  1. 40# 832 w/ a 12# trilene big game leader and a snap. I use it for walking baits, open water frogging, rat-l-traps, and square bills. I can also ditch the snap and use it for light cover jigging with 3/8oz jigs. This setup does a lot!
  2. Revo SX and Abu Veritas MMF, $260 retail, paid $140 total due to sales. Use it for topwater/jerkbaits, squarebills, rat-l-traps, light jigs, some spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, open-water frogging, and even wacky wormin or light texas rigs. Great setup for lots of techniques!
  3. I use a 6' mf cabelas tourney trail/pflueger president combo that ended up costing $80 on sale. Great for the wacky rig!
  4. Try to find a sale on the old veritas. Cabelas had them for $40 a few months ago.
  5. i think color is half confidence and half water/weather conditions. If I'm fishing a color I am confident will catch bass, then my presentation will generally be much better. A great example is when I first started catching fish on a wacky rig, I had been trying a myriad of senko colors, and they started hitting the green pumpkin/black ones when I finally started catching fish with it. On that day, I ran out of them, and had to switch colors. I had watermelon w/red and black on hand, so I started throwing those, and was still catching a boatload of fish. Another example: When fishing with my uncle, he throws Rainbow Trout and Baby Bass senkos, while I was throwing my (at the time) confidence colors 301 and 330. They both caught fish, the only reason one of us caught one where the other one didn't was based on presentation and location, not color. Hope this helps!
  6. Hmm...lemme see Senko color 231 Roboworm 6" straight tail white chatterbait, 3/8 oz w/tennessee shad fluke trailer Booyah Pad Crasher Red-head zara spook Rod: this is a tough choice since i would be throwing slop and drop shots...so i'd probably go with the 7' mmf veritas Reel: 2nd gen abu revo sx spooled with 40lb 832. trailers would depend on the bait this wouldnt be ideal for the thick slop with the frog or the dropshot, but i could get away with more open-water frogging and some heavier drop-shotting with a 1/4 oz weight instead of the 1/8oz i ususally throw. EDIT: Forgot to mention that this would all be fished on Kent Lake, MI.
  7. I've been throwing robos, zoom trick worms and finesse worms, and so far only the robo has been productive for me, so they get my vote!
  8. Another $100 casting rod thread? Another vote for the veritas here!

I trim one leg shorter than the other to assist in the walking. I also like to add a trailer hook on the popping frogs.
  10. I've been throwing pad crashers and livetargets (medium size). I found the live targets rolling over thick pads a lot, so i picked up the larger size. since it is wider, I am hoping it will not roll as much. I haven't tried the spro i picked up recently either, but so far the pad crasher is the winner!
  11. i always seem to need a few more bags of my 2 favorite senko colors, and another few topwaters.
  12. another vote for the veritas! I am using the 7'3" MH as a frog rod. It is definitely more stout than the 7'6"mh
  13. i've had mild success on white z-man chatterbaits, using a tennessee shad super fluke as a trailer.
  14. I've been using a 7'6" mh veritas for frogging. I just acquired the 7'3" mh veritas, which is actually thicker than the 7'6. Abu rods tend to be underrated in the power department. I don't have much to compare them to, but that 7'3" is a very stout rod. I'll be using the 7'3" for my frogging from now on, and use the 7'6" for jigs and spinnerbaits methinks.
  15. Another vote for 832 here!
  16. i love senko color 231 for dirty water. the waters i fish are mainly largemouth rich, but i have found a few smallies with this color too!
  17. i use 20lb 832 in lime green on my main spinning setups, and i have 30lb yellow power pro on my medium power baitcast setup for wacky and weightless senkos. love the visibility for the slack-line techniques. for the texas rigs, jigs, and frogs, and reaction baits, i like to use moss green so i can get away without using a leader in the thick stuff.
  18. Nice fish! Hold them as close to the camera as possible so they look huge!
  19. I just keep mine all in the original packaging and throw whichever ones I think I might use for the day in my tackle bag, usually 2-3 colors of senkos (1-2 bags each) some grubs and chunks for jig trailers, 2 colors of flukes, 1 bag of trick worms, 2 packs of craws or creatures and a pack of tubes or hula grubs. I uses to bring all of my soft plastics but it was a pain sifting through everything to find the senko color I wanted.
  20. My worst backlashes have occurred while using fluoro. After switching exclusively to braid my backlashes, when they do happen, are not anywhere close to as bad when using straight fluoro.
  21. I have one. It's currently spooled up with 30lb power pro and I use it for spinnerbaits and swim jigs. I was getting bad backlashes with fluoro, but it is pretty darn smooth and light. I caught a 28" northern with it and it had no problem handling it
  22. Nice find! I always swing by the fishing dept whenever I'm at Wally World because of stories like this!
  23. Cool! My friend was talking about using a 3/4 oz weight Carolina rig on light tackle. I thought maybe it was the bass bite on my mind which thought I should go heavier.
  24. Gonna be doin some walleye trolling and a little perch fishing out on Lake Erie this weekend. The guy who's boat we're headin out on has all the trolling gear, but said I should bring a rod for perch. I have a beater 5'6" light quantum trax combo I'm thinkin I'll bring. Could I use a 6' medium cabelas tourney trail and still feel those perch bites?
