Swimming Worm
I don't know about the 7" Cut-R but the 6" is a really interesting bait fished weightless, and there isn't anything else quite like it. The tail waves exactly like a baitfish tail fin on a horizontal fall, and they can be jerked or swum as well -- you can fish them as a stick worm, a soft jerkbait, and swimbait all in the same retrieve. Never had any trouble with durability, except occasionally a very committed sunfish making off with the tail.

Free lures
lol, it was like 5 years ago -- Biospawn was still a bassresource sponsor. They said in the letter they only ask that recipients spread the word. So I posted a review here of the 6.5 plasmatails, which were new at the time: I'm not so sure they even do this anymore. You know what they say: If it's free, you are most likely the product.

Free lures
OK, I know of something. When you sign up to be on Biospawn's email list, you get added to their "tester list", and you have a chance to be selected to receive a free sample. A few years ago I was selected one month and got a handful of free worms and craws and to "test": I don't know if they still do this, or how often, but they still say so on their site. https://biospawn.com/

What color would you use of the spinner bait in murky water?
1. Contrast against what? in dirty water the background is dark 2. As long as they're equally opaque, silhouettes of bright and dark baits are basically the same.

Enthusiastic member of Team Bright here -- dirty water is already dark!

When to use a weighted wacky hook???
I use 1/16 or 1/8 oz heads whenever I expect strikes deeper than about 5 feet.

Am I leaving anything on the table by NOT using black sinkers?
Nah. Whenever I buy painted weights, the paint scrapes off after awhile, yet they don't stop biting.

Jigs vs texas rigs in ponds
For pitching and working the bottom, usually t-rigged plastics unless it's early or late in the season and weedgrowth is minimal. But don't sleep on a swimjig retrieved mid-column or burned near the surface -- can be great in ponds all summer. I've become a huge fan of these -- they're the most snagless jighead I think I've ever used, and still hook up well.

Great fish! Which of you holds the title for best fish out of your new home lake so far?

Size vs numbers
Most of the time, a 5lb+ female who passes up a chance to spawn with a 3lb male isn't making any babies at all, because males her size are not anywhere to be found.

Chatterbait & spinnerbait colors
Chatterbait: Green Pumpkin or Bluegill Spinnerbait: Bluegill/Sunfish with gold blades.

What's to like about a kayak?
Easy transportability. Easy storage. Launch anywhere -- no ramp needed. Affordability. Low maintenance/usage cost. Opens up water that's inaccessible by boat.

War eagle finness spinnerbaits
Yes, they're great -- I think i have them in Mouse, Sun Perch, and some greenish, bluegill-y color.

All of the ones available on your link would probably be good, but I like "Firebug" and "Firefly".

Want to fish tomorow. Where would you go?
I would expect lower elevation to have warmer water temps and be farther along toward the spawn. Lower one is also smaller and slightly shallower, which is usually means warmer (all else equal) See if you can get out and check the water temps of both places. If the lower one is indeed several degrees warmer, I'd fish it now, and move to the higher one later once the lower one starts spawning in order to extend pre-spawn fishing.

Size vs numbers
I fish a lot of smaller waterbodies that differ greatly in how large the typical bass is. 3lb in some places is around average. Elsewhere, it may be a PB. But I tend to agree with the notion that it's more about the location and timing than about the lure. I have caught most of my larger fish on skirted baits: buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and jigs. Does this mean these are "big fish baits"? Maybe. But maybe I just happen to fish these lures more often in places and times that have larger fish. Spring and Fall, for instance, are usually considered the best times to catch larger bass. I fish more moving baits in spring and fall (such as spinnerbaits and chatterbaits) than in the summer. And there are some lakes I only fish fall and spring because during summer there is more recreational traffic than I care to put up with. During the height of the summer, I fish texas rigged plastics and topwaters more often than anything else. This is usually because of heavy weedgrowth, where a jig or spinnerbait would foul up too much. I also tend to catch smaller average bass during this time. So it's hard to tell whether lure choice has anything to do with it...timing and location may be responsible instead.

Finally got a chance to sneak out this spring and put myself on the board with the first bass of 2021: Walking the riverbank for an hour and a half produced 5 smallies all about like this one (12-13"), switching back and forth between a stupid-rigged pumpkinseed tube and a Keitech swing impact.

Seasons good for underspins
For me depends on bait and weedgrowth -- I get bit on underspins in pre-spawn and mid-late summer, but in different places.
