  1. Every now and then I get a feeling like I need a break but mostly just to eat and sleep.
  2. I have had it happen more than once. There are a lot of idiots out there.
  3. I normally do not like to keep fish unless I have to. When I do have to I clean them immediately and put them on ice and fillet them once I get home.
  4. I think #4 is also a bluegill
  5. I caught an 11lb channel cat on a bluegill swim bait once but never a crank.
  6. I used to use 2 piece rods exclusively and loved them. I will say though that once I moved to the 1 piece rods I never looked back. I do have a couple Fenwick 7ft HMG 2 piece rods just in case I need one but I don't take them out much.
  7. I really need one, that thing will kill it where I fish
  8. I had another one yesterday. I was fishing at a local lake and landed a 5 #er and the next cast I cast in the same spot and get nailed. I get it to dock and as I set my rod down he jumps and spits the hook. He was probably in the 6# range, which would have been the largest I have caught to date. It is now my mission to get that dang fish by the end of the year.
  9. I used to fish a private lake when I was younger. The gentleman that owned the property would let people fish it as long as they promised to catch and release only. One day he caught a family taking a cooler full of fish out with them. To this day he will not let anybody fish that lake and that was at least 15 years ago. I wish people would just respect the rules.
  10. Up here the perch fight like mad as well. I do agree that bluegill sure have heart, they fight like heck.
  11. I have had many swivels break and not only cheap ones. I don't use them much anymore for that very reason.
  12. I love my black Spro popping frog and so do the fish. It's about to the point that I will need to replace it.
  13. Signed up today, this will be fun.
  14. I live just outside of Spokane. Where in Eastern WA are you located?
  15. I'm going to have to try the super glue trick. I fished mine once and the minuite it sank I put it back in the box and have not touched it since.
  16. My dad and I were at a lake about 45 minuites when I got snagged on the bottom. When I tried to free the snag it started swimming away. Don't know what it was but it was huge, probably a catfish or carp. Wish I would have been able to at least fight it for a while before it broke me off.
  17. I caught a G Loomis GLX at a local lake one time. The reel was shot but rod was still good. As it turns out a few weeks later I was fishing next to a guy that was telling me the story how his daughter casted his almost new G Loomis in the lake. So I actually got to return it to it's rightful owner. I have a St. croix at the bottom of the same lake, hopefully I can catch it some day.
  18. I probably spent $3500 last year. The time I spend out on the water with my boy is absolutely priceless though. He is only 5 and he's already catching bigger fish than me.
  19. That's too bad, I certainly don't agree with killing a bunch of smallmouth to improve salmon and trout fishing. If they are having a negative impact on the salmon and trout population however then there may be a legitimate concern. We have had a few lakes around here that they will kill off to improve trout fishing only to find the lake in the same state 5 years later.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I guess it doesn't matter because the fish can't seem to keep it out of their mouths.
  21. Just bought a Megabass Pop Max and I love the action. Problem is that I have only fished it twice and the paint is already chipping off in quite a few areas. Has anybody else had this problem? For the price I wouldn't think that this would happen.
  22. I fish at night quite often and mostly use a black spinnerbait. I did pick up a couple of black Z Man chatterbaits that I have been fishing the last couple of trips and I can't keep them off my hook.
  23. No backing was in fact the problem. Thank you for all of the help.
  24. Never done backing in the past but I will give it a shot and see if it works. Thanks for all of the help.
