Lake Nockamixon Fish Habitat Structures
I'm really looking forward to learning this body of water. You are absolutely right about putting a target on the man made structure by releasing coordinates. They even went as far as a "How to Fish Lake Nockamixon" youtube video! They specifically highlight where stretches of weedbeds grow and where man made structure is. They actually took it a step further and recommend what types of lures to fish in those spots!! In looking and lake countour maps, I know to avoid the spots that are specifically marked for "man mad structure." The lake that I've fished for the past 10 years is a stagnant lake that was dug out, filled and stocked with fish. I am hoping to learn A LOT while fishing Nockamixon, given that I have never religiously fished a lake with feeder creeks. Great points that you made. Thanks! - Dale

Lake Nockamixon Fish Habitat Structures
I've been researching the lake because I'm planning on making that my "home lake" next year, so I'm trying to learn as much as possible before I hit the water. From what I've read/heard, the pilings they put in are EXTREMELY high pressure spots. I'm sure there are fish on them, but you'll need to finesse the hell out of them. But that is just my opinion from the research I've been doing. We all know that research is completely different than real life situations. - Dale

Lake Galena (Peace Valley Park, Pennsylvania) - 7/20/14
Just saw this now. I'm glad you're getting back into fishing. I'm actually planning on moving up that way within the next 6 months. I'll probably start calling Nockamixon my home lake. Nice work on Galena though! I've heard that fishing can be tough there in the summer, especially from the shore. Tight lines! - Dale

Powerplant Lakes In Pa?
well now... that is all unfortunate news. haha

Knots
They are 2 simple, strong knots. Clinch won't work well on braid because braid (for the most part) lacks the ability to bind on itself becuase it doesn't have much "give" in it. The binding/constricting of the clinch knot is what makes it tight, so if it is used on braid it runs a high risk of slipping loose under strain. I try to keep my knots simple. So I use those 2 and then al albright for tying a leader.

Powerplant Lakes In Pa?
Wow. Thanks guys. I searched this a bunch on google and couldn't find anything. I'll have to look into Lake Galena a bit more since that is closer to me. I'm familiar with that lake and have been to the park there. But the lake is probably 30 miles from the Limerick powerplant, which is apparently what the water supply is used to cool. I'll have to see how much of an impact that cooling has on the water over the course of 30 miles.

Powerplant Lakes In Pa?
Hey guys. I've been reading some articles and watching some videos of people fishing in "powerplant lakes." It is something I've never really thought about or considered. How would I go about finding a powerplant lake? Are there any in PA? Or NJ? It would be pretty nice to be able to fish for a few more months. Thanks! - Dale

When Or How Often To Retie
As far as the leader goes, I tie an Albright. It is a nice tight, small knot that will not bang up the eyes of your rod. Make sure you tie it correctly. Here is a link to it: http://www.animatedknots.com/albright/index.php?Categ=fishing I check the first 3-4 feet of my line every chance I get, whether I am fishing a leader or not. Same goes for the knot to the lure. After every fish I catch, I feel the line for any fraying or dings. Same thing goes for if I am throwing in rock areas, or docks. Any time I think there might have been contact with my line and something that could cut it, I check. And as a freebie, I check my knot every time I pull weeds off of my lure. As for the knot your are using for the lure, make sure you are using a knot that is appropriate for your line. For example, if you are fishing mono or flouro, use a knot that will cinch down on the line like the Improved Clinch. On something like straight braid, use a Palmomar knot. If you type an improved Clinch on braid, it has a high possibility to slip through and untie because the braid lacks the pliability needed to tighten on itself. Hopefully that helps!

I was out on Manor this morning. I didnt realize it but today they had their duck season restrictions on the lake, so the areas to fish were limited. I fished in the main channel mostly. I hit the docks and lily pads with jigs, square bills and chatter baits. Did really well with the chatterbait. It was my first time fishing one, so that built my confidence in the lure a little bit. Got a few small bass, pickerel, and a nice 3.5lber. The bite stopped around 11. The water was about 60 and the bait fish were schooling all over. I'm hoping to head out tomorrow afternoon for a bit, but I'll how I feel tomorrow about fighting the 20-30 mph winds.

What Rod Would Be Best For This?
Looking at the Abu Garcia Veritas Winch MH/M. Thoughts?

What Rod Would Be Best For This?
The M/M doesn't have too much give in it? I feel like a M/M would feel like an Uglystick when throwing a lure that size. No?

What Rod Would Be Best For This?
OK so I was right in thinking of a 7' MHM then. I'll start the search. I'll check out the St Croix rods. Thanks guys!

What Rod Would Be Best For This?
I went on a spending spree a few weeks ago. In my fishing tackel frenzy I apparently added 2 H2O XPRESS CRD+ Deep diving cranks. I've never thrown a crankbait that large. It is 3 1/8 inches long and 3/4oz. I would need to buy a new setup to throw deep divers. Any rods that you would suggest that won't break the bank? Thanks all!

Squarebill Issues - Help!
Hey all. Wanted to drop an update on this. I emailed Strike King last week and told them what happened to the lure. I came home today and had 2 boxes from Strike King at my door. They sent me 3 green gizzard shad, 3 sexy shad, 2 gizzard shad and 2 chartreuse sexy shad lures (all KVD 1.5 Square Bills) and a Strike King hat!
