twisted around a 8d finish nail. I don't have a clue as what to paint it just yet but I do like trout baits. I have a picture of a "Punker" type bait I made and painted with a trout pattern and I'll post that tomorrow.

I've been fooling around with PVC for a little while and its based on the Gladidator bait but this is hinged. The hinges are 1 1/4" ss eyes with 3/32" ss bearing stock for the pins.

    Awesome John. Beautiful.
  12. Impressive!
  13. It looks great. Do you mind me asking; what did you use to make the tail?
  14. Outstanding series for the Giants fans. Timmy couldn't have pitched any better unless Bochy would have left him in to pitch the 9th., but the way Wilson had been pitching the writing was on the wall. I can't wait until spring training........

I heard some of that stuff has some pretty large cells and isn't good for lures. Any brand you suggest or doesn't it really have a brand? I know AZEK is big, but I haven't really heard of any others. The PVC I picked up from H.D. is dense, meaning there are no voids at all. Minimal air bubbles, almost non existent, but very messy. There is a layer of micro fine white dust on just about everything in my shop. Hope you're wearing some sort of mask to avoid inhaling that stuff! Could lead to some lung problems later in life if you're not careful. 10-4 Nibbles, a particle mask. Similar to the ones you use when doing demolition.
  16. Bumgarner pitched a gem last night. A 3 hit shut out gem. To sum it all up the Giants have scored 26 runs and the Rangers have 26 hits. Lee is still an outstanding pitcher and could win tonight, but if the Giants play the way they did the first game; it's over. Go Giants!!
  17. Most people didn't. Other than local media the Giants got virtually no attention because they do not really have any super stars on their team. Other than Lincecum or maybe Posey no one else was really a household name before the playoffs. You never know where they are going to get you. The media has not been on the side of the Giants. The ESPN guys have continued to dis the Giants, saying they have no chance...still. I really can't believe these guys are saying this. They way they have gone through the Padres, Braves, Phillies, all teams with outstanding pitching but the gutsy guys in black and orange still prevail against the nay sayers. No team (until the other night) had scored 20 runs in two World Series games, none. Go Giants.

  19. Cain pitches a masterful game. 4 hit shut out in the World Series. That feat hasn't been done since 1962, an awesome game. The Rangers pitchers could not find the plate and ended up walking in two runs. Then all H&LL broke loose and the rest is history. In two game, the Giants have scored 20 runs......more to come this Saturday from Arlington. Oh by the way, Nolan Ryan is very angry.
  20. Rangers got it handed to them tonight. Cliff Lee out in the 5th. 11-7 Giants win.
  21. The bluegill is dead on. Awesome!!
  22. Awesome. Looks like a match to me.

Nicely done. The finish is great!!
  24. Give painting another try. Not everyone here was really good at it when they first started, well maybe Big M and Dwain were, but give the painting thing another shot, you never know....
