  1. I have seen while bank fishing too, but the reason I walk to another spot is because if you hook a bass, especially a big one, the gator will try and usually succeed to eat your fish.So at the end you use your lure, your fish, and kill a fish all at the same time.
  2. What he said, do NOT try to horse the fish in.
  3. Its hard to not catch fish with live bait. Let it sit long enough and you're gonna get something.
  4. So there's this canal that has about 50% weeds 50% water and its about 6 feet deep in the middle, and there are sometimes 5-10 4-7 lb bass schooling, and they wont bite. What lure/line/technique should I use?
  5. I have to say I dont know what it is, but my hook up ratio goes up a LOT when I use TruTurn hooks. So now they are all I use.
  6. Couldn't tell ya what worm that is,but there are many variations of that worm if you want to try another... But you can make a mould of that worm and create your own replicas.
  7. AKA topwater morning and late evening, and down deep mid day.
  8. Let it float to the top and twitch it about once every 5 to 10 seconds in the morning, from about 9:30 am until 5-6ish pm crank it in at a decent pace and jerk it here and there, and at sunset switch back to letting it float and twitching it. The color you should use depends on the color of the water you fish in.
  9. I know that you need heavy line to get your lure out of thick weeds, and sometimes a fish pulling you deeper. But is 60-80 lb braid overkill? I use 20 lb braid, and ive pulled 7 lb bass plus heavy weeds over a 10 ft drop off.
  10. Bass probably do get bite marks on their tails, but most scares on basses tails are from bed making.
  11. Who knows, The Choctaw bass and the largemouth basses genetics might be close enough to create hybrids that are even harder to tell apart..
  12. Fan casting is always better than casting wherever. Sight fishing is fun, If thats what you like. Casting a topwater lure about 2-5 feet away for the shoreline at first light is very effective. And try to step lightly, you sometimes can scare fish from a distance if youre stomping. Good luck.
  13. I've had the same problem except my pinky went numb when I set the hook and after I regained feeling in my pinky, then it started to hurt. Doctor said it was nerve damage, and to NOT FISH. Well I was not gonna not fish, so, I held the rod so that when I set the hook it put pressure on a different part of my hand. Easier said than done, I had to switch to spinning gear to do this, but it healed up I guess, and I've never felt that pain again. I think it all starts with ONE hookset that just gets a bad part of your hand.
  14. I love to help and try to help whenever I can.
  15. Only one time... Its nice when fish save your bait, and let you catch them all at once huh?
  16. I never though of it that way. It is a good idea to let the bass go about its business, and make more bass for the future.
  17. You need a par of pliers, must have. You need to be able to get the hook out if its in there good. But you can never go wrong with a bomber. I caught my first bass on a bomber.
  18. 7.5" Culprit ribbon tail worm, 10" Culprit ribbon tail worm, Super Fluke (any size), Horny toad (any size) and whichever color fits your lakes/canals.
  19. Yes, but if you fought the bass for a good run or 2, or even a jump, you will have no chance unless you try a different bait with different action, like, if you hooked it on topwater dont change to another topwater lure, change to something completely different, even then, your chances are slim to none, But if you never even had a hookset on the fish then youre good and you dont have to worry. This has worked for me in the past, and i hope it works for you.
  20. All fish can slightly change their color pattern, some more than others. They blend in when they can. If you catch it out of clear shallow water bass tend to be really spotty, and if you catch them down near the bottom bass tend to be dark brown.
  21. Thats still a largemouth. A spotted bass has a much smaller head.
  22. I was worried that would be the answer. I guess I was fishing the spawn right after all.
