  1. Nice fish! Sounds like a fun day. They moving up shallow yet, or were you fishing humps again?
  2. Opinions on caliber will be so drastically different depending on who you talk to. I used to own a .380 for every day and 9mm for home protection. I traded both in and upped the calibers. My everyday is a 9mm Baretta Nano. In the winter when clothes are bulkier I carry my Glock 17, which is a .40. My premium 9mm was a Glock 26. Its nice and small (as far as glocks go). It's heavy, which is good and bad. Bad because it weights you down, good because it helps so much with recoil. I upped from a .380 because I heard horror stories of hollow point .380 rounds not penetrating a hoodie/sweatshirt and jacket in the winter. As far as convincing her, I did not have to go down that road. My fiance carries a .38 snub. I would just pound home the point of safety. An explain to her that mace might be OK in an open area with no wind. Try spraying mace on a windy day in the city, or in doors. You'll do just as much damage to yourself as the person attacking. And you NEVER KNOW when that might happen. PS- x2 on the strong, comfortable belt. Make sure she DOES NOT carry it in her purse if she decides to get one to carry every day.
  3. Leave the net stowed. It makes it a pain if you need it in a pinch, but I feel like if you are expecting to use it, you'll be disappointed.
  4. I've been fishing Van Sciver lake (1 of the 3 included in the membership). I tried Manor early in the summer and got skunked. It was a crappy day all around. Rainy, cold, windy day. So we decided to focus on Van Sciver. The lakes are only seperated by a 10ft strip of land, but they fish COMPLETELY different from eachother. They are completely different lakes. Van Sciver is about 2.5 times the size of Manor and has holes up to 35ft deep. The average depth is probably around 10ft. There are 3 sections to the lake (Upper, Middle and Lower) and depending on the wind, they can all fish as totally different lakes themselves. Manor on the other hand is 20ft at its deepest hole (don't quote me on that) and averages about 5-6 ft. It is a really muddy/weedy lake with TONS of vegetation. Seems like it would be an amazing lake to fish, and it usually is, but it is a high pressure lake. If you're in the mood to flip lilly pads or docks, thats the lake to hit.
  5. What are the details on Manor? Water temp? Seeing lots of bait fish? I tried Manor once this year and haven't gone back since.
  6. Welcome Ggerod and Paul! We are happy to get as much input/involvement as possible on this forum.
  7. Not sure how ziljian did, but we didn't do well today. 2 pike, 1 dink LMB and 2 LMB that were smaller than the lures we were using. We hit shorelines and humps with cranks, jigs and flukes. Another rough day out there. The water was 68-70 depending on where you were in the lake and the green algae was thick on the southern ends of the lake.
  8. Looks interesting. Let us know what you find. Anyone been on the water this week? Heading out tomorrow morning. I'm think the front that just blew thru is going to make it a tough day tomorrow.
  9. haha Yep! Not sure what kind of electronics you have, but there are programs you can use to map the whole lake. Basically you put a blank chip into your plotter and save the lake in there as you make passes up and down. Sidescan helps a lot because you won't need to take as many passes. This is Lowrance's mapping program. http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Mapping/ It will apparently allow you to create a 3D map of the lake so you can see the contours and structure.
  10. I did a little research on this. I don't think they are on any of the chips becuase it is a private lake. However, 1 of the guys at West Marine in Bensalem told me that someone a year or 2 ago bought new electronics for his boat (down scan/ side scan/ structure scan/ you name it) and mapped/plotcharted the whole lake. I'm sure if anyone knew who it was that did that, they could buy a copy of it from him. But I have no clue who it is haha. As I said, I did a LITTLE research on this. I know that the Navionics app available on phones/tablets, does not have the charts for the PWC lakes. If you come up with anything else on this let me know.
  11. Looks like they still want that slow presentation for the most part. This front blowing thru will throw a wrench in things too. I'll be out on Saturday morning to give it another go!
  12. I guess they had a tourny on Sunday. I saw them weighing in some big bags near the main launch on sciver. Odd though because the BCAC site says that tourny was on the Delaware. Maybe a different club? Or do they still weigh in at Sciver? I saw some nice bags being carried to the table there too. What were you fishing? Cranks?
  13. I've only been on Manor once this year. Has anyone heard how that lake is fishing?
  14. beautiful fish! Yea this year has been rough. I'm really hoping the fall bite is on nice and strong over the next few weeks. I'll probably be on Sciver on Saturday morning. Keep us posted with your fish/findings zildjian! - Dale
  15. Welcome to the forums Turkey sandwich. ...im hungry now.
  16. Another PWC member. Check out the fishing report post that me, Delco and a few others have been talking in. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/141552-penn-warner-club-tullytown-pa/page-3#entry1613937
  17. I went out. BCAC had a tourny that I didnt know about. It was another rough day. I think the fall bite will be in full force soon. At least I hope. We caught a few early. 1 on a fluke and 1 on a jig but couldn't locate much after that.
  18. Has anyone been to Van Sciver this week? Im heading up there tomorrow morning and I'm wondering what the conditions have been like since its been a lot cooler this week.
  19. Went out on Sunday morning. It was a really cool morning. About 53 degrees when we got on the water, with no wind at all. Then sun came up and the wind picked up, which made for a cold morning on the lake. I caught a few dinks, biggest weighint maybe a pound. The biggest came on a purple power worm, the others came on a chrome and blue lipless crank. My dad caught a nice sized pickeral swimming a tube bait. It was a pretty uneventful weekend. I was out last weekend and the water temp was about 79. Sunday it was down to about 73. I'm hoping the fall bite will start soon!!
  20. PWC is great, but yea, this fishing has been rough. Doesn't seem too uncommon for this year though. Where are you fishing?
  21. Thanks for all of the input guys. Sounds like this rod won't work for what I want to use it for. The search continues!
  22. Hell of a first smallie! Nice work!
  23. Hey all, I have an opportunity to buy a Falcon Bucoo Micro 7' Med/Moderate for a light crankbait rod. It is $129.99 on tackle warehouse and I can buy this 1 for $75. Would you recommend the rod? Looking forward to your input. - Dale
  24. Hey Danny! Welcome to the forums! - Dale
