I'd use the light if it has any backbone.

Drop Shot On A Baitcaster?
That's definitely something to think about. I never fish 50' of water, so I wouldn't know. He probably could've backed of his spool tension and let it free fall that way, but if you don't have a quick enough thumb when you get a good bite, that could be bad news if it pulls drag and you can't reel it in on top of that horrendous backlash you just got.

Which Bearing Is Better?
Dude, if they start faster and spin easier, they'll cast further. Period. I easily got a good 20-30 extra feet casting 1/2 oz lipless with my cranking rod by switching to kattobis, and without having to shotgun them out there. Just dial your spool tension and brakes in and you'll see benefits.

Majorcraft Vokley 69Ml Bfs
I actually caught the one in the second picture using the old unintentional dead stick technique while picking out a backlash.

Majorcraft Vokley 69Ml Bfs
Catch of the day on a 1/16 owner shakey head with a morning dawn roboworm. this one wasn't bad, either on a 1/16 mojo rig with an owner shiver tail worm. I love this rod! Incredible sensitivity, fish fighting backbone, awesome casting distance. Now I need a volkey basic series bass rod. BACK, Tackle Monkey! BACK!!!

Dropshot Knot
I tie the miller knot. It's good as a terminal knot, too. Look it up on YouTube.

Which Bearing Is Better?
I have both, and like both. I think the kattobi starts faster, better for lighter baits, and is definitely quieter. Bocas are louder, but still an excellent upgrade that will greatly improve casting distance.

Power Pro Super 8
Right, I didn't do it on purpose, it just happens that 832 is spooled on my cranking reel. When it comes time to respool, that one will be ppss, too, unless something dramatically better comes along.

Majorcraft Vokley 69Ml Bfs
Got a day off to put mine through its paces. Should be a perfect day, too. Bluebird skies, calm winds, ~88*... finesse weather. See if I still think it was ¥17,800 well spent.

that's funny, because I'm setup just the opposite.

Mgx Xtreme Birds Nest..help!
I just reread this an realized you were saying that your standard mgx is good with the brakes and spool tension low. Sorry I misunderstood. I just know that going to a lighter spool with better bearings has caused me problems until I realized that I couldn't leave the settings low like I did before. You still get better distance even though you have to rein it in a bit.

Drop Shot On A Baitcaster?
It just comes down to action and sensitivity. You can go pretty low on line weight with the right reel, but they're expensive, and you can always tie on a lighter leader. And if you're fishing strictly vertically, casting distance obviously doesn't mean anything, but you won't get very far if you can't keep contact with your rig. To me, though, you're going to want to do more with your finesse rod than dropshot roboworms, so having an all around more versatile setup is more important and that's easier and cheaper with spinning gear. The only downside is having to use spinning gear. Are baitcasters more or less effective for finesse techniques? Probably not. Is going the bfs route an indulgence? Probably. Ultimately it's up to preference.

Lews T1 Rod Weight Ratings
I guess it might depend on the intended use. A medium swimbait rod might equate to an extra extra heavy jig rod, whereas a med hvy cranking rod might be closer to a med jig rod.

Swim Jigs On Co-Poly Line ?
p line or red label leaders, that is.

Swim Jigs On Co-Poly Line ?
Yeah, that p line is no joke. I use 50# braid on my jig rod and either p line or red label around the rip rap. The p line is more abrasion resistant and is really strong. It just depends on the water clarity, which probably doesn't matter all that much if you're swimming jigs, anyway.

I'll never unload those rods. I'll be the one scooping them up, lol.

Insert Repair
yeah, thanks. I don't care what it looks like, I'm just sick of it catching my line when I flip pockets.
