Seeing that kinda action and not get a bite is frustrating as heck. If it looks they are trapping minnows in the shallows I usually just try a weightless Super Fluke or Fluke Jr. and mix the retrieve up. If they are cruising for bream, etc then a wacky worm or small swim jig. But sometimes it seems like they just won't go for an artificial with so much live prey close by.

5/16 Booyah Baby Boo jig, I stock up on the watermelon red, black/blue, and Texas craw. I fish similar waters year round and always have a couple of these with me. You can pitch it, drag it, swim it etc. and fish will bite it in every season .

There are some good answers here. My favourite river smallmouth baits are a Rebel craw crankbait, 4" stick worm, and a tube. I throw the craw around rocks, gravel etc, the stick worm is for skipping under shady trees and undercut banks. The tube is my open water bait for fishing eddies, eddy lines and other current breaks.

Afternoon/Early Evening for me, work is done for the day so I can just get out there, relax and try to catch a few .

Hello everyone ! I've been reading and following this site for a couple years and all the advice and information is priceless. I mostly fish from rivers and ponds from the bank, sometimes I get a spot on the back deck and get to fish the Savannah river chain of lakes. Thanks to BR and it's members I picked up a baitcaster, and the jig fishing thread has been a real game changer.

The DT series, shad raps, and countdown series are great. I don't fish a lot of treble hook lures, but I take two of those three in my tackle bag everywhere. I don't know how many posts I've read on here about the shad rap and it's ability to catch fish in cold water .

I would have agreed with you until last year,but if your fishing from the back of the boat in a tournament or say around a pond with lots of trees it's nice to switch hands and create an angle for yourself. Lefty casting practice also keeps me entertained this time of year when I can't fish much.
