  1. Nice! What part of the country are you in?
  2. That and when I see "white bucket all-stars" keeping Every. Single. Fish.
  3. Sirsnookalot is living proof that a baitcaster is not necessary, you are only missing out if you let it get to you. Fish with what you like and what you are comfortable with.
  4. 150-200 ft seems like a long way. When he hooks up im assuming he moves closer to meet the fish at waters edge? If not i feel bad for those fish being drug for 100 plus feet! My point is, if hes catching fish hes going to get close to the shore at some point therefore id suggest working on stealthy approaches rather than distance.
  5. Nice catch. It looks like george sutton wildlife area in norman oklahoma. I got excited, hoping that maybe id have a chance at her.
  6. That place looks familiar, where are you in that pic?
  7. I use them when i plan on losing a bunch of hooks. They've worked fine for me but as others have said they tend to rust very quickly but at the price point they are pretty much disposable anyway
  8. And this is why BR is the BEST gathering of anglers in the world!
  9. What kind of cat is that first pic and where is that?
  10. Perusing through the bps catalog to beat the blues and i noticed a review on page 265. Is this yours Hi Salenity????
  11. How dare you tease us down here in oklahoma with your nectar of the gods! Heady topper is on my bucket list. Good to know there are other hop-headed fishermen out there!
  12. Got mine yesterday. Took almost a month though
  13. Have dreams about fishing ALL the time. Usually they are of me just fishing. I had one recently that i caught a state record. Funny thing is that ive never specifically targeted big bass. Im just happy if i catch any.
  14. Does this setup affect casting distance and accuracy? It seems like there could be a possibility of more friction through though the guides since the line has to turn 180 degrees? I could be wrong, just wondering
  15. I have seen a few rods on c.l. recently that have guides that start on the top of the rod and eventualy wrap around to the bottom of rod like a spinning rod. What is this type of rod called? Are they custom and what are the benefits? Just curious
  16. I was in the same boat last summer. I gave up on baitcasters after a few frustrating fishing trips. I thought i had put it up for good but got a hankering to give it another shot this winter.il Im really glad i got back on that horse. It just takes time, patience, and practice. Dont give up. Take the time to practice at home so it doesnt ruin your fishing trips and eventually youll get comfortable enough to bring them with you. Id take both spinning and baitcasting just in case though.
  17. I learned that no matter how easy it looks on youtube, catching bass can be frustratingly challenging.
  18. Ive been tossing around the idea of getting a castable fishfinder for some time now but am kind of skeptical of their capabilities. Please keep us informed as you use it!
  19. Nice catch. I fish ponds mostly and have been wanting to try a blade bait. How were you fishing it?
  20. Awesome! Glad they released it
  21. Pretty fancy tools for your basic hook removal. Sparky by any chance?
  22. I havent done much research on nylon, does it have the same optical characteristics of flourocarbon underwater?
  23. The day i caught the fish in my avatar. We were in kansas fishing a private pond over the 4th if july weekend. I had just gotten into bass fishing and was i OBSESSED! I spent the whole morning beating the banks by myself as everyone in the family slept in. I also spent a fair amount of time on an old dock that was perfectly positioned between two trees that were partially submerged. Later in the day, after everone woken up and made their way to the pond i made my way back to the dock. I stepped on the dock and made a cast. As i started to retrieve the dock essentially exploded beneath me! The entire thing collapsed without warning! Luckily the water was only chest deep and i escaped (minus my wrist watch and a little pride) relatively unharmed. The funny thing was while i felt bad for destroying the dock the owner (my brother in laws grandfather) was glad it was gone and was sorry for not warning me about the state of the dock. It was a great weekend otherwise and definitely the most memorable yet!
