  1. Catching the male bass is easy, but we all want the real prize. That big fat female bass, but shes always to scared to attack. Whats the right technique to get those fish to bite?
  2. It happens. Just take it easy pulling the hook out, and if the fish is bleeding bad be sure to get it back in the water soon, the fishes blood clots better in the water. Ive caught bass that are half blind, and even though you shouldn't try to hook them that way, just know that its not a absolute death sentence.
  3. Ive never seen that lure, but its good to test things out. Try it.
  4. I have been told to NOT use them cause they scare fish off, especially the big ones who have gotten older and smarter. BUT, if you are fishing with a bunch of friends who dont know how to fish and youre almost like the leader cause you have to change all of their baits, then it saves TIME and LINE.
  5. I forgot to say that i have broken a few of the lips on my lures, this has never happened with an X-Rap. They are tough lures.
  6. I sorta like X-Raps, the first time I used one I caught a few bass, all about 2 lbs, but I do think that they are very overpriced. I think that the only reason some people talk em up so much is because the X-rap is a very attractive lure. It has nice eyes, its very reflective, and it has a nice body shape, but I dont think the bass love quite as much as our eyes do. I have only had okay luck with it, and I have had far better luck with lures cheaper than it. If I where you I would buy 1 and try it, because everyone has there own personal way of retrieving a lure, and so you got find that lure that works with YOUR retrieving style, and who knows the X-Rap could be the lure for you. But it still has to be right for the lakes/canals you fish or it will never work as good as it can.

  9. Well, you should stick with the Palomar knot cause thats the best simple knot for braid. And if you ever get your frog, or any weedless topwater bait stuck on a lily pad dont try pulling it out with medium power, and then pulling hard, cause pulling with medium power is what gets it STUCK. When you get your topwater stuck on a lily pad, reel the slack out of your line, point you rod-tip strait at your bait, and slowly pull, do it right, and it works every time. But you should make sure you have no frays and no knots in your line. Its always a good idea to make sure your rod tips are good. And ive never had to do this, but You can treat your line once in a wile by spraying liquid on too your line. I dont know the names of the brands that make this product, as i said ive never had to do it, but its supposed extend the life of your line. If that doesn't help, im stumped.
  10. Yes you can, but it will be less effective in clear conditions because the bass can see the line. I would recommend mono in clear water, but then you need to make sure you set the hook really hard cause there is line stretch, but even then my hook set ratio is still lower. So I have decided to fish with braid even when I finesse fish because even though I get less hits, I almost never miss a hook set. But if you exclude the hook set ratio in my opinion mono is better.
  11. On a frog called a Ribbit. It sinks slowly and you can bump the stump with it, witch works, but if you reel slowly to keep it at the top and twitch it hear and there, the bass cant keep off of it. I started fishing a new spot and caught my old PB, went back to the spot 2 days later and caught my currant PB. From then on its been my go to lure.
  12. I've heard a lot about "Big fish baits". Some people say that certain baits sift the big bass from the small bass. Is this true? If so, what bait would you guys say pretty much only catches big bass?
  13. I've gotten equal amounts of hits on any bait I throw at them, but because there is so vegetation in the water this time of year, I have had to stick to weedless baits. Topwater frogs in particular have been VERY successful, the Spro frog, or any other variant of a skirted, weedless, topwater frog has worked wonders.
