  1. Hey everyone, for those interesting in joining a club that is near the charlotte area. We've got guys from charlotte to Statesville and we have club meetings in Mooresville. Our club is built on friendship and fun. Dues are low as are tournament fees. Feel free to send me a pm or email at acmintun@gmail.com Check my previous post
  2. Lake wateree, SC I caught a big deep diving crank bait on a Texas rig. I guess the hook had punched through the bait a bit and it caught the bait perfectly in the front eye. Still use it to this day.
  3. The hard plastic drag washer is there in the pictures I posted, impossible to see it in those pictures I know, but I do know how the drag system goes together with the main gear etc etc, I'm thinking the spring that holds that clutch pin might be bent or something.
  4. Hey guys, looking for some help finishing repairing this reel. I've already gotten the anti reverse bearing cleaned thoroughly and have one last issue with this reel that I just can't quite wrap my head around. The issue that I'm having, and I took pictures just in case you can't understand my lingo for parts, is that the bottom of the main gear lightly rubs against the top of the clutch engage pin and I just can't figure out the problem. I don't have the schematics for this reel specifically but it's definitely not a complicated reel. I don't think that I'm missing any washers on the bottom end of the drive shaft or any under the bearing for the drive shaft because that would shim up the plate that secures the clutch down, as well as the clutch pin. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and Mike if you'rereading this I've got an older chronarch to send your way with missing pieces. A fellow club member of mine attempted to learn reel maintenance and cleaning and washed a part of the worm gear assembly down the drain. Sorry I forgot to include the model. It's a silver daiwa exceler 7.1 100sh
  5. I stopped doing the test and figured out what was wrong, I kind of guess it was the spool pin but nice to hear confirmation. problem solved, thanks guys
  6. No, the clutch is engaged before I start, I would not put that kind of pressure on the clutch since there is absolutely no fishing application to that. It does appear that the yoke is not fully seated/flush against the cam plate when the clutch is engaged. I did not bend the bottom of the pinion gear or anything like that.
  7. Hello everyone, I have a newish Lew's Tourney Pro, left-handed, in 6.4.1 that I took apart and did an inital cleaning. I purchased the reel in early December and it has worked like a dream. After my initial cleaning I reassembled the reel and I generally go through the same process with the reel when I finish cleaning. I slowly rotate the handles to ensure the grease in thoroughly spread out, speed up gradually, then do an set of start and stops to ensure that the gears and pins are engaging propely etc etc. Well my final "stress test" is a higher speed start and stop and when I came to the stop the spool rotated another full turn and make a rapid clicking sound until it stopped(handle was not spinning). The pinion gear, yoke, and springs are in good condition so I am at a loss as to what it could be. Maybe I over lubricated? I dont know, any help is appreciated.
  8. Just like the title says, where do you his find the best deals on bulk fishing line
  9. You specifically mentioned me stocking up on tackle for myself, so let's not mince words. So you were implying that I was selfish.I also never said I disliked black Friday,I said I liked it......
  10. It's just funny that in tournaments we catch a fish and if someone is driving by I've had a guy loosen up his drag a bit and just chill, pretending he doesn't have anything on. Or when we boat a fish we just pretend nothing is in the net, like we are retying or whatever
  11. I was watching the news on thanksgiving night and they were doing a story on how the shops were opening up on thanksgiving etc etc.....and they had a camera crew at the mall and they were interviewing a lady who said, "I think the stores opening up on Thanksgiving is ridiculous, everyone should be at home spending time with their families." Meanwhile she had armfuls of shopping bags
  12. It's funny that you simply assume that I blow money on a ton of tackle. My fishing budget was after getting my family gifts and basics, diapers clothes etc, and a couple nice things for the old lady. So quick to judge yet sooooooo far from reality. Sometimes it's better to stay silent and let us think you're a fool than to speak and remove all doubt
  13. I did go to bass pro to look around and see if I liked anything. It was ridiculously packed. There were bins of flannel pajama pants in big bins for like $5. If you have ever seen a zombie movie or show, and someone goes down and they are swarmed and piled on....it was exactly like that
  14. I know a lot of people aren't fans of black Friday with crowds, or they dislike what capitalism can drive people to do. We've all seen the crazy videos of people getting trampled and spending time away from there family for the sake of a good deal. I just wanted to say that I personally look forward to black Friday. I'm a young father of two little boys who are my first priority, but fishing is the one thing I get to do that let's me get away from the everyday stresses. I work between 50 and 60 hours a week, and I work third shift at that, but I get off just in time to get to the lake to meet a friend and hop on their boat. The lack of sleep is definitely worth it. Back to my main point. I look forward to black Friday because it's the one time of year that I can stretch my tiny budget and fill up the tackle bag. Just wondering what you all think.
  15. But if yoU did have the laundry list of soft plastic, worms, flukes, shaky heads, braid and flours, tungsten weights, and a nice spinning reel AND beat their price I would without a doubt give you my business
  16. And if You did carry the laundry list of soft plastics, tungsten weights, worms, shaky heads, and line, and maybe a nice spinning reel then I would love to support a sponsor. Especially if you could beat the other guys
  17. I did get a chance to look over a lot of your stuff, but I just think it will be cheaper come Black Friday or cyber Monday. Especially when the large places have % off and you get a large order, which is what I've been saving up for quite some time. Otherwise you guys would get my business
  18. I have a bass pro lite special, the older silver ones, given to me by a friend. The reel came completely taken apart and I was wondering if anyone has a schematic for it? I can figure out where everything rise in the reel goes except a black bar that is part of the spool button engage/disengage. It's the bar or piece that the bottom gear on the main gear pushes to re-engage the button when the handles are turned. Just not sure how to configure it in there
  19. Anyone have any experience with the okuma avenger series
  20. Hey everyone I have started looking into getting a spinning rod and reel. I do own a baitcaster and a casting rod but it is just the one setup. I am a father of two, youngest one turns, 1 on the 30th, so I am almost broke. Fishing is my outlet and my me-time, and I'm completely addicted to landing big fish. Having said all that I have been looking into saving for a spinning rod and reel and wanted to get some suggestions. I fish from a kayak pretty much all the time and I have become addicted to fishing super flukes. I know there are threads on this topic but I wanted a fresh take on it. Can you guys please recommend the best rods and reels that you would use for the best value or cheapest price?
  21. Just like the title says, I have a relative looking to purchase one of these kayaks and I was wondering if anyone out there had one for sale
