  1. I use fluoroclear and sufix fluoro for leaders on 832 braid
  2. I ordered the 7'3" as well! I also ordered the 7' mmf. I already have the 7'6". The one I have already is real nice!
  3. I've been using those thread bobber stops and they seem to work pretty well.
  4. The veritas is on sale at cabelas right now for $40
  5. Bought it, haven't used it
  6. Welcome!
  7. senkos and frogs have been working for me!
  8. Try it on one first. Just make sure you leave enough to spool up the 2nd reel once you realize how awesome it is! I'd suggest sufix 832 20lb braid in lime green if you're a line watcher, or moss green if you're not.
  9. Took it out today, and it certainly casts wonderfully. I am fairly new to baitcast reels and don't have the most well trained thumb. I only mildly backlashed once casting frogs for about 4-5 hours.
  10. Picked up the older, heavier abu revo sxhs for $100 new. Seems like a lot of reel for the money. Spooled it up with 50lb 832 and stuck it on my 7'6" mh veritas. I'll be using it for frogging and maybe try some punching and flippin with it too. Now the question: How'd i do?
  11. Just tried it myself and it truly is wonderful!
  12. Love the drill and empty spool idea, a lot!!!
  13. I've had some success using a Tennessee shad color Zoom as a chatterbait trailer.
  14. I use artificial baits because I hate bluegill messing with my nightcrawlers, and I am horrible at caring for minnows.
  15. It seems that the only 2 baits I need to catch bass lately are wacky senkos for open water and light cover, and hollow frogs for the thicker stuff. I'm at a point where I can just use these 2 and throw a bait anywhere where I am fishing. Deep water? Add a split shot to the wacky rig. Hard to reach spot? Skip it! I'm going to use just these 2 baits this weekend, and nothing else. For the rest of you, if you were going to use 2 baits exclusively, what would you use?
  16. The main reason I like to use the same diameter mono for backing is it makes math easier. If I have 120yd capacity for 12lb and want to put on 75 yards of 50lb braid, I know I need 45 yards of 12lb mono backing.
  17. I have 20lb 832 (lime green) on my 6930 which I use pretty much exclusively for wacky rigging.
  18. I've used the Zoom finesse worms on a shaky head and they stand straight up without a problem.
  19. I've had good luck with plum w/ emerald senkos moreso than black w/ blue
  20. I like both 832 and power pro, but definitely prefer 832 for spinning reels, because it's not as stiff as power pro. For baitcast reels, I have no reason (as of yet) to prefer one over the other, so I'll use whichever one is on sale and is available in the color I am looking for.
  21. you can always save it and use it as leader material. I have a spool of 17lb stren that I spooled up a reel with, and have since taken it off, so now i use it for topwater leaders since it floats so nicely!
  22. The bass are definitely getting fatter! Pulled a 12-13" bass out of the weeds yesterday that was easily heavier than some legal fish I've caught a few months ago.
  23. Sometimes you have to put that bait right on Mr. Bass's nose too, so casting to the same spot will sometimes put the bait right where it needs to be eventually. We've had success casting under docks and not getting a bite until the 4th or 5th cast.
  24. I thought it looked pretty good too, but the citica g6 is also on sale for $80...I know there's some good reels that can be had for $80 when sales and discounts are around.
