  1. i just spooled up some 20# suffix 832 and my first impression is that it is a lot smoother than power pro. Haven't field tested it yet. I also haven't tried a lot of braided lines so I don't have much to compare it to.
  2. I have a somewhat specific question, but hopefully I could get some insight from those much more knowledgeable and experienced that I. Here's the situation: I have 2 baitcasting rods and 2 baitcasting reels Combo 1 6'6" MH 2pc fast action 6.3:1 currently spooled with 17# mono (stren) Combo 2 6'6" MH 1pc xfast action 7.0:1 currently spooled with 15# copolymer (p-line fluoroclear) As of right now, I have been using combo 1 for jigs and combo 2 for worms. I feel like I could get more versatility out of these with different line and focus each on a different application. I already have a spinning outfit which I use for cranking and spinnerbaits, but wouldn't be opposed to using one of these for spinnerbaits as well. Basically, I would like to ask that if you had only these 2 baitcast setups, what would you do to get the most versatility out of each? If I forgot any details that will help with any advice, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.
  3. Gander Mountain has 6'6" vortex rods on sale for $15 right now. I bought one and found a Skeet Reese victory reel on sale for $50. Used it yesterday and I'm really liking that setup, especially for only $65 instead of $160! Check out that rod and maybe keep your eyes open for a bargain reel!
  4. Good Morning! I would like to take a quick minute to introduce myself to what appears to be a wonderful and active forum! My name is Nick and I am a relatively new angler from Southeast Michigan. While I have been occasionally fishing with family members ever since I was a little kid with a Mickey Mouse spincaster, I have only recently begun to really catch the fishing (especially bass fishing) bug! Since late April, I have been hitting the water at least 1-2 times per week (as my work schedule and fiancee permit) and have been feverishly growing a decent tackle collection, experience, and some decent stories about "the one that got away". I have been doing a lot of research independently and feel like it would be great to share some of my limited experience as well as questions with an active bass fishing community. I also am a member of a guitar forum (music is my first love), but recently the guitar has been gathering a bit of dust while the fishing rods are experiencing all the action! I have been mainly fishing on Kent Lake and Proud Lake/Huron River areas and can't get enough fish to satisfy my angling itch! I have also done a fair share of (in years past) bowfishing, trolling (steelhead, pink salmon, lake trout), and perch fishing, but I am much more inclined to catching bass. I look forward to sharing with and learning from all of you here, so fish on!
