Bank Fishing In Georgia
There is a fishing area (sort of an island) at Red Top mountain on Lake Allatoona. You can get there by taking I75 to the Red Top mountain exit.

Cork Or Eva Foam Grips
I like cork. I like the smooth solid feel in my hand. It also looks better to me and I think it gets beter with age/use.

Whats Your Favorite Casting Rod Around $100
Can I get suggestions for your favorite casting rod around $100 Will be paired with a Curado I and needs to be a jack of all trades rod. I was looking at the BPS Bionic Blade XPS, Falcon Bucco and St. Croix Bass Trigger but is there something better around $100? I would prefer cork handle, but can forego that if the rod is much better quality in this price range. If spending a little more gets me a much better rod please let me know what you suggest.

Lews Vs Shimano Baitcasters
Thank you for the replies. I went to the store and put a few different reels in my hand and played around. I couldn't tell much of a difference in the operation of each reel. I played with Quantum, Abu, Shimano, Diawa and Lews. The Diawa might have been a little smoother than the rest but hard to tell and if so not by much. In the end the big difference I found was the ergonomics of the Shimano was superior compared to the others. The Curado fit my hand perfect. Couple that with a lower price and my faith in Shimano's quality I think I found my first baitcaster

Trials And Errors With A Baitcaster Pt. 1: Why Get A Baitcast Combo?
Well written, and thank you for taking the time to write it for a noob like me wanting to know the differences and looking into buying my first baitcaster (and if it was worth the investment)

Lews Vs Shimano Baitcasters
Hi guys Im looking at buying my first caster and I have my eye on these two reels: -Lews Team Lite Speed Spool -Shimano Curado I Can you offer details that set each apart from the other. The Lews is lighter but does it sacrifice durablity or performance to get it? All my spinning gear is Shimano and I trust them, but since Im jumping into casting I wanted to get some opinions on alternatives before blindly buying more Shimano gear.

Braid Recommendations
I've tried many including Power Pro. While Power Pro wasn't that bad compared to some others I still got more wind knots and pull/kinks on the reel. I felt Power Pro was better than some but not the best. I like Suffix. It has been on my Shimano Symetre the last three spoolings without problem. I love braid in general as well. I get as many bites as my buddies when were out fishing...sets are effortless and getting unhung I have a high chance of getting my lure back. I use the 8lb stuff...it casts a country mile and reels in the big ones 8-)

G Loomis GLX
Covering something like that is more than I could ever ask for. If I ran over a rod I would have to buy a new one, since that's just pure negligence in my opinion. Although I've never owned a rod costing over $120 so I don't have as much in a replacement if it does happen.

How much motor and 2 or 4 stroke?
25Lbs is not that much for those looking for the benefits a 4 stroke offers. If my main concern was for reliability 4 stroke is what I would get. Basing my experience on dirt bikes I know 2 strokes are awesome motors but they just don't have the longevity potential a 4 stroke has. As with anything its give and take, and what is more important to you.

Who fishes Allatoona in GA?
I'm still relatively new to this area and looking for some good spots to fish Allatoona from the shore (don't have a boat) I have fished Kellogg Creek bridge area and that Red Top Mountain fishing island. I have had good luck the past 4 times Ive been to Allatoona catching something each time. I'm headed out tomorrow and would like to try someplace new. If any boaters want a fishing partner I wouldn't turn ya away

How much motor and 2 or 4 stroke?
If a 4 stroke is rated for the same HP as a 2 it should be equal no problem. Also I thought I read an equivalent 4 stroke was actually 2lbs lighter than the 2 stroke.

building a jon boat from the ground up -- what brand/model do you choose?
Chris, will you be taking this boat to Allatoona and/or Lanier? If so let me know what you come up with because I will be looking to do something similar a year from now after I get out of school. I thought about the cost involved with building myself and with the cost of raw material and not having a mig or tig and no training with welding aluminum I have concluded that a rig already built like Xpress or G3 might be a more economical and better way to go about it if you can find a used rig at a fair price. If your not set on aluminum and can wait a bit until fall or so you could find a deal on a nice glass rig if you look long and hard enough (especially if your willing to travel to get it) You have a leg up on me...I don't have any boat and stuff fishing the shore BTW which tech are you at? I'm at Polytech

When Deer Fly
I had a similar incident with a Honda Accord a few years back. The way the front end rolls to a point and is semi low clipped the deers legs from under him, his body rolled/hit my hood and the curvature of the hood sent him about 20 ft in the air flipping around. All I could do is look up and say "holy crap" That deer looked like it was going to launch to the moon. Luckily it still had some motion of running across the street and he landed in the ditch right next to my car instead of on top of me. What happened to you sucks, and I would be really upset (especially at the stupid driver who didn't stop after your warning) however 175lbs dropping from 20ft is a LOT of kinetic energy...consider it a blessing he didn't land on YOU. Looks like the man upstairs is watching out for ya. Take care.
